Lack of hype for Spider-Man 2

I’ll get hyped if they show that Black Cat is in the game. Right now its all a big sausage fest with the male characters in game.
Also want to see some good ray tracing at 40fps…..

Massive comic book IP gets yet another sequel, which looks the same as the last one, where they all follow suit in the Ubi "clear the map screen markers" slog.

Marvel/Disney/superhero fatigue.
Super hero games are great when they are not open world.
I said it. It's divisive opinion, but it's truth.
The story of these super heroes makes the game, not the big open world space.

Open world just makes the stake less important, since you are getting easily distracted by the world around you.

I felt more connected with Spiderman, when I had time for those cinematic moments. Because it felt like i was watching a super hero movie. Especially the six sinesters teaming up against Spiderman.

I mean it’s like the 30th Spider-Man game.
Why concern yourself with popularity contests on YouTube. The game is gonna sell 10 million minimum on the name and developer alone.

I’m excited. Day one. But I feel like I know exactly how that game starts, ends, and everything in between. It’s more of the same which is totally fine, but it’s hard to get especially “hype” for that.

Phone reception is more important to me than human rights
However one feels about hype or lack of it, gamers just need to be sensible and keep expectations in check. For any game.

Hope it doesn't get overhyped, like some other games we know.
Thank you.

What are we even doing....

as soon as it gets public the game is great, hype will be there. like bulders gate.
when the public talk / opinion is, the game is mediocre then there will be no hype as the game doesnt earn the hype.

everythings perfectly fine as it is right now.

I'm excited for it, probably the game I'm 3rd most looking forward to this year (behind Hogwarts and Cities Skylines 2).

The premise of this thread is really weird. "Spider-Man 2 is clearly a game people are aware of due to the number of views its trailers get, with the Story trailer being the least popular but still rivaling the views TOTK's trailers got at their peak, and also the previous games sold bucketloads and were a massive success, and I think there's a good chance this will be one of the most successful games of the year financially speaking - but nobody is excited for it".

You don't get those views or sales without "hype", excitement, or interest - especially when Sony/Insomniac is just now starting to ramp up marketing. GAF might not be excited or interested in it, but clearly the general gaming community is.

I'm of the mindset though that I don't mind sequels not being all that different from previous games - all I'm asking for from Spider-Man 2 is to give me a new story with a few new abilities but overall maintain the gameplay of the first 2, and with improved graphics and that looks to be exactly what I'm getting. I don't want sequels to be a ship of Theseus situation where so much changed that they feel like entirely different games (which is how I feel about SS/BOTW/TOTK compared to pre-SS 3D Zeldas and GoW 2018/Ragnarok compared to the original games' formula; they have the same characters but don't feel like the same series to me). I want more of the same, I don't need the boat to be rocked.

and the game looks totally derivative at best.

That's all I'm asking for!

I mean it's Spider-Man 2. People know what to expect, ie Spider-Man 1 but better, lol.
We will see great sales and high 80s meta-critic scores (maybe even low 90s) unless Insomniac completely fumbles it, which I doubt.

It will sell like crazy

But me, personally, I'm feeling meh about it

It's more of the same, the same way Ragnarok or the new Horizon didnt excite me

I want new IPs from Sony or something at least a bit different.

They expected more from the visuals. The Matrix demo made everyone delusional. They always trick us with these tech demos.

It's going to be a great spider man game. Nothing more, nothing less.

I don't think here is a point in getting hyped for something that's a known quantity like that. Buy it, enjoy it, complete it move on. Its not going to be a game that resonates or lasts in my mind at least but I'll have a great time playing it. Just like the first and miles.

Everybody already played this game even if it's still in development.

The hype is probably there but it's not an interesting game to talk about.

Because it looks like just another Spiderman game. There's no real shortage of HD Spiderman action to be had between 1 and Miles. It's going to be a solid game for sure, but I think most people would have preferred that Insomniac brought us something new and exciting.

Do you want me to make a new thread for every image the insomniac account posts like it was for Starfield? I can do that.

You say no Hype but the Venom image they posted 3 days ago has 32.8K likes on X/twitter....just an image.....thats fkn hype.

But yes, im hyped, we haven't had a "mindlessly fun" game in a long time that wasn't a strategy game (BG3), a stressful game (AC6), or a space RPG that takes me an 10 min to walk to an interest point (Starfield)

Spider-Man 1 & Miles Morales were a ton of fun! I pre-ordered SM2 as soon as I could. Now just waiting for the release date.

I wasn’t looking forward to BG3 or Starfield, so then next big game for me is SM2. I’m mad hype!
