THIS SHIT IS GONNA GET NUTS. I am NOT a Musk fan AT ALL. However....what's the saying? In this case, "The enemy of my enemy is my friend."

I don't want to get political, I'm not even a US citizen, but these are devs working on games nowadays.

it's kinda obvious that it's not 'white microaggressions' that really annoy someone as aggressively opinionated & offensive as this. what really annoys her? having to control her own nasty mouth when around white people. so: no white employees, problem solved...

Can You Imagine What SureAI Is Going To Do With Garfield?
I know this is controversial but in a lot of ways I blame the developers and publishers more than I do Sweet Baby Incorporated. It's the developers and publishers that are willingly using them in the first place. And most of the people that work for these publishers and developers nowadays in the West are your typical purple haired types.

Why do you think certain publishers and developers are already coming out in defense of SBI?

Correct. SBI is small part of a much larger issue within the industry. They are able to thrive because the people working at studios agree with what they do. The only way to encourage real change is to stop buying woke products like the Saints Row reboot.

Imagine calling the world's 3rd richest man (only recently first richest) who created the world's first and only successful private space launch company and the world's first and only successful EV company a "fucking loser"

But people like that are projecting anyways
Modern day massive cult. Everyone successful is garbage.

If you're white, here's a nice get-rich-quick scheme.
  • Apply to work at her company
  • Get rejected
  • Sue company for racial discrimination in civil court
  • Use this video as evidence of her systemic hiring practices
  • Profit
The cherry on top is that since this practice is also against the law, the company will face criminal fines and the owner could face potential jail time.
I thought I read that EA is financing this studio to make the Black Panther game so wouldn't they be held accountable if they let this discrimination stand.

I just don’t get the obvious avoidance of the fact that SBI started this. Straight up.

Like it’s so in your fucking face you’d need surgery two times. It’s such a curbstomp, misfire to the face fail and the fact that these freaks haven’t gone silent because of it near blows my fucking mind πŸ˜‚

The funny thing to me is that once the news broke and the Steam group started gaining steam momentum, it went from 30,000 members to 100,000 members which in the grand scheme of things is a nothingburger on a platform with 120 million monthly active users.

And the problem with team size exploding is that you end with tons of middle managers (and HR "professionals" etc) involved, who inherently ruin everything they touch, and kill the unique creative drive of projects.

Classic games like Doom were made by a small team of like-minded guys, building exactly what they wanted through the night, unencumbered by bullshit like quotas, "fairness", etc.

Case in point again, about the perils of "diverse" teams (from DoubleFine documentary). Watch her complain because some guys were staying late and the company bought them pizza for late sessions... which means mean-old crunch time might come back around and penalize the 9-5 whining types:

All I want is games made by driven people who had a vision and executed it without compromise. I hate gaming as a bloated industry with a ton of 9-5 jobs given out to masses of people who are then mediated through HR bullshit. I'd rather not have big budget games at all if it requires the middle managers and their brain numbing effects to be involved in the process.

This 1 billion percent.

I work in software dev (not gaming related) and when I was hired at my last startup there were literally 4 engineers on the team and we got SO. MUCH. SHIT. DONE.

There were barely any meetings, and when we needed to make a decision we usually did so on the spot and went with it. We built, tested, broke, fixed, delivered. I left after 3.5 years when progress became glacial and employee count had ballooned to 400+.

Fucking design by committee is the worst shit to plague development, especially with multiple meetings of jerkoffs arguing over colors and specific wording. And it’s ALL over modern AAA game dev. Fuck me.

Yeah it was 70,000 people immediately agreeing/screaming/saying that yeah, something is fucked up and thanks for having some guts.

Kind of, but it's also become the #5 or #6 largest curator group on Steam, and it's still growing.

It could double and triple its' current size and still be insignificant. The point is that SBI should have ignored it it in the first place and they and gaming media have done nothing but amplify it with their actions. I've always supported boycotting products are stores that you have issues with but I always caution people that with most any product you consume there will be people you are diametrically opposed to and business practices you'll find distasteful.

I was thinking exactly this. It's the development studios and publishers who are making the choice to hire SBI. Nobody is forcing them. If these firms believe hiring them and taking their advice is beneficial for their product, that decision is entirely on them.

It’s because money is everything. Especially when it comes to making AAA games and shitty movies. Whoever runs the cash (unfortunately at this point) is bending at the knee for any kind of strong financing. And companies like these know how to break them.

All of this happening now is the hopeful crack in the dam.

I mean, you have the co founder telling employees to threaten developers.

I appreciate both these points

but it's still a choice. You can make successful games without ESG money and without falling for dubious threats.

Choosing to have them consult on a game for whatever reasons is still the developers and publishers call. They need to accept the consequences of that.

Seems sane people are fighting back and trying to post the truth on Wikipedia.

