Straight up offensive.

Hey BCT. I think someone shared on my TL that Diddy threw out the tweet that people of color should have their own league, I'm assuming that he is talking about owners being mostly of color, and I liked the idea.

Anyone read up on the topic of disruptive innovation based on minority empowerment?

Eminem is just doing what Hip Hop has been about since the beginning. The Gaming Industry is still growing up from the "young (White and/or Japanese) boys" club it started out as.

Eminem is just doing what Jemele Hill was suspended for and what Kap lost his job for.

But yeah, I'm glad he said it. Side eying the power fist, though.

Looking at that thread about Death Stranding reminded me of that "leaked" plot from the game.
Man, imagine if it was actually the plot of the game.

Man the orcs in Shadow of war are crazy.

Ran into one dude that was like "I wants you, and I am going to have you, we can do this the hard way or the easy way but it is going to be done"

Yo, they get real weird. I had one dude that was just... screaming at me. Not words, just high-pitched screaming.

Just been quietly keeping up with that whole Harvey story these last few days, jfc

Looks like Affleck is going down today.

That's my point though, Hip Hop was started by Black people for the purpose of self expression and expressing issues in (Black) communities and is still dominated as an art form by Black people and Black listeners, unlike ESPN and the NFL which leads to discussions like Darryl M R is talking about. Of course the Cypher was on BET which is owned by Viacom, but still...

It's weird cause I did a whole long ass article on microtransactions. Loot boxes been around for a while. I didn't know they were in Mass Effect 3 multiplayer until I looked it up.

Loot boxes are the least of people's problems. Things change with time and I've yet to pay for a loot box. Things can exist and you can bypass them. If the game is built around it, that's one thing. But many games will have them and have had them. Congress has more important things to do than this. Smh

I'm fine with that

Why though? What have loot boxes done?

In light of recent events in US Soccer, I was always wondering why soccer doesn't have the "street culture" in the US that basketball has or that soccer has in Latin American countries. This article from last year from the Guardian seems to illuminate this: https://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2016/jun/01/us-soccer-diversity-problem-world-football

It basically admits that soccer over here is a middle-upper-class game, and that there is actually a ton of talent in inner city, immigrant communities that's going to waste because the families there can't afford to get in.

This isn't a subject I know a lot about at all, I don't even watch soccer. I was just wondering what would happen if all the culture and money that brings working class Americans into basketball and gridiron football could also bring them into soccer. Is the difference that the other established US sports are fully supported by the public school system?

They've become increasingly more predatory as the years have gone on. It's only going to get worse from here on unless a third party like congress steps in. Don't really care if congress has "more important things to do", they can do both; it's their job after all. The call of duty series (black ops 3 esp) has shown me what's in store because people are increasingly complacent with this. Multiplayer games are gonna suffer the most at this rate though.

One Piece Treasure Cruise has shown everyone what happens when there's literally no regulation and companies can do whatever the fuck they want. You're kidding yourself if you don't think other companies aren't doing the same thing as that gacha game but with loot boxes.

It also helps that we already have the infrastructure in many cities for street basketball and role models of a sort that kids want to emulate. The latter is true for football and many football players tend to come from rural areas that prize football as part of the culture.

Neither of these things are really true of soccer the way they are in other countries.

I don't find this to be in Congress' lane. It does not require their intervention. If companies become too brazen with their implementation, then the industry will have to correct itself. We have seen bad cases and we have seen harmless cases. There are always variations of practices.

Congressional intervention will not improve the situation. They have no idea what is happening and what impacts their decisions will have. Loot boxes are not gambling. Gamers just need to vote with their wallets. It's the easiest way to do it

When has an industry ever corrected itself, without outside intervention, against toxic business practices in a capitalist society? The only thing that would make loot boxes go away is if something came along that made them even more money. Voting with your wallet in this situation will do pretty much nothing in this situation. Whales make up the vast vast vast majority of the revenue gained through loot boxes/gacha systems. A few thousand people's $60 will do absolutely nothing when 10 mega whales can drop that much in a month, every month. We've also seen how reliable people are with voting with your wallet previously (MW2 protest). Loot boxes won't stop most people from buying a game they want, when they normalize it by saying "eh, doesn't really affect me/I can bypass it so whatever". Nothing is going to get better without laws preventing companies from doing shitty things.

Toonami replaced One Piece with Tokyo Ghoul?

If anything, they replaced One Piece with a rotating rerun slot at the end of the block.

One Piece wasn't getting high enough ratings, even at like 2 in the morning, so when it came time for the license to be renewed or whatever, they said nah. I think Toei was also trying to ask for more money.

Looks like the curtain to the cruel and ugly world of Hollywood is being torn down in one fell swoop. And fuck Affleck.

Remember when he tried to hide that his ancestor was a slave owner? Affleck seems to have learned a lot from the “right” people in Hollywood about tossing away humility, empathy and honesty for the sake of an image.

I said it before and I’ll say it again, the list of people I feel sick watching on the big screen has ballooned from the Polanski grossness to now.

Agreed. Too many assholes and disgusting folk in Hollywood and not enough upstanding individuals like Terry Crews and Chris Evans. Real sad, it is.

Hollywood was always cruel and ugly—we now live in a world where they can't hide that shit no more. Also, too much celebrity worship.

That's a good thing. Hollywood can't be Hollywood anymore. Tear that shit down and rebuild into a Hollywood people would be glad to support. Also yeah, people love celebrities way too much.

Eminem reminds me of Tommy from Power...and white guys like that are always invited to the cook out.

Also;

How come no one told me Ryan Coogler was directing a Film, written by Ta-Nehisi Coates and starring Michael B. Jordan?

Jay-Z is looking to buy Harvey Weinstein's ownership stake.

and

Diddy wants to buy the NFL.

Fuckin amazing.

Affleck, you fuck, what did you do now?

Lolno.

He'll play a "changed man" "regret my actions" combo and skate.
good point, he'll prolly pull a charlie sheen winning and he'll be gold, but WB got to be havin some reservations after this, cuz if this is still blowin up around the release of justice league it's gonna put a dent in sales

You think misogyny and sexual harassment is going to kill a comic book movie? Especially when people are still high off Gal's WW?

They are totally pricing poorer families out. I dropped out of AYSO when I was thirteen when I found out it was like $200 for a uniform, on top of having to buy a ball, cleats, shin guards, and paying for the mandatory team photo. I like soccer, but that was way too much money to be asking my parents for. I just told them the following year I didn't want to play anymore.

After years, 4kids is still killing OP in the States.
