Nintendo Downloads - December 2011

Initial 3.0 update was 3.0.0-5X, now it's 3.0.0-6X. Probably just a small bugfix, or some changes to an individual component like the eShop or browser.

What exactly will differentiate Zen Pinball for 3DS from it's iOS counterpart that was just released for free? I love me some pinball but won't double dip if they are the same.

When I entered the shop it notified me the newer version of Zelda was available and brought me straight to the download.

Also the New Love Plus demo is up.

So maybe that's what that quick update was about; syncing up ambassador games with updates and maybe it'll work that way for DLC add ons ans such too.

They're both ports of the XBLA/PSN tables. On iPhone it's a free download and comes with one full table free, extra tables are $2 a pop. The 3DS game comes with four tables.

I don't suppose that there's any word on being able to transfer already purchased Wii VC games onto the 3DS from JGAF? (I'm fully expecting the answer to be no)

And Bionic Commando will be released next week in North America. I
assume it's the 1992 Game Boy title.
It is. Or at least NOA PR thinks so as their facebook post shows a Black and White GB title screen.

So, Nintendo is putting Famicom Zelda on 3DS VC today in Japan. Did I somehow miss this while on my SWTOR binge or is this news to everyone else too?

I'm sure Nintendo fans will be rejoycing at being able to rebuy thier VC collection, one game at a time. What a mess. "Bu,bu,but you're mot paying for zelda you're paying for the emulator to be recompiled and veside the VC TOS says you only bought a liscense to play it on a Wii System" which makes free hard to justify as well. *cue Virtual passport*

They emulated the Famicom version rather the Disk System one? Well I suppose for worse sound it doesn't have the loading. Or were the other versions also FDS; VC, Zelda CE and Famicom Mini ones also Famico... (Famicom Mini was as games 21-30 were FDS while it was in game 1-10).

I like the icon even if its a bit rough (I'd rather a 2D picture than jaggly model but I guess it is a 3DS). Originally, for the Wii Virtual Console thjey were going to do that (E3 2006 showing was in that sort of style).

I'm wondering if the western versions will be updated to use the ROM that lacks GANNON and other translation issues.

If there was any word, it would have been posted by now.

I'm really hoping that Nintendo will allow some kind of transfer, as I've found that playing VC games like Zelda or SMB on the go works better for me than playing them on the big screen. I love having the Wii VC, but it's more convenient in my house for me to be able to play these games on a personal screen whenever I want rather than having to "book" time for the big TV :)

EDIT:

Actually, what would be the technical issue with allowing you to download a 3DS version of a Wii VC game you owned? I'd assume that linking to your Club Nintendo account would give Nintendo a list of registered VC games, so wouldn't that give them a list of titles a user would be permitted to redownload on the 3DS as they became available?

No, the JPN Wii VC release was the FDS version (as were all of the other NES games that had FDS versions) and so was Zelda CE. Kinda weird that they'd choose the NES version over the FDS one here. Maybe they just wanted to separate the 3DS VC from the Wii VC and offer the NES VC version for those who have nostalgia for the cartridge version? (of course in an ideal world, you'd be able to choose which version you want to play/download, but eh! At least they're archiving the FC version commercially!)

So watching Zelda orchestra video and now there button press at the bottom of video which takes you straight to eshop and link's awakening dx.

Same if watching Sky 3D promo I can go straight to the web on to Sky's homepage.

How long has that feature in use?

Hmmm since Nintendo Video started? There's always a context-sensitive link there.

Judging by how Nintendo Download threads have gone for a few years now, they sure as hell have enjoyed rebuying their physical collection one game at a time.

I'm pretty sure they haven't mentioned it at all since the initial announcement of the Vintage Collection, so when they've got a date locked in I'm sure we'll hear all about it.
Maybe for the PSN/XBLA drops, but VC titles rarely have specific announced dates. On top of that, three of the five games in the collection are already on VC, so they really just need to plop the two new ones in. I could see that happening first and having the PSN/XBLA full collections coming out a week or two later.

Ah, I'm just anxious/nervous about it, that's all. :)

^^Yeah, the press release is out. No Swapnote.

Capcom and Sega are both generally good about announcing dates for VC releases. The problem is that a) they usually don't get the dates until a few days before they're set to release, and b) they haven't actually released anything in a long time (for Wii, anyway).

Here's the PR:
