I wonder why Naomi is landing all these big US roles. Neither her english nor her acting in english is very good.

There are universal techniques for 3D filming but Prometheus is being filmed with some kickass Red Epic cameras (same as they are using on the Hobbit though not as high framerate unfortunately).

Also Prometheus has been shot with focus on actual sets, animatronics and practical effects unlike Avatar. They are only using CG where absolutely needed.
That's what excites me most. A 3D movie without CG. Just amazing sets and effects.

Dream scenario: Cameron sees this, convinced that the franchise is not dead, makes an action thriller in the same universe, with Scott producing.

Jon Spaihts wrote the complete script.
Damon Lindelof went over it after but he said none of the story elements were changed and that it was very much intact after his treatment.

Dream scenario: this movie comes out, it's amazing and they let the fucking franchise die.

Noomie was fantastic as Lisbeth in the swedish films.

That's fine, not disputing that. I was wondering why she is landing the english language roles. Like I said, her english isn't great, her acting in english isn't great, and she certainly isn't there for her looks. Typically actors landing these roles either have great chops, great looks, or ooze charisma, and the cream of the crop do all three. Naomi doesn't check off any of those boxes for me in an english language film.

I have to say, I'm really pleased to see Giger's aesthetic making a triumphant return.

Looks pretty good so far. I didn't have high hopes, but this makes me feel a little better now.

The only way this would work would be in a post Ellen Ripley area in which Cameron and Scott followed the cannon precisely of the books that were released post-Alien movies time line. Also, the books don't take into account crapfest #4 so neither should Cameron or Scott.

New characters, new problems, same enemy of which would make for a compelling ride.

She is there for the same reason Sigourney was in Aliens, imo. She wasn't beautiful nor was she an award-winning performer, but she looked like a strong woman capable of fighting for survival. Noomi has this characteristic, again, just my opinion.

Edit:

LoL, great minds think alike, Replicant =P

I assume that's because the producer are banking on her resemblance to Sigourney Weaver. She's not drop-dead gorgeous but not bad looking either. And she looks like she can hold her own in a mostly male-dominated spaceship.

EDIT: God damn it, Insane Metal! Stop reading my mind.

I am so fucking unbelievably excited for this it isn't funny. This and Gravity next year. Jesus christ.

Gravity has two strikes against it already for me :(

Bullock would kill it, but Cuarón and Lubezki are a force far too great to ignore. The gambit is on the performances. Cinematography and direction are down.

So that humanoid is the Space Jockey? It's clearly not a regular human, unless it's just a different species we encounter in the film. Interesting.

But then there's another screenshot where the main characters are dissecting what looks to be the Space Jockey head, with the design we're more familiar with.

In the screenshot above, it's the same sort of thing we saw in Alien but without the actual Jockey, which seems to be the perfect fit for the dudebro on the right of the screen.

I did see a mention that maybe the Jockeys wear suits themselves, which give them that big alien elephant trunk face.

I dunno. :lol Shit's gonna be tight yo.

In all honesty if the end of Prometheus ties in directly into the beginning of Alien, kill the franchise. Nothing left to do as there is no room for a sequel to this.

I'll answer this in the new thread. Also will point out my concern.
