HOLY SHIT NO 30FPS THE GAME IS RUINED. /sarcasm

The amount of bitching in this thread is humorous. Many games look fine at 30 fps. Some look fantastic, take Uncharted 3 for example.

People are discussing their disappointment in 60fps relative to the responsiveness Itagaki's games are generally known for and you bring up graphics and Uncharted 3?

Christ.

It's a common theme in threads like this to overreact to other peoples' reactions.

I love Mr. Itagaki but I have no boner for games with unknown/long ass release dates.

To make this easier to read:

February 14th, 2012: UFC
June 2012: Darksiders 2
October - December 2012: South Park, WWE
January - March 2013: Devil's Third, Metro Last Light
April 2012 - March 2013: Two unannounced titles.

April 2013 or later: Everything Else.

Itagaki usually gives amazing interviews, but nothing much he said in this made any sense. He honestly sounds pretty confused and not very confident in his game. Disappointing.

.... seriously?

He's a japanese developer, not a 14-year old. So I believe the experience is much more different for him.

And what's wrong with MW2? You can call it many things, and "great" (literally) is one of them. I know, A LOT OF flaws... but still, great game.

Why is 30fps a disappointment? This isn't NG, get over it.

Are you sure?

Devil's Third is a third person action combat game like no other. Players leap and dive around their environments like turbo charged martial artists, wall running, diving, swinging from rooftops, and generally moving around the world as if the laws of physics barely apply to them. They execute their enemeies using a combination of three different combat styles: guns, melee weapons, or hand-to-hand martial arts, usually choosing the one that gets the job done (and creates the most carnage) in the most visceral way at the time.

That was one of the worst interviews I've ever read. Ever.

"Do you forget that I am the first developer who succeeded to make an online 3D fighter? I am a professional at building a network."

This, right there, was a bitch slap by Itagaki. So good lol.

The trailer looked like an arena version of NG with shooting.

I'm pretty sure the trailer did have a 60fps version actually, so who knows if it represented the game as it is now really.

Really disappointed by the decision to go with 30fps though it's kinda expected I guess if the game has 32 players battles online while keeping the bandwidth heavy gore of NG2...at least I hope that the frame-rate is locked at 30fps with no drops.

Hopefully we'll see how the game looks and plays at E3 because right now the concept of the game sounds interesting but kinda confusing at the same time.

I wonder if it'll have single-digit fps section(s) like long stairway in NG2.

I think that will depend on whether Itagaki is in the right frame of mind to finish the game before shipping it. Hopefully he won't be involved in any sexual harassment suits this time, or being involved in a dispute with a publisher who isn't paying him... oh wait that might still happen oh shit. :)

Why is everyone losing their cool with 30 fps :\ It's a new IP and features 32 player MP. It actually should have been obvious from the first trailer. Well even if his past games were 60 I judge every new IP differenty, and I fully expect this game to deliver an amazing action experience, not going to compare it to NG or Bayo because it's not the same genre.

What's this 30fps nonsense? Ita's depression caused by DOA 2 has led to batshit insane decisions.

yeah when i read the question, that's the first thing i thought!

he put up a bar with his first online fighter that other fighting games still can't reach

it's like they don't play games from the competition or something.

i swear if XBL on Xbox 1 was up and you dragged someone from Capcom online to play DOAU, they would be like "what the fuck, does this guy have some sort of time machine?"

in this case it is hard to discern between real Ninja Gaiden enthusiasts and typical gaf bitching about 30fps. i think the 30fps discussion was old back in 2009.

How many 60fps online shooters are there other than CoD? And this has 2x the player count. You guys are dreaming with these old ass consoles.

How is that our fault though? Although it really doesn't make sense in that regard, how many people do you believe would double the player count in favour of doubling the framerate?

People want the crispness of Ninja Gaiden, I don't see what's wrong with being disappointed by that being absent.

How many "online shooters" are actually third person action games where you control a character who moves like Ninja Gaiden, and have equal focus on melee weapons and martial arts, along with guns?

No it's easy to tell the difference

One side is people interested in this game the other is duckroll

I don't know but I think if both was possible, Itagaki would be the guy to push for both in his game.

He wanted 32 player battles. That's the game he wanted to make and I guess 30 FPS is the compromise for that.

Vanquish. except there's no multiplayer.

and it's a pretty amazing game

What? My original comment wasn't even targeted at the 30fps part, but the part where he says the game will look as good as the Battlefield series. :p

That is the nature of disappointment, misalignment of intent.

For example, the people who bitch that Diablo 3 requires constant internet access. They don't care about what that provides the user experience, they care about what that means to what they do care about.

Certainly Itagaki may care more about 32 player count than 60fps, that doesn't mean people aren't right to be disappointed with that decision.

Put it this way, I am. His action games have terrible art, terrible cameras, terrible level design, terrible writing, terrible acting etc. What they do have is the most responsive and rewarding character action combat of any game ever made. You take away the one thing he's historically got right, and the appeal of the game drops profusely for me.

It seems you're waging some sort of irrational personal vendetta against this game based on your posts in this thread and the survey one.

Why would I have an irrational personal vendetta against a game which we don't even know much about? I like making fun of the title, maybe you're the one taking it too seriously? :)

Someone should tell him he wasn't.

Then again he could have another breakdown and watch Michael Bay marathon 24-7.
