For the guy that asked how to duplicate layers to the other side of the car: After you applied one and selected the color, pick the 2nd icon to the left that says "layer control" (translated, could be different). There you pick the duplicate option to the very right.
So you have to duplicate each layer separately or can you do them all in one go?

Are you sure? Yesterday or day before I finished a test and after it said cannot save but later I came back after playing some Overwatch and it was actually saved.
I've read GAF posts saying that any offline progress is wiped when you leave the game, and posts saying that it does save progress when you go back online. Don't know what to believe.

Surely been answered, but can you guys tell me what you get (if anything) for placing first in the arcade races? Do you get different things for winning Beginner, Intermediate, and Professional? Or do you just rack up miles and experience, etc.? It'd actually be nice not to have to worry about chasing unlockables this way, but just wanted to be sure. Thanks. :)

From my experience if you turn the console off without it saving you will lose what you did. If you wait for the servers to come back online before you quit it will save what you did.

Guess this gives one time to flip through the Collector’s edition book.

I have to admit I had a pretty good time playthrough the first half of the Driving School. And while the cars sound really good this time around, the soundtrack is stellar. I'd trade some of the rock stuff for some Thundercat or Todd Terje (or Nils Frahm, Alfamist, Kamasi Washington basically something slightly more chill) but really, they did got some really good picks in there. Never thought I'd hear Young Fathers or DANGER in one of these games.

I might be only an hour plus in, but I'm definitely digging everything about the game thus far (minus server stuff) - even with a standard DS4 just driving from the cockpit view.

yes, some things do save... i got to driver level 10 yesterday when connection dropped and i got a lambo... when it got back up, i got back reward for lvl 10, lambo.

Definitely saves if you just wait for the servers to come back, but what if you close the game or play something else before then? What happens to the progress accrued offline up to that point? I've heard both that it saves and that it doesn't in these cases.

it seems to be related to when you started it... if you start in offline mode, it will not save.. if you were already racing, it will save... at least from my limited experience yesterday.

I don't know how they'll consider service disruptions in reviews, and I don't envy those editorial choices. But I'm out. This isn't worth my free time, and so much of it is for totally arbitrary reasons on the design side.

Oh, now I know which one you're talking about. That one gave me hell as well. It's a 17.7 gold time and my time ended up being 17.668. The official guide video is your best bet at learning it. It's really the hardest challenge that i've come across so far (i'm currently up to Mission Challenge Stage 4 with all golds in the previous 3 stages).

Yeah, it really made me feel like I'm a terrible driver. But thanks, at least I know I'm not alone on it being hard.

You're referring to Intermediate test 29? Lexus on the Nürburgring GP course?

Here's a guy who completed them all https://go.twitch.tv/videos/182867342
Go to ~2:08:00 for that particular test.

Thanks, I'll have a look, need all the insight I can get!

Glad to see the M4 "exploit" got removed on the Brands Hatch race, but not sure making everyone use a Civic was the right fix. I guess it was the quickest fix though without changing the client to disallow de-tuning to enter a lower class. I'm going to miss being thrilled and scared to death driving my Alfa 4C on Brands though. I love the 4C; as a lightweight, transverse mid-engine, rear-wheeled car, it's the closest thing I've got to having the Lotus Elise in the game.

If you close the game before the servers come back up, your progress is lost.

The only thing that gets saved locally is a few settings, nothing that relates to your progression is.

On a good note (and there are few good notes) if you ever started playing GTS on another console all your progress, unlocks and livery would be there for you.

Wonder if its possible to have a full playable scape track, because it looks amazing watching the cars cruising around in scapes

Thought I'd share this facebook post from Marco Massarutto, Kunos Simulazioni (Assetto Corsa) co-founder, from a couple of days ago:

Pretty much literal translation, sorry if poor:

I read unpleasant comments about the Honorary Degree given to Kazunori Yamauchi (creator of the Gran Turismo series, for those who don't know him), in which people focused on the product itself, on the "forza motorsport is better", and so on. The undisputed merit of this person is to have brought the concept of simulation, or racing game if you want, outside the rooms or a niche of enthusiasts, and to have it enter the collective imagination. Bringing in the homes of 70 million players the concept of virtual driving, associating it to its instructional value: "I memorized the circuit on the playstation" is a phrase often heard from drivers representing the elite of motorsport itself, aside from testimonials of this game or that game, and these statements entered the homes of millions of people introducing a new concept in the ways of learning by having fun. And, if you allow me, having fun while driving, instead of killing zombies, vampires, stealing cars and committing virtual robberies. Yamauchi has the merit of bringing, before anyone else, a high level of adulteration in the world of virtual motoring creating -first one to do so- direct connections between the gaming medium and real automotive brands. Regardless of gameplay or design limitations of the various chapters of GT. And celebrating, through a videogame, the essence of motoring in what is the most immediate image in its simplicity, whether it's driving your own car or your most desired one or the one you will never have. He managed to do so thanks to his immense passion for the automobile, making many teenagers and young adults fall in love with a unique gaming art form.
A merit that in my opinion does not depend on "what kind of a game" Gran Turismo is, compared to others.