Funny enough it seems the authors of the article are lying in that talk page. They claim they can't use tweets as a source, and point to reliable source policy. yet the policy states that they can use the tweets.

Self-published or questionable sources may be used as sources of information about themselves, especially in articles about themselves, without the requirement that they be published experts in the field, so long as the following criteria are met:

  1. The material is neither unduly self-serving nor an exceptional claim.
  2. It does not involve claims about third parties (such as people, organizations, or other entities).
  3. It does not involve claims about events not directly related to the subject.
  4. There is no reasonable doubt as to its authenticity.
  5. The Wikipedia article is not based primarily on such sources.

These requirements also apply to pages from social networking websites such as Twitter, Tumblr, and Facebook. Use of self-sourced material should be de minimis; the great majority of any article must be drawn from independent sources.

Just wow.

Here in Germany, it is illegal to publicly state that you will not hire people based on their skin color.

Such actions would violate German anti-discrimination laws, particularly the General Equal Treatment Act, which aims to prevent discrimination on the grounds of race, ethnic origin, gender, religion or belief, disability, age, or sexual orientation.

According to this law, employers cannot discriminate against job applicants during the hiring process based on the protected characteristics mentioned above.

Publicly stating an intention not to hire individuals of a certain skin color would constitute direct discrimination.

I'm pretty sure similar directives exist in the entire European Union.

If there was any doubt that analysts like Piscatella had handlers, it's now time to place it at the door.

Now am i enlightened by stating the obvious.

stick with numbers and percentages.
You say that as if he's good with either of those things. Not only is Piscatella apparently an idiot mark who thinks everyone seeing this is an idiot, he's been routinely wrong about the direction gaming is going in. He's nothing but an industry stooge regurgitating corporate talking points for the stock market.

But it did? Were games in the 90s used to propagate social agendas? Perhaps an insignificant minority, but there were certainly no discoures like now.
Games where seen by politics as a easy target for one. I admit that Nintendo strategy ti make games for kids protected us from some of it and that it is hard to make arcade games political. But as soonbas games got compkex enough to be more than Tetris and be made by more than 1 or 2 people they naturally got human bias in it. From this there is almost nothing that can stop it to get a political message. People just got smarter/worse at doing it. Do you think that MSG2 don't have a political message?

It would be naive at this point if there was an anticipation of company heads admitting or coming forward with stories of how they felt forced to hire SBI and other (because there are of course others, and have been longer than SBI has existed) "consultants" to achieve a target ESG rating or have their bases covered against Kotaku-level smear articles and lunatic tweets.

This has been going on in the industry for too long since the failure of GamerGate (which now is completely dismissed as a toxic movement, and almost no one mentions its real motivation to expose corruption in gaming journalism, and the whole gaming industry as corruption threads were being followed through).

No one will be admitting to anything on how they had to change storylines and characters they had no plans for and their games became worse for it; everyone that is involved will support the main narrative and hope this goes away by throwing mud to the gamers who started the "new toxic GG 2".

I don't even like that it's been branded "GG2". I hate sequels and the first one devolved in a retarded mess. Call it wokegate or purplegate.

The insidious thing about this is the deliberate misuse of language. This woman clearly hates white people. I don't know why. Nor do I care to, but that much is obvious.

However, instead of clearly and plainly stating that she hates white people, she has to use phrases like 'microaggressions' and 'unsafe' because she knows damned well that if she straight up tells the truth, it'll sound as bad as it is. So therefore, she has to couch herself as the victim, and use buzzwords.

The absolute worst thing about the current cultural climate is the passive aggressive inability any cunt has for just speaking plainly. We've created an entire generation of people so used to consuming and spewing out bullshit on social media, that its becoming impossible to get a straight answer or opinion out of anyone.

Not sure why many people have this idea that gaf ignore devs and publishers and only attack sbi like they are the source of the problem.

Umm Hello, we have been trolling HARD insomniac, sony, M and all the clearly woke games since the mind virus started, we know that without sony and the others asking for their contribute, sbi would be without a job.

The topic is about sbi because the current scandal is about them, it's that simple.

The company has worked on recent major gaming titles such as Spider-Man 2, God of War Ragnarokand Alan Wake 2.

How about you sheep make up your own mind and quit listening to other people and online crap.
3 Awesome games and GTA 6 is another one. Not going to play that ?? Grow up
those games also had people complaining about certain aspects of them. Specifically aspects that appear to have been worked on by the company.

Sweet Baby Inc’s president wants DEI hires to take over companies.

So, wait a minute, her actual intent is ultimately to sideline or demote the people who made this industry what it is to begin with? Not equality and finding common ground? Is she high?

I still have a hard time seeing where the harassment is happening in this Steam group. It serves to inform people, not incite aggression, and the owner stated that clearly,

The way these people are trying to skew that is weird.
