Yeah it's still broken. I'm waiting for Amazon replacement, but they won't ship until the 22nd. And since it's Canada, there is no release day shipping so I probably won't get it until next week.

They messed up and sent the wifi Vita pre-orders out a week before the FEB. But they fixed that so now I have to wait until the 22nd like everyone else.

Reading the manuals, the interface is amazing! Surprised Vita doesn't have a Books section. Sony would so capitalize on it by selling their eBooks content on PSN Store.

But that would require different divisions of Sony to work together...

Realistically, the PSP should have have an e-book reader (there was a homebrew program for it). But it's Sony...

Different divisions of Sony are starting to work together. Just look at how they got rid of PSN and implemented SEN instead. Sony will start to look for synergy soon between their different devices including the Vita.

Can't wait on Uncharted, FIFAan wipEout, and I already had preordered Rayman. Tried it both here (Uncharted and wipEout on a demo booth) and are fucking awesome.

I must say that what made me buy a Vita was Near's capabilities for gameplay and social stuff and PS3+PSV cross gameplay. I have had wished with cross-game play like like Warrior's Lair (Ruin) does.

Just hope there are enough people to use Near with here... still, can't wait!

Ok, did a full backup on the PC for my US account.
Then did a a factory reset and restored from backup. Just some notes on what I notice:

All my Japanese demos copied over fine to PC and back to Vita.
My start screen was restored to my preferred image.
Backgrounds and bubble locations were not saved though.

Bluetooth is back on, even though I had it disabled before. Location has to re-enabled for stuff.
Usage data is reset. Brightness and other misc settings kept as I had them.
PSN password must be re-entered.

Near data updates have been restored, cool. And it finally works again!
But look at this, haha:

I'd expect it to go out on Wednesday, or maybe even Thursday. Pulled this directly from the site:

"Provided you place your order at least four business days prior to the release date, your order should ship from our warehouse within 24 hours of the release date."

So there you go. Should go out through UPS since it's a larger item.

So the extra wait is the price you pay for saving fifty bucks, essentially. I'll take that deal.

Well, according to this article, the Vita uses Samsung's AMOLED technology. If it was Super AMOLED, it would have the pentile pixel arrangement, and if it was Super AMOLED Plus, it would not have it. According to the picture below of the Vita magnified (not my picture), it shows that it has a traditional RGB pixel arrangement, which means it's likely to be Super AMOLED Plus.

Super AMOLED Plus is trademark of Samsung. No way in hell Sony would advertise it. Just OLED is fine.

The Motorola Droid Razr uses Super Amoled Plus technology and is advertised by Motorola as such. They even go as far as to say their screen tech gives higher output [and yes it's a Samsung screen made by Samsung].
So Sony not mentioning it is not a big deal if the screen is in fact Super Amoled Plus.

IIRC someone here said the Sony headset was one of the worst headphones he's ever worn.

Finally got a chance to play around with a demo unit at Target for a few minutes. Man the screen is gorgeous. Really pops and becomes the system's standout feature. The touch is pretty much on par and as responsive as iOS stuff from the limited use I got. My main gripe though is the controls. Man the analog sticks are TINY. For some reason I was expecting them to be bigger. The biggest problem isn't necessarily the size, but the fact that because they are so small you get such a seemingly limited range. My instant thought was that dual stick FPS might be a little tougher to play than they should be. Also don't care for how "clicky" the buttons and d-pad are. I don't' remember the PSP ones being that way.

100% digital seems like a very hard thing to do with only 32GB. Especially when launch games are reaching >3GB.

Content Manager is good for backing up your games if you need space, and you can always download them again at anytime.

When you switch accounts (aka regions), if you don't deactivate when you leave an account and then when you come back to it if you activate again, does it use up a 2nd activation even though it's the same hardware ID tag?

Basically if you keep switching accounts over the weeks/months on one Vita is it possible to use up all your activations and be locked out of all your games? Or do the activations go by some sort of hardware ID tag so as long as its the same system it'll never use up more than 1 activation?