I feel like Polyphony biggest mistake is in the communication and the release strategy.

Nobody knows when DLC is coming, if its free or paid, what we will get, if we will get more missions etc. There are features that are obviously in the foundation of the game but not there... Fine, but couldn't they just confirm that they are working on those things? (Rain, snow)

People think buying cars isnt important/necessary because in some events they let you choose any car... The special events have extremely shitty timmings! Im not going to play between 2 and 7 am. Really, W T F.

The events they created do not show what the game can truly offer. 3-5 laps, no damage, no tires deposition... Its still a nice race, but why isnt there a few other races that are bigger? 10 15 laps at least (not oval ofc).

In general, the game lacks some stufd, but what is there is already great, but not well explained. If they would give a timetable of events, addons, things would be better now, even reviewers would be giving a little more points.

GT has the most haters but that’s probably due to its popularity. I mean so much bitching over trivial stuff that is present in other games too and the moving of goal posts. When something is addressed suddenly something else is a problem. IMO all of the racing sims this year are worth playing and all very distinct from each other.

Quick question using zero tc. How do you stop the wheels spinning from a standstill on a pad? Just can't do it.

The first driving school lesson with the Miata is a good learning tool. Got to have sensitive trigger control with the controller to get gold

I am using a gentle touch. I keep the revs relatively low as much as possible. Just seems like there isn't much room for manoeuvre

Are you accelerating with the shoulder levers? DS4 isn't best in class there, it can be very difficult finding the sweet spot. You can try using the right stick and configure the dead zones, but TC 0 isn't for me on controller.

For me it's the lack of content. Whether traditional GT or the new Sport focus - there's a real lack of circuits and cars. Many garages just have one road car in them for purchase.

And as someone who used to play early GT games a lot just hot lapping, having tracks locked behind game progress is rather galling.

Not only is the track list too low, it takes a while to even use all the tracks it does have.

Use right stick for throttle/brake instead of triggers, and don't go full throttle when you're turning/exiting corners.

Yeah I'm okay as long as I'm not in first gear lol

I just can't get the balance right, I'm either hitting the limiter and its just wheelspinning, I shift up and get bogged down in second or I'm hanging around 5/6k rpm and can't get any decent traftion off the start either. I'll keep practicing using the first licenses in the Mazda but not sure I'll get the hang of it.

Yeah shoulder buttons. I'm getting a wheel in a couple of months, it's not big deal but if 8 wanna get competitive online I need to be mastering the 0 tc.

This getting rammed in the back and incurring penalties need to be addressed. Dropped to C SR so now those that think braking is for the weak are becoming more prominent.

Maybe they thought this way people will have to learn all the tracks, instead of just jumping into their favorite one. I would have preferred to have them all available from the start though.

Don’t waste your energy, people have complained about that for many years in iRacing. It won’t change. It’s not possible for the system to determine who was at fault.

While playing the demo I could not find the option to turn on a braking line. GT Sport full release have this feature? I've tried searching for an answer to this.

Thanks in advance!

Assuming rwd:

So at a standstill, the rear tires will be lightly loaded. Once you are moving forward, they will become more heavily loaded and get more drive traction, and you can crack open more throttle. So you want to roll it on, as fast as possible but not too fast. I feather the throttle a little when I am searching for this balance.

I still can't believe how much harder Dragon Trail is in reverse compared to its normal form. I can blow through the normal layout just fine, but the reverse just kills me.

You’d think a speed check in the braking zone or a comparison of speeds between the two cars wouldn’t be that difficult. It’s super annoying but I guess it’s something that we have the live with.

I've been rear-ended and still gotten the green SR^ at the end of the section.

Clearly, the game can tell "who's at fault" when a guy on the driving line going at the proper speed gets clipped from behind by someone who didn't use enough brake. Sometimes the system makes mistakes, though.
