Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.
from what I was dealing with yesterday (freezing from sleep mode) I had to hold just the power button for 15-20 seconds to get the recovery menu. from there you have options to restart, reinitialize database, restore system, format memory card and a few others.

nope that didnt work either :/

I have been getting hyped up about the Vita due to this thread. I decided to go to Gamestop to check it out since I have not seen one in person yet. Below are some brief impressions.

1. The system itself looks fucking great. The screen is simply amazing. I am a big guy and I thought that the thumsticks would be too small, but I found them to be pretty good and not too small. Face buttons seemed a little small to me, but nothing I could not get use too. Overall, the system itself just looked sleek and very hi-tech.

2. I tried all the following demo's that were available, Hot Shots, Mod Nation, Uncharted, Tennis, Wipeout.

Uncharted - Seemed really fucking impressive. Could not beleive this was a hand held game. Visually, it just popped, albeit a little jaggy here and there, it still seemed really impressive.

Mod Nation - Again, pretty good looking, but from reading the box no multiplayer online...wtf?

Wipeout - WoW! Talk about incredible looking. Very impressive, ran silky smooth, load times were horrid though..but I know a patch came out for the actual game that improved this somewhat. Overall, very impressive.

Virtua Tennis 4 - Simply drop dead gorgeous. Runs silky smooth and just really tells you this thing is capable of some amazing looking visuals. With Uncharted and Wipeout as impressive as they are, VT really shines.

Hot Shots - WTF? The worst looking game of the bunch. Grainy looking graphics, gameplay was good and alot of options, but fuck me did this game just look horrid on this system. I was really shocked on how grainy and jaggied this game looked. Going from the 4 games above and then trying Hot Shots it felt like I was playing an old hand held system. The bad thing is I fucking LOVE the Hot Shots series, but this downright looked really bad. I had my heart set that it was going to be Hot Shots, Uncharted and my 3rd was a toss up, but yeah..not going near this game..it does look that bad. When you have such an amazing looking screen and then you load a jaggy, grainy looking game onto that gorgeous screen it just looks really bad.

Overall..holy hell is this thing for real! Aside from my obvious hatred of the visuals of Hot Shots, overall I was blown away by the system and the other games on the unit. I just got done paying off my truck (8 months early) and really should not spend more money, but I think I am going to go for it...system is just too sleek.

Sony could learn a lot from the Steam store. Prices fluctuate and go on sale all the time. It ensures that more people buy products when their specific price point is hit. I just don't really get it.

Man what the hell, how come the North America store isn't updated yet? This is pretty ridiculous. I dont usually hang on PSN waiting for updates, is it usually like this?

So did the facebook and twitter apps become available today?

P.S. Once the vita launches tomorrow someone should start a psn id thread for vita owners

what they need to do is have more updates throughout the week

Just noticed this in the online manual:

Me and my brother are both getting Vita bundles, mine with Virtua Tennis and his with FIFA. Does this mean only one of us will be able to earn trophies in each game (whoever decides to play the game first)?

I dunno about Virtua Tennis yet. Does it require a memory card?

Because saves are on the game card on FIFA, you'd have to delete and wipe the saves before someone else uses it for trophies. Sony won't allow sharing saves for unlocking trophies.

For what its worth, my plan was to buy mostly digital so I got the 32GB. Then all tje retail sales happened. I got 5 launch titles and only one is digital.

Yea exactly. I did the same thing with the PSP Go. I bought a 32gb card and hardly touched it since it had 16gb built in and when you buy retail you can trade in the games which you cant do with digital. I am going to live with 4gb (since it was free) for my saves...I plan on going FULL retail.

I think both is a good solution. They certainly need to update the store more often, they sure like to update often when it comes to the firmware.

I think every store should have some kind of weekly sale, like once a week at least with some sort of discount, you'd likely get far more people buying something even on a 10-20% discount, and with digital games, there is a bigger savings for them anyway.

Having played the Gamestop demo, I completely agree. I'm still buying it, but I'm disappointed they couldn't put more effort into it.

Got my dispatch email from Amazon earlier today. But it's going to my home address and I'm away so dunno when I'll actually get it.

Still, at least it stopped me splurging money on loads of games.

Whats suppose to get added today?
There's somthing about this device that I can't put it down. And I only own hot shots and little deviants.

Can you easily store all your digital PSP Vita games on your PS3? I mean for if you have a larger collection of digital games than your memory card can hold and it should be less trouble to transfer them from PS3 than to re-download.

You probably can, but I also know with Sony's software you can store all your games on your PC and then transfer them on and off like you would songs on Itunes. Thats what I did with my PSP Go.

Yeah, it just seems like a lazy effort on the developer's side. With the tech in this system and the resolution with that amount of RAM no reason it had to look as grainy and jaggied as it is. The only way I will get it is when it is $10.00 and under. If people only try this game, it leaves a very bad impression of what the system is capable of..yes it looks that bad.

I'm not sure about this. I agree from a consumer standpoint, but from a business standpoint it might actually make enough people to skip paying full price that it might not be worth it. I know I pretty much never buy anything full price on Steam because I expect them to have constant big sales and they do. It's almost like clockwork. If that wasn't the case, I probably would buy more stuff at full price.

I asked earlier about Touch my Katamari, I'll see if anyone can help now. Is this a full featured Katamari or some gimped cut down console version?

Yes it can. When you go from crtsal clear visuals of Wipeout, Uncharted, Vitua Tennis, Fifa, Mod-Nation and then you load this game in, it does look that bad. It is just very grainy looking and does not have that crisp clean look that the other games have to offer. Even Uncharted with everything it has going on with lighting and geometry, it still is way cleaner that Hot Shots.

They have weekly sales and I've been tempted but I was broke for a while until recently. It's definitely not Steam level but their sales on PS3/PSP have been pretty good.

Plants vs Zombies is already up on the US store (by search). But US$ 15 is US$ 10 more expensive than it should be. At half of the price I would have played it for the fourth time.

Another nooby question: how to search for demos in the PSN Store. I can see that some games (Uncharted) has demo if you go to the game page, but can I search for all the PSV demos available? I thought there was a demo for Gravity Rush, but I could not find it.

its not, its awesome. i put well over 20 hours into the game since i got my Vita last week

I have to echo this. If it's sub native res, I hardly notice it while playing it. You have to kid yourself if you don't find the game fun and it looks about as good as the PS3 version. The statements bashing the visuals are exaggerated. I do think that the lobbies are the worse looking parts but they work so well and have those cute avatars that I don't mind.

It an awesome playing game and alot of variety and alot of gameplay...it just looks like shit compared to the otehr games available on the Vita. It is just jarring going from other games or hell even how clean and crisp the UI is in the main menu of the system and then going into the grainy look of this game.

I loved all teh Hot Shots games, so I have no issues on good the game plays and what it offers gameplay wise and a fun fucking game, it is just a shitty looking Great playing game. Especially when you play it and then play other Vita Games.
