Resident Evil games worth playing?

It's been long time since I played Resident Evil game. The last one I played was Resident Evil 4 on Gamecube. I have played RE1, RE2 RE3, RE:CV, RE4, RE Remake and RE Zero but never got around to play RE 5, RE 6, RE7 and both revelations games. With Resident Evil being on sale I would like to jump back into the series.

Which of the Resident Evil games I haven't play are worth playing?

- Resident Evil 5
- Resident Evil 6
- Resident Evil 7
- Revelations 1
- Revelations 2

RE5 if you cared about the lore of the series, seeing as 5 was marketed as an "end" to the mainline story and Wesker.

RE7 if you're just looking for a good game.

Remake, RE4, RE2, RE6 and RE7 :) One from each RE gameplay type.

Do NOT play RE5, it aged like milk...

You've played the great ones. From that list the only worth trying are 7 (best one) and Revelations 1 and 2 imho, if you want silly scripted third person action go with 5 y 6.

RE 6 is fun if you shut off your brain and play it as mindless shootbang. I kinda liked what I played of Revelaitons 1 and 2 too. Haven't played 7, and 5 is complete global garbage.

I found enjoyment in all of those titles to be honest.

If I could only pick two I'd go with 7 and 5, a mix of some classic and action.

My favourites from that list are 5, 7, and Revelations 1. If you enjoyed 4 you'll likely enjoy 5 as it builds upon the foundation that game built and is really polished. It gets a lot of hate for taking the series into a more action-focused direction but it's still a fantastic game.

7 is really good and changes the series up again. Would definitely recommend checking it out.

As for Revelations I think the consensus seems to be that 2 is better but I really prefer the first game. It has some good atmosphere and the campy story and dialogue RE is known for. Keep in mind that it was a 3DS game originally and adjust your expectations and you should have a good time.

Personally I love RE and think all of the titles there are worth playing, but if you don't want to go that route I'd just start with 5, 7, and Revelations for now.

5 and 6 of course.

There's a reason they are the top two highest selling games from Capcom =D

Oh and Revelations 2, my personal favorite from recent times.

5. Especially if you have a co-op partner. 6 was pretty weak and I haven't played 7 beyond the demo so I wont recommend those.

So it's not really much of a survival horror game anymore? I have seen some videos of Resident Evil 6 but it seems like there was a lot of action and didn't seem like you would starve for ammo and resources. Maybe it was played on lower difficulty settings? Is it really so much of a shooter compared to other games in the series?

As a die hard fan of the franchise since 1996 and never missed a RE game.... I say play this only from the ones you’ve missed:

A true high quality RE game that are worth the name since RE4.

5 and 6 are pretty much just third person shooters with zombies and mutants, yeah. 5 tried to balance the shootbang and the survival horror but did neither very good at all, and by 6 Capcpom just said fuck it and made it more or less a pure shooter. And it worked. RE6 gets a lot of hate and I can see why some dislike it, but personally I had fun with it.

Question about the 6, do you play as a different people in it? I'm asking cause from what I've seen in the trailer there are a lot of people in it from main games.

It's been years since I played it, but yeah, IIRC you play as different characters who all partake in the same story, and eventually the game ties up all of their storylines.
