Checking Ebay for Canadian listings of Steam Deck and boy.....many are pricing them higher than the new price let alone the refurbished price.

I'd just buy straight from Valve if this is what people are trying to sell them for..
I saw that, itll just make it easier for me to sell mine.

Either way Ill sell after I secure my preorder, not before.

Sucks that there's just the regular case with the 512gb model, the new case looks too good. Damn it, why don't they offer a glossy 1tb version?

Those and all the newer games that would benefit immensely from 90fps, like the "overwhelming positive" Dusk and dozens of other boomer shooters and new indie games.

Edit: So yeah, I don't really agree with calling a 60 > 90fps upgrade a "QOL improvement" one bit. Going from 60 > 90 fps in games is I imagine almost as transformative as going from 30 > 60.
You play boomer shooters with a controller?

when you've got gyroscope and touchpads, you can make it work.

Also one thing I'm admittedly not a fan of in the new model is the black base for the thumbsticks, i felt like the white ones added that subtle unique flair to the device. The darker buttons look better IMO but these are kind of... eh

I might get the normal non anti glare oled one.

Definitely competing with portal, switch 1 and 2. And I love it.
I believe Switch 2 will be in its own league. Products like Portal and Steam Deck have no real place to compete with Nintendo. Nintendo is its own thing and people buy Nintendo because it's Nintendo.

If you buy a Switch 2 or OG Switch that doesn't mean you should not have a PS Portal or Steam Deck. While they may be similar in what they do, they serve completely different experiences (games) as far as that goes and can easily co-exist in the same household without being seen as a competitor to one another imo.

Hmm, analog sticks no - I tried a few times on Switch and on Deck, and I can't do analog sticks. The touchpad works much better, but is still no m+kb. Though I didn't really like Doom at 60fps either, compared to 144. So I'm eager to see if 90 will do it for me, or not. I think the touchpads offer quite a bit of precision the analog sticks lack. I certainly would try them on the Deck at 90fps, and if it didn't do it, then back to the PC. It's better than a console on a gamepad I know that much.

Agreed. I own a Deck for different scenarios. Switch 2 for Nintendo, Deck for PC backlog and old games.

the relationship between a Steam Deck and a Switch isn't that much different to the relationship between a PC and a Playstation. You get one for the multiplats, and the other for the exclusives.

There is a lot more overlap between PC and PlayStation, but if someone games in both the PC and PlayStation realms then typically the difference is exclusives. To your point, I own Switch primarily for the exclusives as well.

Yeah, I own a Switch cause I love playing on handhelds and the I like the device a lot, and the exclusives are fun yes. But I believe a ton of people get around that simply by not having morals. The Deck runs pretty much all the Switch games almost day 0. I think the Switch 2 should be able to keep its exclusives tucked in its own ecosystem quite a bit better than currently. If all the rumors are true and it releases next year with DLSS 3 and everything else.

A lot of the PS5 exclusives are on PC though. Unless you really just want to play in your bed. The rest are coming sooner or later.

I would agree with ETAPrime, on paper the upgrades don't seem substantial enough to warrant upgrading from a base SD or if you already have a recent PC handheld. The OLED display is nice but it's still using a relatively weak graphics chip and the size/display ratio is still kinds of fucked.

I love how the relatively weak graphics chip runs RE:Village at 2x the framerate of the new Apple A17 chip on the $1500 15 Pro Max. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

It may not be the extra umph of the latest and greatest, but the Deck still can run ALOT really well, especially you play emulation or indies. And the OLED is going to be so nice for those.

Sure on paper, but the superior colors, smaller bezel, higher refresh rate and battery alone make a VERY compelling case for many people. This isn't a sequel system anyways, for that you'll have to stay tuned for next year. or 2025.

Is Monster Hunter World playable on a steam deck? Has anyone tried with Portal?

Is X playable on Steam Deck - the answer is yes so many times, I know it's not quite 99/100, but sure feels like it to me. Even Baldur's Gate 3 is fully playable at 30fps+ now on the deck with FSR2.

Portal will play perfectly, no doubt. Really many PS5 level games runs well at 30+ fps, but not all. Anything before PS5 is absolutely going to run, unless Proton still has issues.

So World or Rise are not going to be 60fps on a PS Portal?

Keep changing my mind but I’m back on the side of trying to get one and selling my pc to make space (not space for the steam deck, space in general)

Ps5 pro + steam deck is the way I’m going. Then switch 2 in a couple of years once Mario maker 3 is out

But reviews have said the OLED screen gives the appearance of a much higher, crisper resolution than the LCD one. Which is definitely the case of my Laptop (OLED) vs iPad Pro (LCD).
Hrm. I would need to see it to believe it. My OLED Switch looks pretty low res compared to my ROG Ally. My iPad Pro 12.9 (M2) LCD looks super high res.

the Ally has a higher resolution than the Switch. The OLEDeck and the LCDeck have the same resolution. Better screen means one will probably look shaper than the other.
