This game has the weirdest fucking environment progression. "Here's a cool city under siege... now go fart around in these caves for three hours that are ugly as sin"

I'm in Act 2 and can't go back to the places in ACT 1. If I'm in the quest menu I can see the quests and there is a show map button there and when I select I see the map but can't fast travel. Maybe after I complete ACT 2 or get far enough it will open up, but it hasn't happened yet

I left a couple of quests in there which do get you more skill points so I hope I can go back later. Hopefully someone else can respond that's farther in the game.

You should finish the "main" mission in Act 2 (building the army and conquering) plus two very small tasks after that. Then you can fast travel.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. Building an army sounds like fun. =)

My patience with this game has gotten paper thin, it hasn't even opened up yet and it's falling apart at the seams.

I'm having genuine buyers remorse with this thing, it's like there's a good game somewhere underneath all the shit story telling and dreadful characters.

I'm running this game with the ultra textures and it looks amazing. I don't think I've seen a game look this dang good. I also forgot how much fun the combat was. It got me hooked right back in

I mean no offence, but did you not play the first game? That should have given you a pretty good indication of the characters and storytelling in this game. It was really the Orcs & Nemesis system that made me go all the way through the first game; the storytelling, plot and environment were all pretty weak.

This seems worse than the first game honestly. Either that or there's just more of it.

It's dragging on and on and on, I haven't even reached the army building stuff and I'm bored stiff.

Edit:
I've turned it off, I'm sick of constantly following brain dead AI from one place to another. I'm glad people are finding some fun in this game but it's obviously not for me. It's going on eBay tomorrow.

You should play the story part listening to some cool podcasts and then have fun with the Nemesis System.

I was about to ask a refund (one can always dream to get a refund from Sony) but then i played a little with the orc interactions and it's really fun on it's own.

However i regret putting 60 $ into it with all the great releases comings and all the good games i have in my backlog, as my budget is tight.

Ambushes are super cool.

Your summons saving you while executing an epic dude that was about to slice your face off is even cooler.

Something that's really rubbing me the wrong way: I've killed two captains and had them resurrect with totally different appearances and voices.

A sniveling, scrawny orc became a much thicker, gruff-sounding one and a tall, muscular one became smaller and more whiny.

I'm fine with them surviving seemingly fatal wounds, but I don't ever remember them coming back looking totally different in the first game. Kind of kills the illusion instantly.

Yep I put this up on eBay already. I'll play through the weekend and get the $40 bucks back that I paid for this.

Has anyone heard of any issues regarding autosaving? For some reason I can't save my game. I make it all the way up to purifying the first tower, quit, and then it puts me all the way back to the start of the mission. I looked up that fast travelling to it would force an autosave but no luck...

Edit: Nevermind, it's working now for some reason.

Wow, I am really surprised so far and I really liked Shadow of Mordor, but from the opening part alone I know that there's so much more things to do now. The performance on PC is stellar as well and I haven't had a single hiccup despite the large amount of stuff going on.

Started on Nemesis mode because I wanted the challenge. Ouch, I actually got one shotted by one captain and it sort of became embarrassing when I kept dying in this vendetta against him. Some kind of beefed up feral fuck who was in 24/7 berserker rage mode etc.

So there I am.. on my knees again, wondering how I got there. When out of nowhere this Gondorian Sergeant pops up and fucking murders that Orc captain on the spot. Like freaking superman coming out of nowhere.

The combat on top of Caragors is all so much improved. It's actually really great and the executions you can do on top of them are sick.. let the caragor throw him up in the air and cleave him in two with your glaive.

The only thing that's bugging me out a bit are these tank captains (the one with the iron shields). I don't know if I am supposed to get anything against them later on, but I simply can't kill them. The only way to actually get a hit in is to roll over them with 'A' but they will adapt before you even come close to killing them. Using the bow doesn't make enough of a dent and I even had enough bad luck that this guy had some kind of regen power that he activated when at low health. I simply can't get a single attack in on them after they adapt to me rolling over them.

For anyone that used the Nemesis Forge to bring over your nemesis&follower. Does it matter what level they are in SoM? Wondering if I should level them to 20 first.

