NeoGAF's smiling token!
So much for the teasing about a "burial". No pipe bombs were brought from The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, The Rock, Dwayne Johnson.

Rock kept smiling and looking down, it didn't feel like The Rock was here until the very end and even then he fluffed the "grandest stage of them all" line. Very disappointing. Cena's gonna Cena, but I was hoping for Rock to approach his 18 minute comeback promo that started all this last year. It wasn't even in the same league.

It could have been saved if someone had left the other one lying, setting some kind of boundary for who's the heel and who's the face. I thought for a second that Cena was going to come back out and attack The Rock when his back was turned and he was posing on the ropes. Didn't happen. A very uneventful second hour in general for a Raw that started so well.

That whole segment was garbage. Cena and Rock's bullshit paled in comparison to Jericho and Punk.

LMAO no sorry, get a damn clue. The Punk/Jericho 'best in the world' ad nauseum promo was nothing compared to what we just witnessed, you blind as a bat fool.

What we just witnessed was legit heat and legit rage and something I never would have expected for tonight: John Cena destroyed The Rock. I'm in shock. Rocky was so filled with rage at the end there he didn't even know what to say, fumbling his words, pacing around, he was shook. The wrist promo remark daggered him. Right when Cena said that Rock stepped up closer to him and you could sense he just wanted to punch his lights out for real. WOW, I can't believe this. Rocky better come back hard in the coming weeks.

So I just caught the last few minutes of Raw and all of that Rock hilarity; kind of cute in an 97-2001 way. Was Punk even on the show tonight?

You mad? The Rock is genius on the mic. But Cena delivered a left hook there. Rock was just unable to formulate words together. He was mad!

One guy has charisma, one doesn't. I'm not going to rate their performances like an opera though. They are both going to do the same thing over and over until WM.

If they would just, like, get angry at each other, it might be at least slightly compelling. They teased it last week, teased it this week, but it surely should be a given, not a possibility?
Are we fucking watching the same show? they were LEGIT pissed at each other. Rocky at the end was in a blathering rage. Unbelievable how oblivious and blind you people are

Rock was at about a quarter of the intensity that he usually is during that entire promo, and he was as corny as Cena usually is. Cena on the other hand has picked up his intensity in the past couple weeks and the content has been better. Rock needs to pick it up for me to get interested in this thing.

Impact Spoilers for March 1st(Russo Free Edition)

Backstage, Roode talks about Sting’s attack last week. Austin Aries approaches Roode and makes a passing reference to his recent Twitter messages. They both complain about Sting and want to talk about something in private.

Kurt Angle In-Ring Promo
Angle wrote himself some cue cards filled with reasons why he hates Jeff Hardy. Most of them had to do with the way Hardy dresses and how his own son idolizes Hardy over his own dad. He calls out Hardy. They set up their match at Victory Road. Hardy slaps Angle and they do a agents/ref pull-apart brawl.

AJ Styles Gauntlet Match Against Daniels/Kazarian
Styles gets on the mic before the match and proposes that if he wins the gauntlet match he wants whatever Daniels has over Kazarian out in the open. Kazarian interferes while Styles and Daniels were wrestling and causes Daniels to lose via disqualification after delivering his finisher on Styles. But Styles was immediately pinned by Kazarian and thus Styles came out on the losing end in the gauntlet match.

Backstage, Bully Ray is talking with some random chick about Brandon Jacobs. Roode and Aries approach him and they insinuate that the real menace and the root of his problems is Sting.

Madison Rayne w/ Gail Kim .vs. ODB w/ Eric Young
ODB wins via pinfall after a TKO. While the ref was distracted by Eric Young, Madison tried to get Gail to interfere but as Gail tried to climb the apron, she fumbled her title belt and was unable to pick it back up in time. This allowed ODB to regain control and she planted Madison into the canvas with a TKO.

Bobby Roode, Bully Ray, and Austin Aries In-Ring Promo
All three of them bitch about Sting and say that "they're done". After they each get some time on the mic, they all sit down in the middle of the ring and stretch out as if they were lounging on the beach, claiming that they're going to sit there all night long. The lights in the Impact Zone go out and Sting appears inside the ring. Sting asks them if they are playing mind games like he was when he tweeted that he was done. If not, and if they're really done then that would mean that he would have to strip Aries and Roode of their championship belts and Bully Ray would be out of a paycheck. They all change their minds and Sting books them in the main event tonight against Joe, Magnus, & Storm.

Shannon Moore .vs. Zema Ion
Ion wins after avoiding a top rope moonsault and executing his back suplex into a knee-to-the-face buster.

Mickie James & Velvet Sky .vs. Angelina Love & Sarita
Sky pins Love with a sitout double underhook facebuster.

Main Event
James Storm, Samoa Joe, & Magnus .vs. Bobby Roode, Bully Ray, & Austin Aries
Roode tries to avoid Storm the entire match. Storm picks up the pinfall after a Last Call superkick. I'm pretty sure he pinned Roode.

