Snes Starfox over Starfox 64? I don't think so. Music maybe. Gameplay... No.

They also need to replace some of those garbage NES sports games with better games. Who seriously voted for those?

Should probably not trust the 7-11 security cameras quite so much
I'm baffled by NoA's decision to not bring the game over when the Wii is basically dragging itself across the floor like a zombie.

Didn't you get the memo? It's coming out in the US via Gamestop and Nintendo's online store.

I worded my post incorrectly. I should have been clear about the fact that they are bringing it over. It just seems like their hand was forced which is the bad part.

Melee is way higher than Brawl. Famitsu is smarter than I thought.

EDIT: Oh wait, Famitsu readers. That makes things believable. Nice to see that even the public in Japan knows what the better game is.

No, I would rather consider them as a second party.

The game was published by Nintendo right? It is a first-party game. But even if you want to get nerd technical with fanboyish terms. Monolith is a subsidiary of Nintendo. XenoBlade was technically co-developed/produced by Nintendo SPD2 (Iwata's Ask). If that game is not a first-party game. Then SONY nor Microsoft have never released a first-party game in their life.

I know they don't care about Metroid Prime but that is honestly up there for me as one of the best games in existence. !

This list is surprising on multiple levels.

I can't believe so many people placed the GB Metroid II over Super Metroid (which didn't place) or SNES Starfox over Starfox 64 (which also didn't make the list)

The top 10 looks about right but it gets weird really fast when you get below that.

The lack of Advance Wars is criminal.

Its an amazing game for people who love RPGs but not good enough to overtake some of the legends on that list.

Have you played it yet because it is being ranked among the legends that deserve being in the top 10?

2. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time N64
38. Legend of Zelda – Twilight Princess Wii
39. Legend of Zelda – Majoras Mask N64

Majora's Mask lower than TP and OoT?

Yeah, I don't want to live in this world anymore.

Famitsu Readers said:
1. Super Mario Bros. NES
2. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time N64
3. Super Mario 64 N64
4. Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past SNES
5. Mother 2 SNES
6. Xenoblade Wii
7. Legend of Zelda NES
8. Super Mario RPG SNES
9. Smash Bros. Melee GC
10. Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Wii

None of those would make my top 10. Well Ocarina would. Maybe Super Mario 64. But seriously I have Galaxy. Metroid Fusion. F-Zero X. Fire Emblem 4. Zelda 2. Advance Wars DS. Star Fox 64. Donkey Kong '94. Wario Land 4. WarioWare. Zelda: Majora's Mask. Rhytm Tengoku.

Monolith is a subsidiary of Nintendo. XenoBlade was technically co-developed/produced by Nintendo SPD2 (Iwata's Ask).

Yes, in fact I haven't said it is a third party.
For second party I meant a company that it is owned by Nintendo but is separeted and has a different name, and it's a whole different society and not just a developer team.

To make my point clear, just look at Rare: when they were sold to Microsoft their IPs - Banjo Kazooje, Perfect dark, Killer Instinct - went with them and not with Nintendo, even though Nintendo had the said games published previously, similarly I think - I may be wrong though - that it's Monolith who owns the property of Xenoblade, as well as Baten Kaitos.

Mine was just a nerdish subtlety, in any case I absolutely didn't mean to troll Nintendo.

If that game is not a first-party game. Then SONY nor Microsoft have never released a first-party game in their life.

That's a whole different matter I don't want to tread into, slippery slope...

I think I need to move to Japan. Mario64 and OoT are two of my all-time favorite games. I don't even care about the rest of the list lol. But seeing Majora's Mask way at the bottom also made me happy since I've never understood the appeal of that game.

To add to this, I'm fairly sure many people from Monolith helped in Skyward Sword too.

It wouldn't have done any better if they'd released it properly.

The game has absolutely no commercial viability. Don't know why they're even bothering.
If only "commercially viable" games (or movies or books or music) were released, lots of your favorite stuff wouldn't exist.

If you release something amazing and it doesn't do well, you still released something amazing. Much preferable to keeping it in a jar and saying "no." Especially when you have a console that's still selling well and fuck-all on your release list for it.

No.

Rare was never wholly owned by Nintendo. Nintendo owned 49%.

Monolith Soft is as 'Nintendo' as Retro or Intelligent Systems, i.e 100%.

Also, I'm not sure why people are surprised at no Metroid Prime. This is Japan we're speaking about.

Game is highly overrated on GAF. Yoshi is such an annoying gimmic.

No. outside of mario , yoshi is the best other alternative / different way of controlling a 2d character. Most other just feel off(too floaty , too slow, etc) or just copy the way mario move and jump. Only baby mario crying is a bit annoying (and that will not happen much aside for a few hard levels unless you really sucks)

With xenoblade placing so high, i really hope Nintendo allows/ask them to make a squeal. A new planet or something.

Alot of the NES games are far too high.
Apart from that its kinda hard to have a bad list when you are ranking only Nintendo games.

OK, I stand corrected then, anyway you see the point I was making was by no means a fanboyish argument.

Hence I have to assume Nintendo has bought for good all Monolith properties such as Baten Kaitos?
Good to know.

Exactly, Famitsu is a Japanese magazine so it's obvious they have different tastes than Westerners.

Why is Mario Sunshine higher than Galaxy, SMB3, YI and a slew of other immensely superior games.

Has to be one of the worst "best nintendo games of its history" lists ever.

The worst Mario game better than the Galaxies and other incredible and amazing games just blow my mind.
Because Sunshine is a piece of shit.

Good to know.

Square owns Xenogears.

Bandai/Namco owns Xenosaga/Baten Kaitos.

Nintendo now owns Monolith and Xenoblade.

The game rights never went along with Monolith. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. It depends on the companies and the contracts.
