I'm about to face Egil in Agni Ratha. Should the Miller quest be available? Could you tell me when without spoilers? Thanks! Shulk learned all of his skills and I really want to unlock his 4th/5th skills rows soon...

It will be after that. It is after you
"finish" the Mechonis area
(not spoilers if you are at that point already.)

Still waiting for Zavii...if not here by the 15th (lawl) then I'm just not getting the game.

I'd go after that refund if I was you. I'm almost a month waiting for mine, but I just got my money back. Thank god for that gaffer selling a copy to me.

If you're going to make a spoiler say what the spoiler is about or a hint, ejsus

In the meantime GAME still won't refund me. Goddamn tomorrow marks 4 weeks of nothing from them and I'm in Europe, a 2 hour plane away.
That sucks. How long do they state you have to wait before the package is declared lost?

I still think it is crazy that I didn't even ask for a refund, and Zavvi gave it to me. They immediately said it was lost in post when I asked for a status update.

Maybe by the time |OT2| rolls around we'll all be able to talk about actually playing the game! :)

Just wanted to stop in to mention that this is my favorite RPG soundtrack in many years.

Although rather unique, there's a certain Chrono Cross quality about a lot of tracks that really appeals to me.

Woho, by chance I passed by a store which had several copies of the game. :D But I probably won't touch the game for some time since I am getting Tales of Xillia tomorrow.

My apologies, I originally thought this was clear since I quoted Lissar's "I can only tell you the quest won't appear until pretty much end game". Upon re-read, maybe it wasn't. My bad.

What is going on with Heart-to-Hearts?

I thought I had all the characters but some H2Hs still "cannot be seen yet", and I don't mean that the conditions are not fulfilled, it doesn't even show me the conditions. Huh?

Some open up after certain events, not just after getting certain characters.

Good to know, thank you.

Now I'm trying to find that unique monster for the challenge in the forest - I'll spoiler tag the details:
Shimmering Forte is supposed to show up on a hot day at the Eks watering hole, I'm there, changing the time from day to night to day (I think just repeatedly selecting 12:00 should suffice but what the hell), still no Shimmering Forte is nowhere to be seen. I don't even know what kind of monster he is. Maybe this hot day is a very rare thing to happen here. Or maybe I'm not at the right location. I should be, though. Eks are all around the place, drinking water or just staying around.

Any tips?

The screen will have a blurry filter over it when you're at the right time, so you know it's the hot day then

In a cut-scene Sharla said we had to hurry back to a previous location... so of course I spent two hours wandering the map uncovering new areas.

Also, the blue raptors will be gone and only the firey ones will remain if it is during a heat wave.

The monster in question looks like a firey raptor I believe. He should be east of the Nopon Arch (if it's called that in English?) on the main path (he isn't actually up in the lakes.)

I just found him. He wasn't really exactly where I expected him to be so that was what I was doing wrong. I always considered the blurry filter to be some kind of fog... heh.

Put a few hours in today and still cannot kill the Breezy Zolos in Makna Forest...

Breezy was definitely the toughest unique mob I've fought so far. I managed to kill him at level 37 or 38 but had to kick Melia out and put Sharla back in so I could have more consistent healing. Just use Shulk's Purge ability every time it recharges, Breezy really spams his Spike defense whenever he can. If you can keep him from casting that and keep up with healing, he goes down pretty quickly.

I found that one to be pretty easy, took him down on my first try without even thinking about it. That freaking Igna in the Exile Fortress gave me hell though. Couldn't beat it even at level 33 when I left the area. Went back at level 39 or so and kicked his ass for some revenge.

Finding that the agile tank is a lot better than Reyn was as a defense/HP tank. Have him at 115 or so agility right now (will go up later when I put a better agility gem on him) and even unique mobs have trouble hitting him. Only problem is that he doesn't do as good of a job keeping aggro. Doubt I'll even bother with Reyn anymore other than building affinities.

Which brings up a question, how is affinity gained? Doing quests seems like the obvious answer but there has to be more to it than that. I think I've noticed a few times where the affinity thing pops up after battle, but it's really rare. So maybe I just suck at battles? :lol

When you do the B button press cheer on prombts during a battle you get affinity, depending on how good you hit the mark during the QTE.

But I've been trying to gain affinity between two female members for a certain quest for at least 7 hours or so now and it still hasn't changed, which I find really really strange.

