Variety: Ben affleck admits to groping Hilarie Burton

Trump's sexual assault was never proven by any of the people that accused him. The only evidence was the Hollywood access tape. I feel like if he was actually guilty of it, the accusers would've gone further. Feels like that all faded out. Until Trump's accusers are verified and legit, I'll be right with you. But there's nothing verifying that he actually did anything.

This is different. This guy legitimately confessed to doing it and multiple women came out verifying that he indeed sexually assaulted them. Trump's innocent until proven guilty. Just because you don't like him doesn't mean he isn't innocent until proven guilty.

What's different about it? Trump confessed on the Hollywood Access tape and then multiple women came out and said he did things similar to the acts he admitted to doing regularly.

What do you mean by "gone further?" They told people what Trump did. What are Weinstein's victims doing that make Trump's victims seems less legitimate to you by comparison? The accusations faded out because a not-insignificant portion of the country admitted to not giving a shit by not dropping Trump on the spot.

And if you really believe in that particular brand of "innocent until proven guilty," Weinstein isn't guilty either since he hasn't even been charged with anything yet. There also isn't evidence to support every single accusation against him, and innocent until proven guilty works on a case-by-case basis. So really, it's bullshit to bring up a standard of evidence that only applies to courtrooms, apply it inconsistently between two cases, and then act like the victims in one case are lying just because their accusations don't meet a completely different standard.

Jesus Christ.

1) Trump admitted to it on tape. If you won't even take his word, then you are just another one of his delusional fans.
2) Those women faded because he's the fucking president now and has a all the power.
3) You won't be "right with" anyone if it's verified as "legit" (whatever the fuck that means after hearing the Trump tapes) because you already decided that those 10+ women were lying harlots.

You are so transparent man.

His brother, Casey, just won an Oscar and is also rumored to be a woman beater.

People on this forum praised the casting of Brolin as Thanos and Cable, and he actually did beat a woman.

A woman he was considered to star alongside AND share scenes with in BvS.

Hollywood is a cesspool

I don't fucking get it. Why is it so hard to keep your god damn hands and sexual desires to yourself? I'm pretty sure you wouldn't have problem finding women who actually would want you, not to fucking force yourself on those who don't want it.

Again, I'm shocked at how naive people here are, Hollywood is a seedy pit, has been for DECADES, towards both men and women, those in power abuse, and they revel in it and the fact that it's the norm for that industry.

It's not just Hollywood. It's everywhere. In business. In games. Every part of society where there is an imbalance of power.

Not surprised considering Ben's Nanny-incident.

Not surprised at Hollywood either that keeps giving awards and tearful standing ovations to Roman Polanski at every opportunity.

this.
e.g. Rock Hudson .. just saw a documentary about him and one of the producers hitting on every gay actor in Hollywood ..

They absolutely do. There are men with power everywhere. Some of those men abuse that power. And some women too, as we've seen in those recent scandals about teachers committing statutory rape. But the overwhelming majority of sexual predators who abuse their positions of power are men.

And it's very important to be conscious of this fact, because if you assume any group of people are above suspicion, you're giving them carte blanche to abuse their power without fear of reprisal. See the Catholic church, Jimmy Saville, Bill Cosby, etc.

So yes, everywhere.

Yup, don't confuse every man...with everywhere.

Any place you can think of, it happens.

lolno. he's basically doing what Brando did in stuff like On the Waterfront and its amazing. very internalized and complex performance that he won for.

plus Jesse James...whew.

Nope.

Find it extremely difficult to separate him from his obvious fuckery though.

My wife said the same thing. The only conclusion we can draw is “I’m Ben Affleck, who wouldn’t want to be touched by me” type attitude. Basically power trips.

Yep. These people have a really distorted view of reality.
All day, every day, people say how great they are. They start to believe it and before you know it all they make is mediocre shit (nobody has the guts to tell them the truth) and think the world belongs to them.

Apart from the TV industry, I don't recall instances of game development passing around young boys and girls for sexual favours.

The only evidence of Trump committing sexual assault is a tape where he brags about committing sexual assault? The women who've been sexually assaulted by him over the years need *to go further* than publicly telling their stories about Trump sexually assaulted them (which is literally no different from what Weinstein's accusers have said and done)? Trump is innocent until proven guilty, but Weinstein, who has yet to go through any court proceedings whatsoever, is guilty?

Yeah, it's really a wonder more women don't come forward after being assaulted and abused, with such empathetic and reasonable audiences like Atom Heart Mother around.

Cheating on your wife is pretty shitty behavior (and I will never understand the "oh, poor Ben, he's having a rough time" demeanor last year when he did that shit entirely to himself), but how in the world is that equivalent to sexual assault or harassment?

It's a respect thing. If you respect women then you don't cheat on them. I'd say it is worse then harassment (but not assault) as you are doing it to someone that you love.

Not only that, these incidents coming to light are probably only trickle truths of the far greater degeneracy running in Hollywood

I don't think cheating on a man goes to a fundamental disrespect towards men.

I'm not equating the two (how the hell did you interpret it like that?), but it says something about a man's character when he starts a relationship with his family's nanny, which makes it less surprising that he also has done what has now been uncovered.

Also cheating with the nanny, where he also was in a position of power of being her employer, right under his wife's nose makes it much worse than say having a one night stand with a stranger he met in a hotel bar for instance.

Will this affect his Batman role? You think WB will replace him?

He's not going to get fired now over something that he did in 2004, for something that aired on TV as a "joke".

If they replace him with another actor there will be other reasons, there's been rumors of JL being his last time in the role for months.

Everything is just coming out of the woodwork now.

Oh yes, many more to come i bet. And we can only hope something truly will be done about it now. Just now i read Disney has removed Weinstein's name from a upcoming movie or something, thing is...is that genuine or is that to perhaps cover their own ass? With that i mean that in no way is Weinstein the only person in that industry and it's about time they all get what is coming to them.

Let's especially hope shit won't be swept under the rug anymore, but with how things are going for Weinstein for starters that shouldnt be the case. By the way i wasn't even aware Casey Affleck had done shit, totally new for me. But then i havent been following the news much for a long time, but some news is impossible to not catch up on.

I would say Disney is just covering their asses since I feel there would be some higher ups in Disney who knew or at least have heard what Weinstein has done in the past and have kept quiet till now. I also hope to that this stuff is not swept under the rug after the media stops focusing on it.

All this stuff is very depressing, especially when it's people who's work I genuinely like, like Louis CK.
I've definitely behaved inappropriately towards women a couple times in college, but I'd like to think I know better now and it sucks that dudes in their 40s are still doing this.

maybe it was the part where you said "I'm not surprised he assaulted a woman considering he cheated on his wife with a nanny." As if one is supposed to naturally lead to the other.

but it says something about a man's character when he starts a relationship with his family's nanny, which makes it less surprising that he also has done what has now been uncovered.

I don't think the character deficiencies that lead to infidelity are not the same as the character deficiency that lead to assault and harassment.

And Momoa could be joining the shit pile too unfortunately so I’m sure there’s a bit of panick within WB’s marketing department at how the hell to arrange the press stuff in the coming weeks.
