DF: Shadow of War: Early Xbox One X vs PS4 Pro Graphics Comparison + Frame-Rate test

Just watched the video on my lg oled. What a fucking difference, leaps ahead texture wise. They were clear this was a gamescom build so not representative of the final Xbox one x build. Hopefully they can get the framerate up but wow.

What's really encouraging is that this was from a Gamescom build so I would imagine performance can only improve on what we're seeing here. Definitely going to pick this up around Christmas time.

Pretty good. Still waiting for Red Dead 2 as the first major comparison between the 2 machines. A game with a massive budget and more dev time with the hardware than this launch window stuff.

Are you sure you didn't watch it with your nose attached to the screen? Someone says that's the only way to notice such differences.

I am very happy to see comparisons finally start. Give me Wolfenstein II next, please!

As expected, the differences are very clear. The Xbox One X is quite the powerhouse. The real litmus test, I feel, will be in comparing Microsoft's franchise titles versus their standard counterparts. Gears of War 4, I'm looking at you.

Doesn't seem worth the price difference

Maybe not for you. Looked amazing on my oled but thanks.

Of course I'm sure your it's not shitposting for the hell of it, because a game made for its launch must be representative of allthe Xbox one x can do. Still should just stop with the comparisons now as obviously it isn't going to get any better and the performance of the one is such a disappointment. Thanks for pointing it out to us pal.

This image right here, just this shot tells it all. There is a MASSIVE difference!!! I was honestly not expecting this big of a difference. From the cape detail, to the textures all around, to the lighting, the res, it seriously looks like different console generations! Does anyone k ow how to post these side by side, since Photobucket started charging for Image codes im having a difficult time figuring out where to get coding! :(

Don't worry, I'll vouch for them.

XBX definitely looks better here, but different console generations? Come on.

I don't know. I've been a happy Pro owner and these comparisons are making me feel better about my pre-order of the 1X. Was a little worried that the extra power wouldn't get utilized but it's a noticeable leap so far.
Also as a happy PS4 Pro owner, my biggest concern about switching back over to the Xbox One X for my primary game needs is I'll be leaving behind most of my real-life friends. My friend and I were just talking about possibly getting the new Call of Duty game. Well, he'll be getting it on PS4, but I want to experience the best version of it, so I want to go Xbox. This is a much harder concept for me to deal with than simple graphical differences.

It's more like going from Medium settings to Ultra IMO. Hardly looks like different generations. That and the weapons/cape that the protagonist has on are different between the shots, so it's not a 1-to-1 comparison.

Still looks fucking fantastic though.

Lets not go crazy here.

This reminds me of back when games on the PS4 was at 1080p and the Xbox One was at 720p. People went nuts over the resolution.

Glad to see devs using the extra ram though. Always good to get the most out of the haarware.

I agree. I can't understand why anyone, especially if you have an LG OLED, would choose the Sony one. Microsoft is amazing

I would say campaing on XOX as fast as you can so you can sell for almost full price and multi on PS4. Of course if it's only multi for you then hard choice.

PS4 was 1080p and Xbox One was 900p, and I'd say these shots are a significantly bigger difference than what we ever saw between the base Xbox One and base PS4. This is coming from a person that's been a Playstation guy this whole generation.

Do I really need to put "/s" on the end to make it obvious to non-Brits?

It's getting harder and harder to tell who's serious or joking these days. =p

It looks nice but let's not get carried away with the generational difference talk.

Yeah I'm kind of in a similar boat. Most of the people I've been gaming with, many of which I know in person, have been on the PS4. Thankfully I still have plenty of other friends on the Xbox to also play with.

Only difference is, i seriously doubt MS cheap out on HW power for a console launch ever again.

While that is probably true, that doesn't really matter much in what I was saying. I don't expect a Playstation and Xbox releasing in the same year ever again, unless Sony holds back on the PS5 to make sure they can match what the next Xbox has which I don't see happening. I also think how well this and the Pro end up selling overall will determine a lot. I don't see either of them ever outselling their slimmer brothers so maybe this leads to no refreshes later, which I also doubt. So I am thinking as an example 2 years from now PS5 that blows away the 1X, and then a year or two later the next Xbox which blows away the PS5, and then a PS5.5 and so on and so on and so on.

Exclusives. Sony has a lot of those, and PS4 PRO will be the best place to play them for the rest of the gen. X1X has... very little on that front, at least.

I don't agree, but to each his own.

Native 4k (resolution and textures) are beautiful though.

If the multi-powered consoles model works out, we could even see next gen coming out with different models since the start. For example, we could have a cheaper priced PS5 aimed at casual gamers coupled with an high-end PS5 Pro aimed at hard-core people. Like MS did with 360 with their Arcade/base models at launch.

Because games are generally more important? The X1X looks far and away better than the Pro obviously, and that is great and I can't wait to get one. However, the game selection from Playstation is still far better in my opinion than Xbox so if I could only choose one I would choose PS 10/10 times. Thankfully I don't have to worry about that and buy everything.

This is also a very likely option.

There's no way either company would give the competition a two year lead. Both machines will either launch the same year or a year apart at most.

Where did the smokestack go in the XB1X shot...?

It's good that consoles are finally starting to benefit from more RAM and high quality / 4k textures.

It's a good sign for next gen, especially if they use a decent Ryzen CPU, for a better balance of CPU / GPU to allow for great graphics and 60fps, with less compromises.

Don't worry, as you get older the less friends you will have. Invest in the future.

Wow lol! This looks like a cross-gen game comparison!

But I don't know if I'll get the X1X thoguh, I've just upgraded my PC with a GTX1080. There's no reason for me to get the X.

Pretty impressive difference, I'm glad for Xbox players. Can't wait to see what a first party studio will showcase on it
