I keep looking at the playdota guides, and have no idea how the items relate to DOTA2 ones. Not sure why they don't have a basic mouse over for name/stat script.

Can you not arrow Sand King in sandstorm? I toss an arrow right where he should be and the arrow just disappears in the middle, and he still sandstorms.

I've seen this take place on streams before. You can arrow him but the stun won't activate, only the damage (same deal for other invisible units). Some other spells can also damage Sandking in sandstorm (ground-targeted AoE spells are probably your best bet).

I think Ancient Apparition is my new favourite hero.

He's really strong, been practicing him tonight, his map presence is crazy cause of his ult, and he can go into any lane and do well, side-lane or mid, and his first skill is good for harass and forcing people to run from current position.

When partnered with a stun, it's like auto win lane.

Yeah, also using Eul's scepter after Cold Feet is a guaranteed stun. I also like that if you stun them with Cold Feet, it's a guaranteed ult as well.

They don't want to update the website, it's how it was back during Dota 1, everything must remain the same and hopefully nothing changes.

Can someone explain Dark Seer to me? I mean, I get his moves, but his style and purpose seems odd to me. He's a support/ganker who gears like a tank? And wow does his sprint have a long ass animation to it.

How is this character best played? He seems so weird. I like him.

This game, we were down 2 rax for about 40 minutes, with them having all Rax and 2 outer towers, our Weaver was god awful, had no items and kept dying, but we pulled him out of the skill dumpster with big Ravages from Tidehunter, 31/0/31 Storm Spirit, and beastly CC trains combined with excellently timed Ice Blasts.

Rylai Played PvE game for 30 minutes, defending the throne lol.

He is a initiator / ganker, his ult makes copies of heroes giving your team additional DPS, if combined with a Aghanims it confuses them because it makes copies of allies as well. He has a good displacement skill in Vacuum and his Iron Shell is good at AoE farming / damage in a team fight, the Sprint skill best used for escaping / chasing down heroes. He doesn't really do much physical damage though, his autos are quite weak though, he's more of a utility character then a damage output one.

"Alright guys here's the plan: I'll sheep razor, then we kill everyone else. Astro, defend the base. GO"

Fucking shit, what a draining game. Carrying that weaver out of the dumpster. He died in 5 seconds every fight before 70 minutes.

I don't see him very often, he feels like an odd support character. I don't like how the Iron Shell is described as a shield though, since it doesn't reduce damage at all. The only thing that gets me with him is that I don't know the proper way to use his Iron Shell. I guess just plop it on someone who can get close the enemy units, and let it work.

If you are a solo lane (hopefully against a melee character) you place it on the melee creep of yours that will take the least damage, and just let it do the work for you. I've seen teams use that to send dark seer in a side solo. He uses it just like a Windrunner uses powershot or a Clockwerk uses rockets. You just spam it out to get what farm you can while staying just in xp range.

In other situations, just put it on one of the higher health melee characters on your team and surge them so that they can get next to the enemy for as much of the duration as possible, vacuuming all the enemies on top of them if possible.

Early on in the game, dark seer is mostly an enabler though, you clump people up for your team's aoe nukers, you surge and iron shell your melee characters, you surge people trying to escape, etc. Later he makes huge teamfight chaos, its really hard to push up a tier 3 tower against a dark seer because he will just vacuum you, ult you, and now you have to fight his whole team as well as your own to push in.

Jeez, Pro with a double Immortal going on there. I gotta watch this replay.

I happened to watch an older video of N0tail playing Tort and going something like 42-3 with ~930 gpm 3vs5 and it made me realize that I built Leshrac totally wrong the one game I played as him earlier this week. Made me want to get that much better with him lol

I personally have a problem driving it home with Razor. After 45 minutes, my damage just feels like it falls off. Maybe I just need to make better use of the leash or something.

Why would you pretend to be a pro player? D:
Found a guy who pretended to be na'vi puppey in a low level match, i know it wasn't him because it was a complete stomp (we were 4v5 from the start among other things), it ended like 40-12 and he was only 2-2-4. Plus he started only with bottle.

