Agreed seems like a great port for the X.
Just wish more developers would use checkerboarding for the Pro. I knew it was a "Faux K" system when I bought it and in the past year there have been some great results like Watch Dogs 2 at 1800c or Horizon at 2160c. I would take 1800c over 1440p any day of the week.
I know there have been several games on the Pro with mediocre/poor support (in my eyes at at least) which has given me another reason not to pay full price for them even amongst day one hype. Hopefully with X out now resources for the mid gen upgrade console support will be increased.

PS4 base is holding up well for the rest of the generation, even better Pro wise (launched one year ago, not right next to Xbox One X and it is still much cheaper). If you say that what would you say to those that purchased Xbox One at launch or those that will purchase an Xbox One X six months before PS5 launches (ah yes, then it will be back to diminishing returns before Xbox Next launches and BEAST battle cries return again

Cool so youve read two threads in the last week about recent shooters topping out at 1440p on the pro (while plenty of previous games got significantly closer to 4k, albeit sometimes with checkboarding) and conclude its a 1440p box at best. Some kind of standards we have here on the new Gaf
Although the commentary in the video said the performance was better on Pro. What he actually showed displayed the Pro dropping to 58fps during SP while X only dropped to 59fps. During the MP section the X dropped to 58fps during a firefight scene while Pro dropped to 59fps walking around a corner in different scene.
It's going to be an image quality vs frame rate thing until the X matures a bit and people have more time with the hardware.
The big thing people arent really realizing is this:
When the One and PS4 came out, there were accusations flying of Assassins Creed Unity being crippled on thr PS4 for purposes of parity. This was hardly the truth.
In reality, the One used its CPU advantage to boost the GPU,and thr PS4 vice versa.
There are actually quite a number of significant improvements in the Jaguar used in the X, but more importantly theres gobs of GPU overhead that can be rededicated t CPU operation. Theyve also built in a bunch of features like asynchronous compute that alleviate a chunk of the bottlenecking. It punches quite a bit above its weight compared to the One.
Ryzen APU for hypothetical PS5/XB2 wont be ready for mass production at the price and thermal points needed until 2020. No one who buys an X today needs to worry about a objectionally compromised experience until the X2X at least. And if Sony goes the ecosystem route as well, the Pro will certainly do the job for most

That's a really stupid thing to say. I even have a base PS4 and im perfectly happy with it for casual gaming and graphics are fine. I'll wait ps5 to upgrade to full 4k.

The trouble is EA Access had me start playing it on X1S and knowing full well it will be in the vault at some point I won't be buying it for my Pro.

That's in 2 years, if you see the predictions in threads, bit soon, so another 400 to spend or 500. I do agree that XBox one X feels like 500 well spend.
I did consider a PS4 Pro but at the time it felt a bit like overspending for the tech, and MS did good marketing by setting it up right against the PS4 pro more than a year ago.

Thanks for your thoughts and prayers for us Pro owners. I mean, it's true, I've played through Yakuza 0, HZD, Nioh, P5, Hellblade, and several other great games by owning a PS4 Pro, but man, the sting from not being able to play a mediocre game corrupted by loot crate bullshit that is sometimes at native 4k keeps me up at night.
It's funnier how Sony fans are holding up 1-2 fps differences in some isolated area's like a solid win given the IQ differences.

Well,to be honest i would never consider xbox (even though i think it's great) is because PS playerbase i like 3x larger than xbox in EU.Especially in southeast EU (where i live) where i bet 90% of players are on playstation.So from that standpoint,my choice will always be PS. (Even though i used to have original xbox as a kid and it was a blast to play it😁

They are acting like the X runs the game at 58FPS all the time VS 60FPS on the pro. Both show dips in FPS of 1-2 frames occasionally the X has a few more dips in rare cases, both run it at 60FPS 99% of the time. X is pushing twice the pixels and has better AF and other graphical effects.

I'm not but he makes a point about the 300% zoom. Sitting a few feet away from my 49" 4k HDR TV watching the video I was having a hard time seeing the differences. I did notice slightly better textures or ambient occlusion while zoomed in at 300% but it so damn minor (and you'll never be zoomed in like that ever in a real situation). I wonder if its just diminishing returns at this point. Either way both consoles are playing the game at a near locked 60fps with pristine image quality. Can't ask for more. I wish more games ran like this and looked this damn good on console.

Man, Digital Foundry came outta nowhere after their initial Xbox reveal. They do great work and it's reminiscent of the initial PS4 vs Xbox One "wars." Just goes to show how important healthy competition between Sony and Microsoft is!
