King dice freaking sucks. God damn

So many unique forms that people might not see. Every one of them having clear attack tells and weaknesses. King Dice is one of the best bosses in gaming history. Everything about him's amazing and challenging. What's your issue?

They have a whole play though and it's not even scary ugh.

Most disappointing series in site history, so many unique horror games out there!

It's not super scary but how's it not unique? You take a bunch of amazingly well done horror tropes into a really fun horror scenario where choices have a huge impact on how things go forward. What unique horror games do you like?

Here's my issue. I SUCK.

I agree though. visually and conceptually a fantastic boss

None of the choices you make matter until the last hour outside of one interlude not brought up to the very end, and
3 characters
can’t die until the last scene of the game. I loved it the first time around but replays show the entire thing is nothing but smoke and mirrors with random bars after every action. It’s a telltale game though and through, not that I hate them by any means. Just seems absurd that to this point it’s been nothing but modern games (4 being runners) and a game they’ve played through already. Of course it’s for Abbeys benefit but meh

The cast is far larger than the number you spoilered though, right? No many other games go to the same lengths, especially with those production values. The games obviously smoke and mirrors but it's better than most attempts outside of the like of Alpha Protocol and Age of Decadence. To say it's like a Tell Tale game where nothing matters isn't fair. It has great production values, acting, and I can't think of any game in the genre that does choices/consequences better. It should also make a great one playthrough stream.

I asked what games you think do it better though and I'm honestly curious?

Also what's the Jeff mixlr? Are there American number stations?

I just still want the sixth game to be ANATOMY and if not, something even more obscure from itch.io since Abby says she’s used the store before

but I know this is my TLoU 4v4 multiplayer and it’ll be RE

I believe The Last of Us can be labeled a survival horror game.

It’s not very scary, but it can be extremely tense. Especially the multiplayer, which can be played in a four vs four format.

As vague as possible here.....So I finally figured out the pattern. Got to him multiple times. Nearly had him twice and then on my last run I got there with full hearts and the charge super and he glitched out after I hit him with it. Glitched to my advantage so I'll take it!

If I was braver and had less of a ridiculous backlog I’d try TEW.

maybe some day I’ll grab some friends for it or something

Just like the first one.

Mhm, the biggest thing that turned me off from the first one was the black bars thing. I should really go back to it.

Bethesda games that are fucking awful get stupid amounts of love and the games they publish that are great get none of it. This is the way of things.

game that deserves more love than it's getting? gee that sure sounds like a bethesda publishing release
Haha, that's true isn't it? Maaan. Bethesda is weird.

This week without vinny was kind of a bust. I thought GBE was gonna go off the rails in the grandest fashion but in reality there was just more wrestling and jackbox than usual.

Man the Evil Within 2 seems like a game that deserves more love than it's getting.

I'd certainly like to put more time into it

IF IT FUCKING WORKED ON PC

In the meantime, I'm going through the DLC from the first game, and despite a bit too much hide and seek garbage, The Assignment was pretty damn stellar. I'll certainly start up The Consequence.

I really should get started on RE7 as well.

Did this trend of Bethesda-published games underperforming start happening around the same time they stopped giving out early review copies

They actually put out review copies for The Evil Within 2 and Dishonored: Death of the Outsider, so I think that review policy thing might be over? Not sure.

But I'm not sure if Bethesda games "underperform" since they all seem to get sequels. The Evil Within sold something like 1.5 million in the first month which seems like a lot for that game but I don't know.

Ask me when we get Prey 2.

They patched it so, you're good to go. I will say though that TEW2 is different than the first game in a number of ways, mainly how it's hub based now whereas in the first one it was a linear experience. The experimentation mostly came from how you upgrade your character and where you set your traps. TEW2 feels less exhausting solely for the fact that it is less janky but also, it seems that the number of things that could kill you lessened? Like in the first game the environment could be filled with traps. Some of them that one hit kill you. That is on top of the enemies roaming around with you having low resources and useless stamina(unless you've been upgrading it).

Haha, that's true isn't it? Maaan. Bethesda is weird.

They also employed a strategy that would help the current Morrowind/Fallout game but cripple their other titles in not sending out pre-release copies to outlets on Doom's release. They gave everybody that was interested the multiple beta which was sure to disappoint yet gave nobody access to the single player that would appeal to everybody.

Zenimax lost me after the New Vegas debacle when they nearly killed one of the best RPG devs out their for release the best entry in the Fallout franchise. Since then their decisions have been confounding since they've funded great games but done their best to kill them on release.

Fair point, but Prey and Doom were much better than either of those titles.

My issue with EW2 is it's RE4 but worse than RE4. I'd love to see a game that consists of only the first mission town defence and builds on it throughout its duration. The only thing that's tried to build on RE4's best part is RE Mercenaries.

I think the production values and acting are great, and certainly set it apart in that respect but the c/c just don’t matter in any way until the very end of the game. Which is true of most games and I can’t think of a better one off the top of my head but it’s all the more frustrating with Until Dawn because it’s a really long game where almost nothing has ramifications until the last act. And the exceptions happen very early on and then aren’t mentioned until the last ten minutes. It’s just something that doesn’t hold up to scrutiny.

Dishonored 2 was so insanely good. A crack in the slab laid waste to that one titanfall 2 level everyone gushed over (and I really liked the game). If that review policy is still up it needs to go like yesterday.

I don’t think it really matters that your choices “don’t matter” in Until Dawn because the overwhelming majority of people will only ever play it once, not knowing that some people can’t be killed until the end.

Hells yea, Alex

It isn't... until David Lynch AND Mark Frost left and it was the other two co-writers doing the heavy lifting and not having the deft touch that Lynch and Frost had. It gets pretty rough there, but thank god they set things up for the best 3 episode stretch of TV history: those last 3 episodes

I don't think your wrong, I think you're overly critical of the things that the game manages to achieve. The ending scenarios are set in place. You'll always go through the caves, you'll always end up in the house. I just think the choices up to that point are more significant to the Telltale affair. There are more variables in a title that has much higher production values and a much better engine. I also don't think it's fair to say there aren't ramification prior to the final act when a lot of characters can die before then, they'll be represent, and will make that last act different even if it's just down to who your saving. TWD games received way more acclaim for doing much less.

It doesn't hold up great to scrutiny, but I think it does a much better job than it's competitors?

Also I'd really like to know the horror games you like. Not because I want to critique them, but because I'm interested in the kind of games that you'd prefer.

So in Odyssey, when you "die", you just lose some coins.

Well that's nice. This game seems way more casual and friendly.

I think I'm gonna enjoy it.

It sounds like Alex is up to episode 15, which means he has definitely seen some garbage.

It also sounds like he was expecting unwatchable garbage, which has never been the case. It's just not good, but can definitely see people enjoying the Twin Peaks camp factor turned up to 11.
