Destiny 2 |OT3| The Token King

Great, so I'll save until I get some more exotic arms. They're the only Exotic arms I have currently, so didn't want to use them, and can't infuse with powerful arms because there's always an attribute on the Exotic which is greater than something I'm trying to infuse with, if that makes sense.

VERY useful to know, thanks. Will grind a bit and save it until I'm peaking out pre-Raid levels.

You can infuse them with higher legendary or rare ones. There is no downside to it.

I've attempted to infuse them with my 220 legendary ones but it won't let me.

The Exotic grips have a really high mobility stat which I think is preventing me from infusing legendary arms with a much higher PL.

Maybe I'm wrong. Never played Destiny 1 and I find much of the end game/minutia over grinding and infusing very confusing.

If the more powerful arms have a higher base light level, that's all that matters. Remember, you go to the LOWER powered arms, and then hover over the infusion icon, then infuse using the HIGHER powered arms. The mobility etc doesn't make a difference.

Well, if you feel like hanging out with us and giving a hand, I don't see any third guy desperately wanting in. :)

Haha, didn't realize you'd invited me to a party chat. Thought we were running it without mics. It all worked out in the end at least. Thanks for the run.

Yeah, it doesn't work like that.

Exotics do have a built-in +5 damage/armor mod, though. This means that, when it comes to infusion, all exotic pieces of armor and weapons are 5 PL less powerful than advertised.

So, for instance, when you've got unmodded legendary gauntlets at 230 and exotic gauntlets at 235, you can't infuse the exotics into your Legendary, since their base power is the same.

As for your issue, sure you haven't locked the infusion fodder by pressing the right stick? You also can't infuse a currently equipped piece of armor into something else.

How come you melee every time you fire the gun? Custom button config or something?

Destiny 1 Habit, becomes second nature

Shotty Blast, Melee Stab Wombo Combo, it gets ingrained

Muscle memory for close range weapons.

Slide, shotgun to the face, melee to finish off because p2p servers won't count a shotgun to the face as a one hit kill. Destiny. Good times :p

Didn't even realize I was doing that until I watched the videos. Looks cool though, like one shotting a player with a melee :p

I find the weapon fun to use in PVP, but the range is pretty lackluster for being maxed out. I mean, it's an exotic and shotguns were moved to the heavy slot and it still isn't as good as a D1 Matador.

I'm pretty sure you also switched to Jumper, pretty much all my clips from D1 had me random meleeing in it and it still happens sometimes.

Yeah this week's NF is pretty relaxed isn't it? Wrapped it up with 6ish minutes to spare without trying too hard. Good job, and thx to Feorax for the assist.

I think people have already said it in here, but in case people aren't aware the IB pulse rifle is crazy good. Don't get in long range snipe fest against a scout rifle and you're good to go in most other situations.

I wonder how the hunter exotic helmet foetracer works, I know it marks enemy's you do damage to and makes them take more damage when they are weak

I wonder if it's good against bosses or if the 'extra damage when weak' only kicks in for the last small percentage of health?

I sort of hope it stacks with tether but I've got no idea - anyone else have it have any idea?

I'm still chasing the Orpheus rig heh

Crucible needs to be re-worked. getting shot through corners is fucking infuriating - it makes getting out of encounters fucking impossible - exacerbated by the team shooting

You have to tune you mind and body to not only react but also predict when playing destiny's crucible.

It's really annoying being killed behind cover or being shot before the enemy appears on your screen.

I saw some videos that suggested the damage boost was pretty weak. You get an extra 1% damage bonus for each point the enemy is below 30% health.
To be clearer, you get 5% bonus damage when the enemy is at 25% health. you get 20% bonus damage when the enemy is at 10% health.

It's only useful against bosses, but is maybe worth equipping for strike bosses that have an insane "final phase" after they drop below 1/3rd health (like the spire nightfall). I'd wear something else until you reach the boss though!

Tethers don't actually work on bosses in D2, in that you don't get a damage buff on a tethered boss. Just save them for mobs. And yes Orpheus Rig is ridiculous.

Really helpful, thanks. I'll have a look this evening.

Is there a limit to how many things you can infuse into one item?

Thanks guys! I guess it's good to have for now but really ill be trying to switch it out for the Orpheus rig down the line as soon as I get one

I know we're not supposed to be mean or angry to this game anymore but I just have to vent: iron banner is the most miserable, awful thing yet in this game's increasingly bizarre endgame structure. It just highlights how futile and frustrating the whole setup is. Why in god's name can non-IB gear even drop from tokens

Yeah this is super annoying. I'm seriously debating if it's even worth grinding IB on my second character.

Have Bungie talked about the prestige Raid challenges?

I just thought maybe they’re gonna implement a prism damage face. Maybe on the garden where each dog is only vulnerable to something :/

Playing Iron Banner a bunch really highlights a lot of flaws with PvP currently...