It likely worked better before the beta started opening up. When there was only 500 players online, the prospect that the Anti-Mage could actually be the real deal was on the table.

Then he did a series of stupid things, and we won without much issue.

So Ancient Apparition Practice night was a big success, ended up playing 6 games, went godlike 4 of them, trying to find team compositions / situations where getting Chilling Touch before stats would be worth it, but I can't. Just seems so easily negated by BKB, and Cold Feet is a better harass early game.

I don't like how slow the projectile on Ice Blast moves when your targeting something close to you, should just be consistent at all distances, even if they attempt to dodge, at close ranges the AoE on the blast is so big it doesn't seem to matter in a lot of cases.

AA paired with a good Furion is crazy good, the ult from Furion combined with AA let's you snipe people without ever having to enter the lane, and if they don't die Furion can just port and clean up.

Had my best match so far.
Played as Lich 9/1/12. I like that you don't have to pay too much attention to the item build.
Everythings relatively cheap but he also does more than enough damage with chain frost.
I haven't payed attention to ice armor so far - I figured, if I'm not in close fights anyway, why bother? Should I max it out, or can I leave it behind?

The point of Ice Armor is to put it on your allies. And it lasts far longer then its cooldown, so you can keep it on 2 or 3 key people at all times, if you have the mana for it.

I normally go Stygian + Buriza on Razor if I can farm enough by then. The damage more than keeps up with those two combined. You can pump out 800 damage crits at a fast rate while reducing their armor resistance.

Ha, didn't pay attention to the fact that I can cast it on others :p The Wiki says there is autocast, should I activate it, or will Lich cast it on Creeps then?

I haven't played with auto cast yet, but I have a feeling it would cause more problems then it would solve.

I think it would autocast on creeps that were getting attacked in Dota 1, don't know about Dota2 though. It's also got an awesome attack speed slow for the attacker, so definitely great to keep on your teams carry/tank when the teamfights begin. But should not be leveled particularly early

So I finally started to put more time in this game.

My god Antimage. So much stronker than HoN's'Magebane.

Also followed the ALL CAPS GUIDE TO LEORIC and won with a Refresher Orb, I felt proud.

I find it useful but I tend to pick it up last unless they picked 3-4 melee. It also snares so I can occasionally use it as an escape if I goof up and get my self caught out.

I'd imagine autocast would leave you out of pocket when you need it most or get you caught in a casting animation when you want to be hitting R or Q.

Yeah, I wouldn't get a single point in it till 7 at the earliest.

Hell yeah, I love multiquote!

Thanks for the advice, I'll try autocast for a few minutes next game, just to see how it works.

All this talk of Lich made me give him another shot, had a pretty nice team of ES, Drow, Dark Seer, Spectre and Lich. We completely dominated every single team fight, was hilarious and I had like 71% physical resistance with Shiva and Frost Armor.

As of right now HoN has more skilled players than Dota 2. I constantly got dumpstered in the 1600 HoN bracket, but I typically do well in Dota 2 matchmaking.

Until there is a more fleshed out match making system, it is likely going to be that way for a while. It does seem a large number of people are from HoN though, very common to see people use HoN names by mistake.

Looking at Invoker's abilities again, I hope I can bind them to the num pad.

Got a beta invite, so you'll see me more often in this thread. I'm missing the concede option from HoN a lot though.

Valve has some sort of ranking, since there are "High/Medium/Low" skill categories in the recent game filter, but I have no clue if Valve is using those in matchmaking yet.

If you mean his different invoke abilities, you won't. You just invoke whichever spell corresponds to your qwe, so you can't use anything without knowing the combo and invoking it.

Yeah, you are most likely right even though Invoker isn't in the client yet. Any implementation other than the current OG dota1 system will completely break the character and ensure that no competitive game will feature this hero because tourney rules will automatically just list him as unplayable. He's already OP for the high APM players that can switch spell combos on the fly, allowing easy hotkeys to each skill would put him over the top.

(note: some dota nerds macro their fav qwe combos to keybinds anyway, but making it default mappable via the UI... no, just no...)