I'm still in the Prologue... X_X

I encountered audio going mute when I entered the first barrows, gonna have to look for the cutscene for whatever dialog there was.

Go Go Neo Rangers!
If the opening act was gone entirely I think I would be enjoying this a lot more. The entire first act feels like padding.

Is the first act taking people that long? I sort of gunned through it in an hour or so. Granted I’m not in the mood to suffer through Nemesis difficulty. Maybe once I start the army building.

How exactly do you use the orcs you get from loot boxes? I deployed one, is he just going to pop up once I kill a captain and time passes?

I can't even deploy them from the market...please somebody help me...I'm about to rage so hard.

so close to pulling the trigger on this game, GMG has it for 10% off but its the steam version. I kind of want to get it in the windows store for play anywhere, is that version broken? can you get the 4K cinematics and textures?

I'm still in act 1 and almost level 20. On nemesis difficulty, I think I've died twice maybe 3x. I died much more at the beginning of SoM.

Been playing UWP version all day. Not any issues. 4k stuff is a separate download in the store.

Holy shit wat. I’m at level 9 and feel like I’m nearing the end of Act 2 - probably a mission or two until dominate.

Might need a “leave the damn hinterlands” style memo on this one.

Holy shit, don’t destroy your weapons once you earn a more powerful one.

I just
had my Epic sword snapped in half by a Captain, now I have to fight him using a level 5 sword with only 37 damage. I’m a level 21. Fuck.

Ok i'm having a serious bug or something, can someone explain this? I've had 3 uruks dead for years since i first conquered ratbag's fortress and i've been unable to replace them. And on top of that im going back now to do the story invasion of my fortress but my damn uruk captains keep being randomly replaced every few turns. I'm so confused.

I just kill shit I dunno. I have like 25000 currency, all 5 gem slots etc. I'm trying to rush to act 2 now actually.

Also, I'm just playing how I want to play. I don't need a memo telling me what to do.

So, spoilers for The Arena quest:
they brought back my fuckin NIGHTMARE of a nemesis from the first game. He’s resistant to everything, and is a poison lance thrower. Gonna be a long night.

Lol, I had to do this.

Best way to handle it is to just switch weapons. Stealth attacks are your frieeeeend.

If they're stealth immune, you're fucked tho. GLHF.

Storming that first fortress, holy hell.
This is looking like my game of the year.

Yup, he was immune to stealth. Thankfully, he wasn't too fond of fire and he was standing directly next to a campfire. Managed to set it off, stun him with the frost attack and wail on him. He was a high level and probably would have done really well in my army but I was too bitter to let him live - cleaved him in front of him allies and sent them running in fear. Got my
sword back too, and it was more powerful. The ultimate "fuck you, got mine."

Glad I pretty much mainlined the story to Act II. I take it that after the fortress take over here the game really opens up.

Man I think I'm out on this one. Later stuff is basically just getting swarmed over and over and it's not fun being hit by stuff off screen over and over.

Like how is this not fixed from the first game?

One quibble- I do wish you're able to bring over Captains from your conquered regions into new ones so you can have a bit of a head start instead of having to go through the hierarchy top to bottom again. I just finished Nurn, and while doing that whole bit was really, really good (especially the siege mission), having to conquer a significant portion of a hierarchy four more times is going to get real old real fast, especially when there's backstabbing and such which means you have to find entirely new Captains on a fairly regular basis.

Force us to leave a minimum of three Captains in conquered regions but then allow us to bring others over, if only for the illusion of army continuity.

How does the game look/run on regular ps4?

Looks and runs fine. I've had no issues.

This will likely infuriate quite a bit but you can get reassignment orders from crates, though I haven't used one yet so I assume it's a one use thing, which sucks.

Yeah, I recommend this to everyone. Just bang out the story missions until Act II, that's when the game starts to really shine. Act I is basically there to get players back up to speed on all the elements from the first game.

How does this game run on a base Xbox One or One S? I'm tempted to pick this up but am having hard time deciding if I should get it for my PS4 Pro, or get it for the Xbox One I have currently (am getting the One X next month).

I have the first game on PS4 and usually like to get series on the same console, but I know they have been touting this one as one of the headline titles for the One X.
