Variety: Ben affleck admits to groping Hilarie Burton

Oh, so what's the context? I could understand if they had been sexual partners and decided to play a little on TV, without context it is really creepy.

Anne-Marie Losique says a widely circulated interview she did with Ben Affleck 13 years ago is being taken out of context and unfairly used against the Batman actor.

The Canadian TV personality, a singer and owner of Vanessa Media, told The Hollywood Reporter that the interview was an act. "This was for the camera," she said. "You have to understand that we have done dozens and dozens of interviews like that. It was for a show I was producing, so I was not at all a victim. When the cameras rolled, we would start to do that game. As soon as it stopped rolling, there was none of that. He never touched me in any improper way. He was very respectful, I must say."

I think we need to acknowledge Anne-Marie’s view on this. Its her video. I also think we need to contrast Hilarie Burton saying “I didn’t forget” to the clip in question, as it was all filmed.

Then draw your conclusion. Using Anne-marie’s clip to an accusation from Hilarie Burton seems disingenuine. Also not sure why we need hyperbole of “Batman is a rapist”. Attributing that to rape demeans actual rape victims.

Not only has Losique stated it was a non-issue, but she is doing just as much "groping" as Affleck in that video.

Bringing it up and saying "wow creepy Affleck" is misrepresentative for multiple reasons. It's 2 consenting adults mucking around.

I’m confused what the big deal is right now. Affleck was always known to be a little creepy. The video from the 90’s is...well an already well known video that’s recirculated for years. He cheated on his wife, said he had a problem, cheated again. None of this is new information or really paints him in any worse a light than you should already have seen him. Hell he even tried hiding his family’s slave owning past. If you thought he was a creepster before, he still is. If you didn’t, well then you probably weren't paying attention - or maybe you’re just too young to remember some of this stuff. So far, nothing I’ve heard has really shocked me as decidedly not what I would imagine Ben Affleck to do.

The president is a rapist. The country is fighting back against celebrating sex offenders. Ben got swept up in it. There's probably more to come.

His slave owning past...

I think you're missing a word.

If this blows up enough, could the release of Justice League be cancelled?
You really think this will be a subject of discussion a week from now?

If anything the news from yestaerday about covwring for Weinstein and lying about knowing abiut his history was worse and that is already fading.

Are we about to see a massive shift in the way people view Hollywood?

I mean I doubt people are just gonna swear off movies, but I wouldn't be surprised if people associate Hollywood with the word 'dirty' or 'sleazy' now.

As if they didn't already?

They will try their best to ostracize Weinstein and pass him off as an dinosaur, while maybe making some token statements at the Oscars and it'll be business as usual.

We always have. It's always been sleazy.

Robert Downey Jr.? Chris Evans?

Are you looking for an answer to that? If you want to believe they are, by all means continue to. My recommendation is to keep from idolizing celebrities.

What's amazing is that some people didn't already.

Maybe they've done a better job covering it up for the public in recent years. But Hollywood's bedrock is rotten.

Doubt it. Director's have been accused of this stuff before, actors have been accused of this stuff before. Why would it change now?

(Honest question, not trying to be a smart ass or anything.)

I wish things would change and improve but I feel like we're gonna talk about this for, max, a few weeks, and then slowly forget/ignore it/accept it.

True other people have gotten in trouble before and gotten away with it, but what if the stories keep coming about tons of actors? With the prevalence of social media I can see a massive backlash towards Hollywood coming out of this, more so than it has before.

Hollywood has been dirty and sleazy for forever. Charlie Chaplin impregnated and married his second wife when she was 16 and he was 35!

It was already viewed as sleazy, even though this kind of harassment of women is commonplace in all walks of life, not remotely exclusive to Hollywood. Weinstein is just an interesting case because he was so damn powerful throughout the '90s, and believed to be untouchable. Anyone taken by surprise by the Weinstein accusations has never heard a word of Hollywood gossip, apparently. Everyone in L.A. knew that kind of stuff was going on. It's just now women are speaking up about it and, wonder of wonders, being believed. The massive shift is, hopefully, in the way this kind of behavior is tolerated, not just in Hollywood, but all through society. Anywhere there's a power dynamic, you'll find this behavior.

You're missing a huge part of this puzzle, us. We aren't about to let our entertainers stop entertaining us.

We'll have our fun saying "burn it all" but go right back to buying our movie tickets.

Holy shit...

How is he not in blacklisted after something like that?

That is the most disgusting behavior I've ever personally witnessed.

Alright we HAVE to stop talking bout the Anne video.. the woman said that is being taken totally out of context and was running bit they did. Lets put the pitchforks down on this one please.

Yeah all the milkshake duck posts are kinda funny in an uninformed way. Ben's always been iffy so there's no revelation in this regard.

I couldn't be less surprised, in fact in 2017 I think things would actually be shocking if someone turned out to be an awesome person. Terry Crews restored some faith in humanity recently but fuck Ben Affleck and fuck anyone that does shit like this. The fucking power to treat people as objects is disgusting.

Edit: Just because I realized how unclear I was I am referring to the second part. If he has a history I really doubt these are just stories that happen.

Jesus, guys. You HAVE to start reading the thread. Look at my post at the top of this page... This was an act for a TV show. The host has even said so.

Jesus chirst. That was all for the cameras. Just read the thread or even the page you're posting on. Here, let me help you:

Edit: fake?

For future reference. Watching an edited video broadcast is not "personally witnessing" something. You did not personally witness Will Smith saving the world from aliens.

I want to see them all exposed.

Expose them all. Predators shouldn't get away with their abuse.

Yep, it's gone on for far too long. I like to think of these exposures as a sign of real progress, but then I remember that about 62 million people voted a clear sexual predator into the White House.

Viggo Mortensen, Christian Bale, Fassbender, Tom Hardy, Hugh Dancy, Mads Mikkelsen and obviously Keanu Reeves would all be disappointing milkshake ducks.