Bungie removed the connection bars but seems to have made no attempt at fixing actual lag as at times I just get shot around corners / behind walls.

Some of these maps aren't very well balanced for Control - Emperor's Respite and Shores of Time both favor one of the sides due to how the points are set up for example.

Getting killed right as you spawn / spawning right next to a teammate who is being shot at happens very frequently and is becoming a real issue. I have spawned in a person's line of sight while they were running towards me with a grenade already in the air to my spawn location. I have been killed by a Golden Gun and then spawned right into the sights of that same Golden Gun. I have spawned pretty much right on top of the C flag while three enemy players were charging it with the rest of my team being at A. I have spawned right next to players who got killed as I was spawning. In two extreme cases, this happened five+ times in succession in the same game. This also goes the other way; I have had people spawn right in front of me and / or my teammates, or right on top of a flag I was trying to capture, etc.

Matchmaking should be looked at - it should always try to match Fireteams to other Fireteams, something I feel the current system is not or not adequately doing. If improving the system is not an option, just give us a solo-only playlist.

There needs to be a penalty for leaving. Leaving = 5-minute crucible lockout. Leave three times in a day = locked out of crucible for the day.

The mercy rule needs to be reintroduced and possibly the score cap lowered; games just drag on till the end of the timer every single time because the score cap is too high and mercy rule seems to be gone. A game shouldn't end at 80-24 due to the timer running out, it should've ended long before that by mercy rule.

Also why are non-IB only drops possible from the IB engrams? Who thought that was a good idea?

Sorry I just needed to vent for a bit. .w.

I was talking to a friend about this yesterday and he just didnt get it (or he did and he was doing what he tends to do with me and this game and get very defensive and argue the opposite for no reason). For time limited factions, such as IB or even the FWC/DO/NM faction rally, there should be no additional loot table. Keep the random chance and two drops, but the second drop should be within that faction (two guns, two pieces of armor, one gun and one armor). We can argue thematically why it doesnt make sense (why would IB faction be also providing EDZ gear?) and we can also argue the whole mindset Bungie seems to be in with this game and how this seems to be opposite of that (if its all about instant gratification, why pad the time limited faction loot pool with other loot?).

Additionally, Bungie needs to bring back the smart loot system. Reading how people are getting tons of duplicates on the timegated stuff (and my own personal experiences with the raid where I didnt get one new item this week, all were dupes and same elements AND my last 4 exotic engrams all being duplicates) its just very unrewarding.

It's the same as any other vendor, right? They all have gear appropriate to their station alongside a random assortment of loot. This wouldn't be as big of a deal if IB lasted longer than a week. Had the same issue with the Faction Rally.

I'm a fan of the idea of being able to just turn in a number of tokens to buy specific gear for these timed events, even if it's a big number like 30 per piece. It's also an artificial way of extending play, but certainty just feels better since you can budget time instead of just playing and playing and relying on plain ol' luck to get the gear you want.

It also wouldn't be as big a deal if the actual Iron Banner event introduced more meaningful change to PVP so that people had more reason to play it than just getting loot.

At least Faction Rally made it so people wanted to check out more of the Lost Sectors, which are all neat little things that a significant number of people skipped after leveling past the minimum requirements. This event is really just nothing but cool loot, which isn't the thing I enjoy the most about Destiny 2.

I'm the last person you'll find criticizing Destiny 2's endgame content. In fact, I'm perfectly... content with it. I don't feel the need to play it every day since I have other games to check out. I'm happy with just checking in on Destiny 2 once or twice a week.

But the tokens-for-RNG-engrams system definitely shows its flaws for these 1-week events, because now I do feel the pressure to play more than I want for a chance at the loot. And yeah, the Iron Banner isn't even any different than your typical Control match, so there's not even any gameplay draw to the event.

Destiny 2 is still one of my favorite games of the year, but this event isn't doing anything for me, and I hope future ones are way better.

Don't you remember that giant write up about how their P2P hybrid servers will deliver the best possible game experience?

I am seen by some as a bungie defender but that p2p hybrid nonsense was bullshit. Once again it feels like a way to cut corners to make their lives easier. Every semi serious online multilayer fps uses dedis, a game of destiny's size and ambition should not be using p2p.

Same with the lack of selectable playlists for crucible. It's poor and mind-boggling decisions like these that will continue to make the term 'missed opportunity' synonymous with Destiny.

Calus glitch is dumb. Just do it legit. The encounter is easy. Learn the mechanics and have fun with it. Beating Calus with the glitch is boring even though I never needed to do it. Do people even wipe at Calus anymore? Raid should be on farm by now. And yes I have very limited game time due to my busy life.

People do wipe at Calus, but it's generally due to being new to the raid.

Iron Banner loot has been shit so far, out of the 9 level ups I only got ONE weapon, and the most disappointing to boot: the handcannon.
GG Bung.

Yeah, despite this matchmaking being all connection based, I'm playing against teleporting players more frequently.