If you want to level their affinities up fast, have Sharla give Melia a bunch of Dobercorgis. Those things were so easy to find in Colony 6 and I had a ton of them. They give Melia 3 hearts each. Also if you have some spare Sour Gooseberries (I want to say that's what they're called? Found on the Bionis' Leg,) have Melia give them to Sharla. Another +3 hearts.

Ordered my copy from ASDA Monday, August 22nd and it shipped Thursday, August 25th. Got here today. So, 18 days total. Seems fine to me.

Goodbye for a while, all other games.

Can't find Colony9 paranhax that give out raw paranhax meat. Need it for Jackson "the Cook" quest. I've killed some of those monsters but they only drop small scale from the brown treasure chest boxes. Do you need to have them drop the second best treasure chest in order to get the raw meat item?

brown only has common items and only 1 common drop, rare has common, and uncommon drops, super rare has the good stuff.

So yeah.

Also save before opening chests.

Make sure you are killing the correct Paranhax. I assume its like the Amu Milk one where you have to kill the Amus the description says.

Also saved+load=respwan. Use it on these types of quest. Now when its collectables and 10 of them is when you want to write irate letters to Monolithsoft...

Each heart for the QTE in-battle is 10 points (also item/collectables gifting) so 10-30 points generally. For the idea of points to affinity levels here goes.
黄:0~999,緑:1000~1999,青:2000~2999,紫:3000~4999,ピンク:5000
Yellow (Kin is Gold, right?), Green, Blue, Purple, Pink. From this site

Gem crafting (how many turns you get) can be used as a way to see how far you are in a given level.

Heart to hearts are a good way too. 300 for completion, +50 for good choice, -50 for bad choice (but bad choice gives you different conversation...at least the first) so good to save before doing heart to heart.

Accepting and turning in quests also gives some points (there is little chat, usually +20, sometimes +40). Also chain attacks were like +10 between members #1 and #2, +10 between #2 and #3 IIRC. Oh yeah help/encouragement in battle (raising morale etc...) is +20 too.

There is also endgame/postgame (well you need to be postgame levels really) way of doing it well (what this way is)
A unique in Eryth Sea has as its spikes as physical attack=get put to sleep. Stand out of auto attacking range but next to your party members in attack range and mash B like crazy, help gives +20 points and wakes them up (for them to auto attack and fall asleep again) so you'll reel up loads in no time

Edit: A popular tactic that can be done much earlier involves removing offensive arts and equipping weak weapons and fighting elementals (or were they nebulae) in E
ryth Sea
. IIRC, the show up in rain. Anyway, they're very resistant to physical attacks and they have a morale down spike. So Its a case of AI partners attack and you raise their morale when it drops. Weak weapons and no arts keeps the enemies around for longer.

Or not. When I try to use Tiny Load to boot Xenoblade, it just reboots the Wii after loading. Is that a common or fixable error? Tiny Load loads Wii Sports fine.

Alright so I'm having a problem. I got my copy of Xenoblade in today and put it on my hard drive. Problem is when I try to play it through CFG it turns black and white and just stops working. I'd just play it with the disk but my disk tray likes to mess up on dual layered games. Can anyone help out?

Try using GeckoOS instead of Tiny Load.

Just reiterating what others have already said here, but I love that I'm only about 6 hours into the plot, but have played for 25, and don't feel like any of that time was spent feeling bored or frustrated. I can just swim around in the lake at Colony 9 listening to the night music for hours. :)

So that was out of no where lol. *Spoiler for end game side quest.
IDK if it's an end game side quest but need to be safe lol. Anyways I did the red pollen quest before all that shit happen and I went to FV just to see if there are any quests. I haven't checked everywhere yet so why not? Anyways I find the head guy that was selling the red pollen and WTF I had no clue I would have that fight! The music it played, IDK if I heard it before(Think I have.) but it was amazing for ending that little side quest. I loved it.

Now every quest I get I try to be careful. I was lucky I was the same lvl as that monster. Now I'm training on lvl 85 monsters with that great EXP+ VI. Love it :D getting 50000+ EXP is so fun!

Most people probably won't care, but I finally received my copy + red controller from GAME :D :D :D.

More than four weeks after they said they shipped, and I live in a major city in the East coast. Strange, but I am very happy! :)

Just a very quick question- if i didn't put any particular 'mods' on my wii for zone-free playing, but it's homebrew and has the USB loader channel, I can just rip it and start playing it, right?

I don't know if RPGcrazied ever got his copy, but i goess this shows that patience eventually pays off :)

Woot, looks like my copy is ready to ship out. Had an issue initially, but after a quick info. edit Amazon.it charged my account and it should ship out tomorrow. Way too excited for a JRPG; haven't felt this way about one in a long, long time.

