Looking good! Glad that they're using Neversoft's original code as the base. Gotta get dem physics right.

I can understand the fact that trying to get the original soundtrack back is almost next to impossible. After all, back when they released the originals the musical landscape and contracts were a lot easier to work with.

As long as they add a custom soundtrack option to the game on both platforms I'll be a happy camper.

Also: Rodney Mullen 4 lyfe.

Edit: On phone, sorry for any typos.

I don't think I'm ever going to be happy with what this game will be. I'll buy it to give it a fair chance, but the only real way to do this is re-release the original versions of the game in HD exactly as they were. Obviously they could improve textures etc but yeah.

Anything less just won't satisfy me.

Jesus christ skimping on music again? It's not like the tracks from THPS1&2 can be that expensive? Not too many big 'hits' on there.

Activision has just gotten about a billion in cash from Modern Warfare 3, they cant bring it to put the legit soundtrack in here?

Seriously Activision, no original OST no fucking buy.

Take $15 dollars. Buy the old soundtracks off amazon, use custom soundtracks. Simple.

I was always a fan of Muska. Even as a kid and in the Tony Hawk games. Him and Andrew Reynolds will be my players of choice hopefully if they make it..

How are the controls?

I'd love a game with levels from 1-3 and the controls of 4. 3 was when they added the revert, and 4 was when they added the ability to level out mid-air, so if you happened to go past the end of a pipe, you weren't screwed.

When they got to games like Project 8, the controls were really weird. I remember playing my friend's copy of P8 and I couldn't land shit. I popped in THPS3 right afterwards (both on PS2) and I was pulling off tricks just like I could in the old days.

Edit:

"They're the best way to add digits to the scoreboard -- no Reverts from Tony Hawk 3, though."

Ah fuck.

List of skaters is disappointing, I only see 3 from the original, one of which is Tony himself. I wanted Christ Air with Bob Burnquist.

Don't know how I feel about this yet. As more and more info comes out, it makes me more and more uneasy about it.
I love all the pre-Ride Tony Hawk games (4 is my favorite, followed by 2).
But all the original skaters aren't in it? Tapes are now DVDs? No original soundtrack?
I'll probably buy it anyway, but fuck them for not using the original soundtrack. I bet they didn't even try.

I'll be fine with it if the controls and physics stay the same.

People need to get the hell over the soundtrack already. Yeah it'd be nice if it were there, but if it's a deal breaker for you then maybe you didn't like the game that much in the first place.

Imagine if they released a version of Mega Man 2 without the original music. I agree with you, it's not a big deal, especially not in the age of custom soundtracks, but sometimes the music really fucking matters. People want the complete package.

Yep, you're right. I just didn't like them. That is why I bought and beat all of them all the way up to Shred. Because I didn't like them at all.

The soundtrack is a huge part of the early THPS games. It set the perfect atmosphere for the game. Sure I can rip all the songs and stream them in-game, but why should I do their work for them? They are giving us a Tony Hawk game, but they are half-assing it and stripping out an important part.
I mean, shit. If they gave us some stick figures on boards skating around a textureless world with the exact same physics, would I still be wrong to complain about them stripping stuff out?

Nah, never mind. I forgot, music is not important. Really, they should just not even put any music in the game at all.

Why would you bring a game back and remove all of its nostalgia?
Because they don't care if it's any good or not. They just know that they have been making shit Tony Hawk games and if they wanna make some money, they need to try to appease the Tony Hawk fans using the least amount of money possible.

As long as they implement custom soundtracks properly on PS3 I won't worry about that.

What I do want is all the levels from the original games, not just a select few. Again, if they DLC this out later I'll be fine with that too.

i'm new to the ps3 (and this gen), how do you make custom soundtracks and play them during a game?
