Yeah same here, mine still say "not yet shipped" and I have Prime and release date delivery; in addition, my credit card has yet to be charged.

In all the time's I've gotten release date shipping with amazon, they usually just overnight the package. So no worries.

Ummm, another round of standard question to pass the time:

- I'm assuming every US system sold is under warranty regardless of the retailer, correct?

- Has any FEB user noticed the black blotches on the screen that some JP users had? Anyone knows if that's inherent to OLED screens or if it warrants a replacement?

- Has anyone figured out whether the ugly shortcuts *coughadscough* at the bottom of the Index menu (PS button twice) can be turned off or controlled?

Probably a 1 yr warranty. Obviously, keep your receipt. Don't assume a retailer will just replace your Vita on-the-spot if its broken, under warranty. Depending on the retailer, they may have to send it in for repairs first. And if they have to replace it, don't assume you're getting a brand new untouched one, you might end up getting a refurbished unit.

somehow it makes me feel sad that Dungeon Hunter is above HSG...No disrespect to Dungeon Hunter, but I just feel HSG is such an amazing game.

Don't worry, Dungeon Hunter isn't selling nearly as well. It just jumped a higher percentage (1.459 to 149) compared to Hot Shots (103 to 15).

I don't have a huge problem with his perspective. Everyone's sort of making the same points with respect to system cost, game cost, memory stick cost (my personal favorite), smart phone popularity, etc.

But I must say I HATE the pseudo-political coverage of using reader polls as analysis. Game coverage is too obsessed with sales numbers as it is, now they're going to add polls? In contrast to all the incredible things happening in gaming, the "Enthusiast Press" is increasingly stagnant in their coverage.

A thousand times yes! I'm definitely not a conservative but Ed Schulz is like Bizarro Rush Limbaugh only without a sense of humor: you do NOT want to be that guy John.

This is probably old news but I haven't seen it. I just downloaded an update for Wipeout that "reduces load times."

The problem is that i just bought Wipeout, so I have nothing to compare it against.

Does Rayman have any Vita exclusive features? I just got this game along Uncharted and Wipeout. I also have Rayman for the Wii but haven't even opened it yet.

Damn. Already? Sony is really getting out the updates in preparation for the 22nd. Really nice to see.

You can zoom in and there is some kind of Ghost mode, where you can try to beat other peoples' speed runs.

Is there like a technology difference between OLED and AMOLED? Because my Cowon doesn't have the black spots, but this Vita does.

Yes, but you probably want OLED over AMOLED, because the sub pixels in AMOLED are as such that its hard to have a distinct way of measuring resolution. Furthermore there can be some weird image affects. However Super AMOLED would be something significantly better than OLED. But considering that OLED is cheaper and we are just now moving off of LCD I think Sony was smart to go with OLED.

Was at Best Buy today and got to demo Gravity Rush and Uncharted. And wow, it was good to see that the impressions here rang true. Gorgeous screen, solid hardware design, and tight and responsive control/touch. The analog sticks are smaller than I imagined and it took me a minute to adjust to its size, but once I got used to it I actually wanted to turn up the XY sensitivity in the demos. My biggest gripe would be the load times. Mainly for U:GA, Wipeout, and GR (demoes mind you). It felt on par with console load times. Really hoping this gets better over the time.

Someone mentioned this earlier and I can confirm that the demo unit (well at least this one at Best Buy) does have really limited OS features. The PS button does indeed auto-quit whatever you are playing a demo. And i'm assuming because this was a demo, it wouldn't let me adjust anything in the Uncharted option menus. When I clicked the videos app, it auto played a Vita features movie. why all the restrictions if you are trying to sell the damn thing....?

Overall, i'm sold for a number of reasons. My biggest one: i've been putting off getting a PSP since this was announced and I have about 15 PSP/PSPminis/PSone games that have been waiting on my PS3. Excite! XD

TL;DR: Trigger Pulled. WiFi+4GB card. Couldn't resist the soon to be gone AmazonNoTax+MyAmazonPrime, even though I have a $200gc from Best Buy. Will use that for teh gaemz.

EDIT: Fixed the Wipeout load times? Nice.

I'm still kind of shocked that Skype is coming to the system. I mean, you know, with MS now owning Skype and all.

These days Microsoft is being very proactive with its software. They have even went out of their way to get some stuff on Android before Windows phones. More devices with your software the more money it makes. You just make sure that your software that runs on your device runs better. Also, Skype already has such a large user base everywhere so alienating those customers will be very bad for Microsoft.

Awesome dude!!! Good luck picking out the games, because you'll have a hard time choosing from the varied collection. Add to that some games will be hard to find like FIFA and Wipeout in the B2G1 deals.

I don't like that Demo OS, because it gives a false impression of what the actual OS can do. And I agree with you on loading times. Surely these will get better, though. And the Wipeout 2048 loading times haven't been fixed; they've just been brought down about 5-10 seconds. Better than nothing, but it still takes too long.

Actually, according to The Verge, the Vita's display is Super AMOLED Plus.

If this wipeout info is new news I can time it.

It's not new, the update has been around for at least a few days I think. This thread flies by so fast it could very well have not been that long, though.

Reading the manuals, the interface is amazing! Surprised Vita doesn't have a Books section. Sony would so capitalize on it by selling their eBooks content on PSN Store.

Still wondering why they killed their comic book section as it would extend greatly to Vita with bigger screen.

lol I just noticed since I played with a friend's 3DS Circle Pad Pro on my 3DS. This thing is HUGE! And people say Vita is big... haha

Gotta hand it to Sony for recognizing immediately one of the biggest problems with the PSP.

I expect both may become Suite apps so Sony can have them running on a variety of platforms.

To be fair it seems like they polled people out on the street compared to asking their web audience (who is more likely to have a specific point of view). I doubt it was particularly scientific though.

I wouldn't put too much trust into that... I would think Sony would advertise that if true.

You mean like the speed of the quad core processor or they are rocking a quad core gpu?
Everything is not always listed or mentioned in public ads but taking one look at that screen when playing you can side with the Verge.

Hm... lol Guess I'll have to take another look when I get the Vita in my hands.

It doesn't really matter to me though. OLED or Super AMOLED Plus, the screen is gorgeous either way just from the demo units I have tried out.

So ever since I got my early Vita, I haven't actually been to GAF. Or well. I guess I have but what I mean is I've not looked at the actual forums?
I've had this, HSG OT, and Hakuoki OT open in tabs on my browser and just hit refresh when I wanted to read new stuff.
It just occurred to me that this will probably hit 20k when I wake up and then I'll have to actually get on GAF and look for the new thread.

One of the reasons I did this was because I was "saving" all the other threads to read when this one died down. But it got out of hand and now there is like a week and a half of new threads I'm behind on so I kept delaying going back to GAF. But now I can't anymore :(

But Canada is a second world country.
Yeah it's still broken. I'm waiting for Amazon replacement, but they won't ship until the 22nd. And since it's Canada, there is no release day shipping so I probably won't get it until next week.

They messed up and sent the wifi Vita pre-orders out a week before the FEB. But they fixed that so now I have to wait until the 22nd like everyone else.

I'm happily surprised anyone remembered my posts though :)