I've been playing this on and off for the last two days, and just got past the first major story point (
Mechon invasion
). Really liking this so far, though it's taken me a while to get used to everything.

Some technical questions for the importers, who might be familiar with this stuff: I've considering playing this on Dolphin, or at least on an external drive for quicker loading. Does Dolphin already run this game well without glitches? If not, what is best for an external drive - a USB HDD, USB stick, or SD card? I've got an external HDD, though I guess I'd need to create a new partition for it, but would buy a large USB stick, all things being equal, so that I can copy larger games over for Dolphin / use it for other things.

Sweet, that gives me some hope. Tomorrow is day 29 for me, and I'm also in a major east coast city. I was pretty patient up until about a week ago when I started getting increasingly irritated. But the Hut says if it's not here by day 30 then I should whine about it. 2 days to go!

It's really up to you what you want to use to run the game off of; if you use a USB hard drive you don't necessarily have to create a new partition. I use a NTFS drive that stores my PC's backups and it works just fine without a separate partition.

Finally got some time to play again after couple of intensive weeks at work. Must have played about 5 hours these last few days and am now 15 hours in. The game is still the most amazing thing to have come out on Wii, or any other console for that matter, this last year. Colony 6 is slowly rebuliding and I am heading up. Can't wait to play again later today and it's actually been a while since I felt this way for a game.

With Xenoblade and Skyward Sword (looking like a dream come true) looming on the horizon Wii is getting one hell of a sendoff.

I'm having a good time with the game so far, but I can't stand the retreaded Nomura buckles and pouches character design, when I expected something refreshing from this one. I know it's a weird thing to care about, but it's annoying that jrpg design hasn't progressed very far in that respect. I guess the vacuum of bare midriffed pretty boys with buckles and spiked hair is too hard to escape from.

I don't think you should have expected this game to deviate from that. Part of its appeal is that it's comfortably "jRPG" in so many ways.. but done right. It's stil a bit shy of actual over-the-top Nomura ridiculousness, I'd say.

Honestly I scarcely noticed, but there's all manner of equipment in this game. I would hardly claim it's all open midriff. There's full bad ass armor, skimpy outfits, and various funky stuff inbetween. Seemed pretty well varied to me.

After being tied down with work lately, I was finally able to sink a few hours into it. Mostly just running around the colony, collecting quests, seeing landmarks and talking to people.

The game's initially very overwhelming. It's not really a bad thing per se, but it's difficult to grasp just where to go and what to do since there's just so much of it. It's akin to entering a giant candy store with a million dollars - you just don't know where to go first.

The scale of the game is nuts. The colony feels like a genuine town and the overworld just begs to be explored. Seeing collectibles on top of cliffs and in lakes in the distance was a real thrill, since it means I'll have to explore them sometime. I love a game that strips away boundaries.

Taking control of Fiora was pretty neat, I really liked the scene with her and Shulk on the viewpoint and the heart-to-heart stuff. Running around at night with the beautiful music in the background...the game lifted a few notches here and I get the feeling it'll just keep going up and up.

My only real qualm is with the visuals. Normally Wii games look wonderful on my plasma set, but this one is giving me a little trouble. I'm fine with the models and texturing - the latter of which is beautiful at times, though downright ugly at others - but the jaggies are sadly quite noticeable. I'm also finding some text a little blurry and hard to read, but I'm trying to figure out a way around it. Increasing the brightness appears to alleviate it both issues somewhat, but I don't want a washed out image. I'm currently sticking with the default (normal) brightness - for those with plasma sets, what did you use?

Also, the voice acting has surprised me. I'm glad there's not too much of it, but what's there is actually pretty good. British accents are a rarity in gaming so there's some real charm here, I actually couldn't really imagine the game without them.

Oh and the soundtrack is just ridiculously good. The colony, the overworld, the menu screen...golfham.

How do I turn Dunban into an effective tank? Please don't tell me it's by stripping him off all his gear. That would just suck. Acquiring new equipment has been one of the most fun mechanics in this game so far (loot!) I tried replacing Reyn and Sharla with Dunban and Melia but it just doesn't seem as effective. The tank/healer combo with Reyn and Sharla seems to work much better and increases my survivability quite a bit. Perhaps I just need to experiment a bit more. Like taking Shulk out of the equiation for once.

I'm currently in Makna Forest at lv32 around 20 hours in. I really like the look of this place, that waterfall looks gorgeous.
