The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Mod Discussion and News [Creation Kit released]

Some new screens to share - here we are with some shots from my game with Gionights settings.

It's all good, except I feel like the AA isn't working properly or something...

Do you get flickering on things like bushes in the mid to long range? I seem to be getting shadow flickering like that, really damages the otherwise perfect look of this config.

Yes - does for me, though I get flickering at the moment...

I'm getting my new 7970's tomorrow so I'm keen to see how two of them in Crossfire will perform in this game :D

I have a i5 2.7 8gb ram and a R5870 I get 50-60 all the time and have at least 70 mods. Should I be ok performance wise.

Wow you can really get some nice shots from Confident's Enb profile. Here's a few of mine.

That third pic is what's still bugging me about most ENB releases. Loving the first two though, the flame effects in the second look beautiful.

EnB still looks too clean and too much watercolor fantasy for me.

Just a heads-up: tried the Organized Favorites mod and it's damned convenient, but the game started to CtD unexpectedly. Uninstalled it and it was back to normal - no CTDs in 2-3 hours of play. Anybody else have this experience?

Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.
Holy hell does that realistic water textures mod significantly improve the look of the water. The difference is night and day.

LiquidMetal14

hide your water-based mammals
I'd actually say not to do that because it introduces a lot of texture aliasing on the water (at 900p, at least).

It definitely improved the look of mine. It was recommended right from the author (isoku). Different effects on people maybe with different mods/specs/settings? I don't know.

This is what I get with 16xAF forced in nvidia inspector. There's a lot of aliasing on the water especially on the left side:
http://www.abload.de/img/tesv2011-12-2103-13-2d7bd3.png

It's probably not as noticable at 1080p.

Does transparency multisampling still make some NPCs invisible? I'm on a GTX 560Ti.

Yes, use transparency supersampling instead.

If you force these settings in your Skyrim.ini files, you will be able to avoid the bad looking water aliasing, while keeping the really good looking textures with the Skyrim HD packs. BEWARE I wouldn't be doing this if you have too weak a system.

Damn... I can't handle playing this game without ENB now, like... if I try and play it on standard it just doesn't even compare. Gionights ENB settings just own, the colours are so rich and perfect for my tastes, Confidents ENB settings are also very nice. I'm hopefully going to get in a lot of play time today - before and after my new Graphics Cards setup, so I'll be able to see how much difference these new cards really make. But damn if I am not absolutely stoked by this whole thing right now.

Also - for people who are on the fence about ENB and it's performance hit, I say USE IT anyway no matter what, just choose to disable AO if it hits your performance too much, yes AO looks good, but if you can't have AO you should have at least have the changes to the colour of the lighting and the world that the good few ENB mods give. Confident or Gionights setups are the way to go. Personally I feel that with the AO turned off it causes virtually no performance hit whatsoever.

I currently have Geonights but im about to uninstall it as the AO is horrible, not only performance wise but also IQ wise, it looks really bad and makes everything shimmer, how do you turn off AO, i couldnt find out how....

I wouldn't really say I necessarily suggest copying mine exactly though.

I'm running this:

3930K @ 4.6 Ghz
6990 + 6970 Trifire (doesn't really matter, it's just a single 6950 or there abouts but the benefit is lots of VRAM)

I already have transparency MS enabled :/

Might try disabling it lol

I'll try the direct lighting change.

edit - Nope that didn't help either :s

Edit 2 - ColonialRaptor, I used your inis exactly and still had the issue. Does that mean it's something not related to my ini settings? Argh this is frustrating.

I am running a GTX460 though, perhaps it's an nVidia issue? :s

What are the graphical asset mods available? There are quiet a few in the OP but I am not sure if any of them are worth it.

Some new pics of my Character, I've changed the face, made her less... 'average' but not so different.

It's still a work in progress, I don't like the hair, I've been using Coolsim's Hair Pack but I don't think I like it, the hair is sweet for sure, but it's just not hair suitable for a Skyrim Game, it's too clean. Probably going to go back to one of the default hair's or see what other hair is out there - I think a Bob might look good on her, or perhaps a Quiff.

I DEFINITELY need to change the face pack, I liked the 'covergirl' look for a little while, but it's too smooth, I need to go back to the standard type of skin, but I really like the lips at the moment, so gotta play around more. Will update more as I go.
.[/QUOTE]

So is there a way to change my character appearance using showracemenu but without losing or resting it's stat/passive skills/racial abilities ?

You can try nvidia's AO instead.

I've settled with this for now, it doesn't look as good, especially at night when everything is just not dark enough, but it'll do. I'll see if I can get a darker nights mod to be compatible, but they're often too dark for my liking.

Ok new issue, since installing ENB (I think it's ENBs fault) the water looks awful at a distance, like solid white texture awful, as I get closer it improves thankfully, but it looks terrible at a distance.

I don't really know :) I was just reading about the FXAA technique. Then i heard using in conjunction with msaa might help reduce jagged edges for foliage. Colonial, can you educate me about the differences about using it for post process and AA?

You know what GAF. Fuck it, I think I am going to buy a PC that is capable of playing Skyrim with the very best graphical fidelity and with all these awesome mods installed. If there is a game capable of seducing me to do this, this might be it.

A question though, I am really an absolutely and totally a noob in regards to PC so... can you guy help me in approximating the amount of money I need to spend and what kind of products/brands I need to buy that will give the best value in terms of money/performance ratio?

I've also come to a similar conclusion, difficulty for me is I need a laptop, and I need it to handle Fallout 4 easily when it comes out.
