All the other crap Nintendo allows on their service is much much more offensive to God.
Booooo, c'mon Nintendo.
And yes, jump on this, Sony. Vita would be a great platform for this, especially with the twin sticks.
I'm actually curious about more recent examples than BMX XXX (since clearly they decided "fuck it, nevermind" with God of War) for censorship, and 2D... it's been clearly established they do not give a fuck about it for DD, even retail it seems a matter of the publisher and the game involved. Not that I can't see them taking a similar stance as Nintendo, but at the very least the second point is, for this specific game, completely irrelevant.SCEA won't jump on it because a) they require you to censor your games down, unlike modern Nintendo as stated numerous times in the thread and b) their anti-2D policy.
I'm actually surprised that they allowed Devil survivor on the DS, though it probably isn't as overtly offensive as binding of Isaac.
That said though I think its bullshit to censor things like this. It should be allowed on but just put in an mature section or something.
Sounds like opportunity knocking on Sony's door...
They'd slam it quicker than Nintendo.
Or rather, I doubt Team Meat would ever go to them after the apparent brouhaha over Super Meat Boy.
They have no beef with Sony. Team Meat pitched Super Meat Boy to Sony, they never heard back from them, so they went to Microsoft instead. That's pretty much the extent of their interactions. They'd slam it quicker than Nintendo.

This is a whole another issue that I think is completely ridiculous. Why is an AO rating the kiss of death? What's the point of even having it then?
It's bad enough Nintendo won't attempt games like this, they won't let others make them either. Bodes poorly for future efforts.

Because Wal Mart won't carry AO titles.
No, it just seems very plausible. Given God of War it's not far fetched that it'd get away with an M, though the religious themes may make them push it over even if technically it shouldn't and, objectively, there are worse games already out there. So are we 100% this would get rated AO?

If you read the content descriptors on the ESRB site, just about the only ones that don't apply to BoI are about "real [or] simulated gambling," lulz.

This is why I dislike Nintendo and their brand, because of their policy on the values of the content available on their platform being judged and controlled by them. It's in my opinion quite counter-intuitive that a platform holder actually narrows the potential expressions of that platform's content, because Nintendo holds the opinion that no one should ever be offended by the controversial content: No swear words, no nudity, no religious statements/criticism, etc.
ITT, people act as it Sony or MS would publish such a game without any concerns on their plattforms, especially without the ESRB rating.
It sucks but it's not really shocking ...
Countless murder simulators... no problem.
Binding of Isaac... oh no we can't have that.
That's like saying they show a little skin on a TV show, they might as well show snuff films. I like Binding, but honestly it's lucky Valve approved it for their service. No console maker is going to let it anywhere near their service.Countless murder simulators... no problem.

Binding is worse than Postal 3 easy. Postal 3 is just lazy instead of disturbing, and it's not on any console as far as I know. It also took a long time to get on the US Steam. I know nothing about Naughty Bear.Postal 3.
Naughty Bear.
Crap posts like these are offensive to god too.
There is a difference between shovelware and a game that would get an AO rating.
Postal 3.
Naughty Bear.
Was about to say that. Unless there's an obscure uncensored version, it was rated T and released on both PS3 and 360.. twice (since after the original release, an edition with some DLC was released).Naughty Bear is rated T. I can't begin to imagine why you'd bring that up around this game.
There was a bit fuss about Manhunt 2 being on Wii and getting an AO rating and it didn't seem to bother Nintendo. It only seemed to be censored because Rockstar wasn't going to be able to sell the game at all.
-Nintendo is free to say what they do or don't want on their systems.
-The game is not some turning point for the medium.
-It exists elsewhere.
If Binding of Isaac gets released on any console I'll stop posting on GAF for a month, if it's the Vita, three months.
I was going to post "eat my hat" but I don't have any hats to eat. Not because I've eaten them before now due to other bets, but just because I'm not a hat person.
McMillen said Team Meat and its publisher are looking into bringing the game to "1-2 Sony platforms," while Team Meat's publisher determines if such a port is worth pursuing. And hey, didn't Sony just bring out some new thing with two analog sticks?
Well well well... Start packing soon! :lol

Problem with the AO rating (unlike in film) is that there's no productions worth a damn or have any talent behind them that utilize it. Therefore we continue to see a industry defined by (when it comes to graphic subject matter) juvenile and cheesy content at best, and I include Isaac in this group.
We need a dev of proper funding and talent totally okay with large estimated losses and huge media backfire to come out with the "Salo", "Martyrs" or "Philosophy of a Knife" of gaming. I'd bet you could make something intensely disturbing and shocking if interactivity and gameplay were infused well enough. Give Miike or Andrey Iskanov a 80 mil budget and total freedom on the Wii U, and we'd get something we've never seen before...literally.
Anyway, extremely lame of Nintendo to encourage this irrelevant censorship on dev's. All it does is hurt the development community, 3DS market and fans.
Why would you put Martyrs in the same list as Salo and POAK? Martyrs is a really good horror film while the other two are just ridiculous torture/shock value "movies".
Plus I don't think we really need games like that. If you want torture games there's some on the interwebz.
Your description of Salo makes Dave a sad panda. It's a little more nuanced than that.
