I just came across this gem not too long ago. It's swings more towards the electronic side of things, with a noir twist, rather than acoustic, but it's all awesome, and I'm sure you some of you dudes in here would dig it. Easily one of the better albums I've heard in a minute.

'Scissors'
'Onset (Escapism)'
'Memory Rain'

Never heard about Blazo before but "Colors of Jazz" is pretty sweet. Have to drive 4-5 hours on Thanksgiving and this thread is going to make it easier.

So I was fiddling around with my Nujabes music today and I realized that the credits song from Samurai Champloo (Shiki no Uta) was very similar sounding to Beat Laments the World (from the album Metaphorical Music). I'm sure other people have made this connection before me, though.

Anyways, I mashed the two songs together and they fit almost perfectly. Check out my YouTube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ppUmoSK2MmQ

Yeah, Beat Laments is basically the proto-instrumental for Shiki no Uta, save for its guest feature. It's always been a good track, but Minmi took it and made it one of my favorite tracks ever.

I'm really starting to appreciate Damu The Fudgemunk's works.

And I'm warming up to Chinoiseries pt.2 but I'm not digging it too much right now...

Love Nujabes type of cuts, but harder? Check that link out. Shit is smooth like a mo-fo.

This is by Yu, of Diamond District. This Beat tape is on that Boom Bap, for you 90's heads out there. The track "Durt" is some wicked Wu shit.

All links have previews of the tracks, and are free DL as well, enjoy.

^nice! thanks man, totally grabbing this one. any idea what extent Nujabes had a hand in it?

Well, I found out none actually (oops :/). But these were , I heard some of his favorite songs, one on the "Mellow Beats, Friends & Lovers" Compilation.

J.A.M is broken beat Jazz trio from Japan; Jose James is from the States: He may have more of that jazz and hip-hop blend in his songs such as Visions of Violet and his new stuff.

+FE Music proudly presents the "Shibuya Session EP", a collaboration between Nicolay and the Raleigh-based exploratory jazz trio The Hot At Nights, led by 8-string guitar virtuoso (and The Foreign Exchange guitarist) Chris Boerner with Matt Douglas on sax/woodwinds and Nick Baglio on drums.

03. Satellite
04. Meiji Shrine
05. The Inner Garden

Yea, a lot of Nicolay's instrumental is is great. I believe there's an instrumental version of the original foreign exchange album and it's great.

Did anybody else get orders in for Spiritual State? I've got it pre-ordered and managed to also grab one of the Tribe Limited Edition versions of it. Lucky that I've got Tribe and Hydeout on facebook and they both linked to it before it sold out.

I love the art that this guy does on the covers.

Do you live in the USA?

I live in Canada. I buy from hydeout-tribe.net and then forward it to me with tenso.com

You give your address to Tenso, and they give you their japanese address with an identification number attached to the end so they know whose package it is. They receive the package, calculate the shipping cost, you pay them, and then they send it to you. Pretty good.

Jesus christ, I wish I would've known about this sooner. I may have to take to ebay or discogs to get the Tribe Edition.

Thanks for the info man.

I don't think their fb pages have english. They don't post too many things so I just click on whatever they link and see if it's something interesting. You can switch the tenso page to english with a button in the top right.

I actually don't even really know for sure what's in the tribe edition. Google translate does its thing, but you sort of have to interpret the english that it leaves you with. I think what it's saying is that it comes in a 7 inch sized gatefold. There's the regular Spiritual State cd in it like this
hpd13tr_inner.jpg

(you can see it is oversized as compared to a regular cd case)
and I believe there's an actual 7-inch record in it as the cover is a record sleeve. The record has a 'tribe remix' of the Spiritual State track on Side A and a song called Scorpion Dilemma(???) on Side B which was described through translation as an "aggressive breakbeat".

Who knows though.

The order arrived today at Tenso though so they should be shipping it out to me pretty soon.

I'll throw in a music link to keep in the spirit of the thread

I live in the U.S. and I'm interested in legally downloading / importing a few albums. One is Beautiful Field and the rest are part of the "Saudade" series -- Saudade Compiled by Pandeiro, Saudade Cocomo, and Saudade Juju. These albums are all compilations and feature some artists that have been named in the thread, such as Dela. Can anyone here help me please?

EDIT: By the way, this is a terrific and amazing thread that seems like it will keep me compiling great music for the foreseeable future. Much thanks to everyone who's contributing.

Yep, it looks like they were timing the release of their international site for the release date of Spiritual State and were holding some copies back for that. This should make it a lot easier in the future to get stuff from them.