Post match, Bully Ray attacks Magnus with a steel chair. He then tosses the chair at James Storm. Storm catches it but Bully Ray whacks it into his face with a big boot. Ray stands tall to close the show.

Chris Jericho "I'm the best in the world."
vs.
CM Punk "I'm the best in the world."

John Cena "I show up to work."
vs.
The Rock "Yeah well you're a big doo-doo head. I know cuz Twitter said so."

The best promo was between John Laurinaitis and Teddy Long. That puny shove from Teddy was awesome.

The 3-team tag match wasn't bad.

lol Mark Henry couldn't enter the ring

This.

Can't believe someone would favor that cornball Jerhico and Punk shit. Yeah the Rock's not the same performer - and John Cena will always be a clown, but that heat was real. And rock definitely felt that fucking burn about his wrists.

That whole segment was garbage. Cena and Rock's bullshit paled in comparison to Jericho and Punk.

Because Jericho and Punk aren't being ridiculously self aware.

Seriously, this is one of the main problems with wrestling period. The Rock isn't immune to ti either, but whenever something "returns" or "Reunites" the whole focus of the shit is relishing in it and not actually DOING what made it big time.

DX's return was fairly lame. I remember TNA trying to do an ECW reunion and wrestlers were hitting each other with shit and then just hugged each other randomly after it all.

Just shut the fuck up about all you've done in the past, being self referencial about how something you said in this very feud became popular, about how the crowd is in the palm of your hands and all this shit and fucking bring it.

No one really ever gets out of this shit, wrestling is constantly flooded with past references and what someone did back then and when they come back it's always relished.

Instead of just going to the next crazy entertaining thing like the Attitude era or any other good era, current wrestling just sits and sits on the fucking thing and drives it into the ground to make sure that you and everyone else gets it. They do it with The Rock, they did it with CM Punk's big promo, etc, etc ,etc.

Wrestling is like one bad joke, and not after the other, just one bad joke with the jokester continually saying to you afterwards "do you get it? do you get it? do you get it? here let me explain the part that was funny and remember how i said it it was kinda funny. do you get it?"

Fuck. I'm done with this shit after Wrestlemania.

it was obvious to me. But apparently Rock's acting skills are so good that he's working us. Have to agree with Heavy.

Lol @ people thinking this was an unexpected shoot.

This was scripted all the way. Both these dudes have beers together backstage.

DON'T BELIEVE THEIR LIES!

I got grudge sucked!
Rock just needs to take this shit a little seriously. He's treated this entire feud like it's just about his damn twitter account.

"Continue trending" was such a great line. Cena comes into the ring, I'm gonna kick your ass, then leaves in a cool way. That's what Rock should have done. Make it short and sweet. Rock's best promos back in the day never ran long in monologues.

Agreed with this. Rock best work was always fast, hard, funny and just well done. This was long, unfocused and was heading to pointless until Cena came out.

The note thing was a cheap shot and I'm sure unplanned, but it got the heat that Cena needed, it refocused the tension between them. Its starting to build a bit, but the next time the Rock comes out, he needs to ignore the fans, hit hard and a bit dirty in his next promo. Bring the heat and sell me on that you two really don't like each other. Fuck twitter, fuck cliches and slogans. Bring the heat and put an ass in a seat

Was surprised at how much I liked this. Rock seemed shook after Cena left. Hype levels slightly rising. This and Y2j VS Punk, is going to make this a solid mania, last years was pretty weak I thought.

I felt like this was going to be a let down as soon as he came out and didn't do his "Finally..." and started going into his love of WWE.
Rock couldn't do his Finally... thing because he has never been to Portland before. King even talked about it during Rock's entrance.

Regardless, this segment's point was to bring the Rock back and give Cena a bit of a rub. The fact is that Rock really is a far bigger star than Cena, and even Vince and creative knows this. Rock comes back doing his song and dance, sing-a-long with the People's Champ, trending random things, and then Cena comes out and ethers him.

Next time Rock shows up (presumably in two weeks), you're probably going to have a much angrier Rock.

Still over a month to go before Mania...

I don't even know how I feel about this. I like The Rock and I hate John Cena but they're cutting the same promo every time. Rock being obsessed with Twitter and Cena talking crap about movie star Dwayne Johnson. The Rock needs to come out and lay the smackdown on his candy ass already.

THANK YOU
christ

That wrist thing sure caught Rock off guard and seemed to throw him off for the rest of the promo.

Did Rock always do that wrist thing?

Weird thing for Cena to point out. What next? Rocks gonna call out Cena for not selling moves? Only using 5 moves and just phoning in the last few years of his career?

God I hate shoot Cena. He never gets it right. You point out stuff that doesnt make wrestling look completely fake and bring in legit stuff in order to add a sense of reality to the feud. you dont go "well this is all scripted and your not really that character". it ruins the whole thing.

he did it with del rio if you remember.

Damn son, Rock's promo made you quit wrasslin'.

Just following your shadow.

Nah I've already accepted this for a while. I'm certain after Wrestlemania and the RAW after, there's going to be some very good reason to not watch this shit anymore and it's heading right on into that direction.
