Was there a grave keeper alt teased in the trailer anywhere? I don't remember seeing one. I've got a few coins left from the double sale a loooong time ago, but I'm also tempted to buy Arcannis.

Gravekeeper looks like prime alt material.

Looks like I got my answer. Not a fan of this one... I realize it's a Dark Souls reference but it does not translate very well. D:

Too busy playing DIII Beta, but I hopped in a practice game with Grave Keeper, not a big fan of the EA Alt... but I guess it's better than nothing, maybe it'll grow on me.

I FUCKING HATE PRED. He wins in every fucking game, it's getting tiring, same with Ra. OP as hell. Nice concept, executed poorly.

I'd say "Gank him more!", but it's pretty much how you stop any hero so it'd be poor advice.

2.5.8 Patch Notes

Goodbye Legionnaire, we hardly knew you.
seriously how will he survive with the HotBL change

Without hotbl? Keep the initial shields, just buy a beastheart and upgrade that later to a behemoth's heart. Or skip it altogether, there are ways.

helm is so out anyway, check swiftlames build (its pretty decent now)

also wtf is this thread doing on the front page, it do not belong

Feel like helm nerf is going to hurt a lot of the strength heroes that currently rely on it and weren't stupidly OP (kraken, devo (to a lesser extent), electrician, rampage, cthuluphant, and legionnaire until I saw swiftlame build--not many people can pull this off though). I'd rather see the cost go up than the item becoming useless. Silhoutte, valk, cd, ss (to a lesser extent) ranged stomp fest inc?

Rest of the changes are too boring... shake things up a bit, 10 mana here, 1 armor here, 10 range there are cool and all, but I want some exciting new changes for certain heroes that desperately need them.

Do note that Hotbl is now 100% chance to block 40 damage as long as there's charges, AND the charges refresh every 400 milliseconds, NOT 400 movement. It's actually better against 1-2 heroes attacking you now. For taking on stacks in the jungle as legi or taunting multiple targets at once with a PK, not so good. OR being a cheesy bird who selfheals increditons and tanks 5 heroes attacking you.

Agree with Anbokr that asides from Helm nerf it's a pretty safe patch. Bulwark and Shieldbreaker still get tons of use so they're nerfed slightly, less popular heroes like Geomancer, Revenant, and Hammer get slight buffs, Monarch nerfed again.

Is the Gemini nerf significant?

EDIT: haha they couldn't even reduce Steam Flux's gold price by 50% (175 to 100 gold). Count Dampeer is 390 gold!

the gemini nerf is 100% going to take away the stat build dominating early game the speed nerf forces them to buy boots also all these nerfs wont change the fact the hero levels stupidly fast and at lvl 16 is one of the best timing carrys

Get your team to make Barbed Wire, less health/more damage items and the Void Talisman against a Predator (and gank early when he is in forest). Against Rah have 2 agility heroes on your team make Nullfire Blade and the support make a Barrier Idol or Puzzlebox. Pick anti-tankers like Predator or Soul Reaper.

Hey these 2 heroes are way more manageable than Gemini. Good to see that hero get nerfed more. No more bootless shenanigans.

all you need to deal with pred is tablets, cyclones, and the occasional green triangle

Pred is easy to counter. If you're support, get Tablet, Void, or TP (unless he gets Brutalizer/Savage Mace). If you're a tank, build armour items instead of HP items. I remember one game where a Kraken built Frostfield Plate of all things against a Pred.

Ra is also relatively easy to counter. If you're a slow support, early game is harder since you lack the speed to dodge his meteor, but magic armour counters him well. Even though he farms well, if your team has a Barrier Idol he won't be doing much damage. Also, don't focus him. Heroes with slows and displacement items will also counter Ra.

EDIT: As Glacius, I thank Chronos for his clutch ults (which always interrupt mine). He builds Staff.

I remember that game where Oceanic playing Pred got fat and all of us built Void or Barb against him and he basically became useless in teamfights.

So I played my first HoN game with my friend helping me out on my team and coaching me. I used Plague Rider, we won. I'd played maybe 30-50 games of DotA back in WC3, but most everything feels pretty rusty. Anyway I'm afraid to play alone now, I might make the Pickup groups rage hard.

Play alone , youre going to get ragged at no matter what this is Hon.
expect to drop mmr for a while but then start creeping back up out of the 1200-1300s in about 100 or so games
As long as you learn the basics -deny creeps , positioning and dont run into fights 1 v 5 you should be alright , also dont go middle for the first 100 or so games let someone more experienced take it .
Plus you can always rage back .

just came across this lol

Lol , grave locket is a great item but nearly none of the guides have updated to show it so a ton of people dont even bother buying it , but it on any agi or int character , or even strengths for the begining of the game for the 700 gold its a really solid item
the death cool down is great in both casual and normal mode and it has really good stats

So I'm told (and noticing) that most of GAF's HoN community has moved on to Dota 2, which explains why there are so few people in this thread. I can't figure out just by going on mumble, so if anybody logs on and wants to help a novice then post here or add me! "Doja"

this was good advice. played a handful of games solo and just tried to play solidly within my skills. won more than I lost, but also made my team rage at some key moments where more advanced knowledge was required. i said sorry and moved on.

Sad, but true. Personally, I'm just getting back into Diablo II for when Diablo III releases, but I still stop by HoN when I can. Even then I still boot up HoN more than I do DotA 2.
