Middle-earth: Shadow of War |OT| Attempted Mordor

Once the Market part of the menu opens up you'll have two unopened chests with that content. I think you have to be online too.

I'm wondering if I should open them now or later. Only like an hour in and I don't think I have the dominate ability yet.

Followers and gear that come out of loot boxes scale with your level at the time of opening.

All of Act 1 is a tutorial. They gate game mechanics until Act 2.

Last night I got a Legendary chest from the first poem Elven door. It seems OK, but my Epic chest I have, has better health and I prefer the perks it has. Oh well.

Also, this games loot rarity tier is going to take a while to get used to. I am so accustomed to every loot game have Epic/Yellow gear as the highest and best, with purple/legendary behind it.

I actually just started the original goty version which I got for 8 dollars on the Xbox sale. It’s fun, will do the same with this when all the content is done. All I’d need are some new environments, the core gameplay is entertaining.

Is Act 2 when I can expect to start controlling orcs? Only a couple hours in and I've avoided running into named ones for now because it seems all I can do is kill them.

Unlocked the next section on the map. This is so much better than the original. It’s what the original should have been. It’s still not spectacular but it’s a decent game this time round. Still don’t understand what’s so good about the Nemesis system though. They just get replaced anyways. I don’t think there’s much strategy involved or anything beneficial about this way than anything else before it. But on the whole I think the improvements make the game enjoyable.

Is anyone else feeling slight input lag on the ps4 version? Like it's not awful, but it feels like there is a very slight delay going on.

I'm playing on a ps4 pro with Enhanced Graphics option.

On XB1 I felt it was a little delayed. Made certain prompts like the quick blue B or O counters for ologs really difficult in group combat. On PC I have 0 trouble with the XB1 controller.

One of these days the DF analysis will be out and we can get to the bottom of this.

So far I finished getting collectibles in the first area and then went onto the next main mission that has
Gollum
.
Gonna go through the game like last time: Get all collectables then go and complete main objectives.

Don't do this. Get to Act 2 ASAP since that is when everything opens up.

It's very good but it also feels very much the same.

I'm not very far in however so maybe as things open up the mechanics do as well.

Also, having to go back and re-earn many of Talion's combat abilities is a slog. I understand why they did that but it still annoys...

Thanks for input.

Only a few hours in but enjoying it so far.

Pretty much every single aspect of the game is great except for the main story. I couldn't give less of a shit about every single non-orc character or what's happening. Almost fell asleep during the first shelob scene, it was just so utterly uninteresting in every way.

But the combat is still great and I can't wait to really get the nemesis system rolling. I also heard the game is much harder this time which I'm looking forward to finding out.

This really strong orc with a half beehive face ambushed me and I cut off his arms. Dude comes back 30 minutes later with metal arms. I cut off his legs. I want him to come back so bad.

Here is a question. Would it be possible and in the forum rules to start a new thread just for nemesis stories? No story spoilers or general chit chat about the game just nemesis based interactions? I personally feel like a lot of people (myself included) would be interested in reading these user generated stories. Just a thought.

I was killed by a grunt and he got upgraded into something like Burog the Tarl Killer and got spiffy new armor and shit, made me mad

Snafu is such a weird orc name.

I wonder if there's an orc named Fubar too.

I'd love that. I don't really know if that would be okay but I don't see why not when we have threads like "X game has developed quite the fanart following..."

Man the orcs in Shadow of war are crazy. Somthing the lover

Ran into one dude that was like "I wants you, and I am going to have you, we can do this the hard way or the easy way but it is going to be done"

Oh man. Mine aren’t there. Tryed deleting and re downloading the dlc, still doesn’t work. Guess I’m sending in a support ticket

I killed this Orc three times and the last time I chopped off his arm and leg, first he came back with cybernetics in his head, then with cybernetic arms and a peg leg and he acquired himself a Dire Caragor.

"You keep slaying me but I come back every time, every time more machine. You made me!"

I love seeing the specific patch jobs the orcs come back with. One of the best parts of the nemesis system is that my orc and another player’s can look drastically different depending on how you killed them.

From looking at the WB forums it seems a lot of people are missing their gold edition content, so at least I’m not alone. But still, kinda ticked. At least I’m gunna be a higher level when I get it.

I noticed what seemed like input lag of 2secs on XB1 when walking. But if I held down run it seems like the charterer responded right away.

Put a couple of hours in to it last night, still just on Act 1 and really enjoying it.

Had the most intense run in when I was taking on a commander and 3 other bosses turned up/ambushed me, all getting an intro about how they were going to enjoy killing me, was so brilliant. I managed to take 2 down and had to run away from the other 2 as I was on the verge of death.
But one of them then begun hunting me for about 30 minutes and every little fight we had he got more and more angry, I was enjoying watching him get so angry about me wasting him then running away, that I was running away from him on purpose. On about the 5th encounter he brought his blood brother who I made sure to kill in front of him which broke him. He just started screaming and screaming. I left him alive to torment him.

I think this game is turning me in to a psychopath.

That’s going to be a great captain to recruit!

lol, had a grunt kill me, gave himself the name of Tark Slayer. Chopped off his arms, he came back with them stitched on, killed him again and same kill animation. He comes back again with stitched arms and the third time right before I execute him he says, "Guess you'll call yourself the tark slayer... slayer." LOL

Is there an easier way to dismiss your bodyguard after you're done with them, other than dominating them and making them "retreat"?

I was fighting my nemesis (I’m still in Chapter 1) and I finally got him down to very little health and did an execution (yes, he was vulnerable to executions), and then there was a QTE, which I passed, then suddenly the game zoomed out and I see the orc run VERY QUICKLY away (not a normal retreat)! Then there’s an indication marker for him like 500 clicks away, and he’s at full health.

My question is, what the fuck?

He didn’t have the “Hard to kill” perk which I’ve seen (which basically means when you do enough damage to kill him, he regains health). Was this a glitch?

It was quite a long, hellish battle too, if anyone cares. He kept cursing me, I was like level 3 and he was 17, and there were a bunch of smaller enemies around me who kept poisoning me. Again, what the fuck

I'm guessing he was about to retreat and time out and the very moment you went to finish him. Just screwed you over a bit.

highly regarded in 2014? which game?

um, middle-earth: shadow of mordor, at #9: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=973706

so, yeah, the ot for the sequel is, indeed, surprisingly dead. & i say this as someone still trying to get into it (6+ hours) :) ...

I made this topic for all of those who want to share a Nemesis story without having to look through everything else going on with the game

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1446455

dude, this thread's barely alive as is, & you've already made a second one? :) ...

Sounds good, but can you go back to complete Act 1 quests once you're in Act 2? I don't want to accidentally move onto Act 2 before I'm done with 1. :p

I'm in Act 2 and can't go back to the places in ACT 1. If I'm in the quest menu I can see the quests and there is a show map button there and when I select I see the map but can't fast travel. Maybe after I complete ACT 2 or get far enough it will open up, but it hasn't happened yet

I left a couple of quests in there which do get you more skill points so I hope I can go back later. Hopefully someone else can respond that's farther in the game.
