I would have preferred the series stay in Europe, but this should be interesting nonetheless. Plus it'll be a learning experience for Europeans who don't learn much about the American Revolution in school.

The founding fathers better be templars. Wouldn't even make sense otherwise.

I take it no one remembers how horrible and boring the landscape exploration of the original Assassins Creed was, and not to mention in a similar vain the vast field of green and little small sprinkled houses around San Gimignano ( not the main city ) were terrible. They were always the worst parts of the series.

Fuck I told my friends after the first AC came out that it would be cool to have an AC game set during the American Revolution. So pumped.

I'm fine without the building-climbing system. If they can create a fresh system in its place, then good for them. I'm all for it. It's a positive thing to radically change up the mechanic systems in the series, providing they're confident in what they've developed.

I never played Metal Gear Solid (planning on doing it eventually) but is there a lot of outdoorsy-stealth in that game? Like wilderness type?

Metal Gear Solid 3 is essentially all outdoor in the wilderness.

With this and the "poster" I'm really not getting a good vibe from this setting.

I guess we will be climbing lots of trees and mountains for vantage points?

This is going to be very interesting to see what they are going to do

I'd say he's got identity issues, what with the Native American-like leggings he's wearing, along with the colonial-era jacket. Pick a style, man!

He was once part of the conquerors, but he got injured once in a battle against the wolf tribe, said tribe took him and instead of killing him they healed him and trained him in the ancient fighting and hunting arts, then he felt in love with the chief's beautiful daughter who also taugh him the tribe's language.
Now the conquerors are planning to launch a definitive attack to the wolf tribe and he must choose a side, but which side would that be? Should he follow his brain or follow his heart?

so if the rumors are true I predict the story to go:
evil templar europeans get to america and want to enslave all the peaceful natives who never knew war before the evil templars showed up, our protagonist is an assassin somehow and so has to stop the evil templars

although given that the US exist in the AC universe he either falls flat on his face, or he convinces the evil templars to become good, kinda seems like a lack of assassinations going on given that none of the founding fathers were assassinated, meh we'll probably have to assassinate Washingtons assistant or something

If the guy is native american, I wonder where in Desmonds ancestry he comes in.

From memory, Desmonds dad, Subject 16 and Altairs son all look pretty similar, and I'm still not sure what Altair and Ezio actually look like considering the whole Animus thing and if Desmond resembles them, and we know that Ezio isn't a descendant of Altair and their lines meet up at some point, maybe eventually leading to Desmonds fathers side?

So it is possible that this new character is from his mothers side maybe?

Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhh, that character design doesn't work. They should've gone for something in the vein of Brotherhood of the Wolf.

I wish they wore those outfits in the movie for more then 2 seconds, also some cool stuff aside, not a particularly great movie.

Also if this really does have a new engine, and has been in development for 3 years, considering the new setting, I really expect some very different gameplay then the past installments, though I expect climbing and stuff to still be a option.

Could be interesting. Could also suck balls. Only time will tell.

Would've preferred French revolution myself, but oh well.

How? I thought they were, and that was the whole point of it.

The setting doesn't really seem to mix well with AC. I enjoyed the other games though so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt until we know more details.

Ezio is a descendant of Altair.

No their not, they are two genetic lines of Assassins that meet at some point and lead to Desmonds that Altair and Ezio are from.
The Animus can go back anywhere in your genetic ancestry, it isn't a straight line between them all going back in time, Altair had a son and Ezio has children, at some point descendants of both cross paths.

It has been confirmed by writer Darby McDevitt that Ezio and Altaïr are not related but come from two different sides of Desmond's family, yet they do share the same face with minor differences, when Ezio is at a younger age.

I don't expect much more than a geographic and tonal shift. If it's only been in development just less than a year then how intrinsically different gameplay-wise can it be?

-I don't mind the American setting, it's a cool one
-The clothes look stupid in that setting, completely out of place, hope this is changed
-I hope George Washington is a bad guy. Or at least starts off as a bad guy. Wonderful spin on the whole thing.

I love how people are so afraid of change.

I don't think people are afraid of change. Most people in this thread were just hoping for a different setting. I really can't blame them either, most of the other settings discussed sound far more suited for an Assassins Creed game.

Europeans like me are gonna get such a kick out of shamelessly and ruthlessly slaughtering American Confederates and Unionists alike. As for my hopes for the game itself, I don't expect much more than a geographic and tonal shift. If it's only been in development just less than a year then how intrinsically different gameplay-wise can it be?

its been in development for 3 years

That character design looks so fucking out of place in the setting. They should have gone for a redesign, but I guess the focus testers weren't crazy about that idea or something.

Europeans like you need to learn the difference between the American Revolutionary War and the American Civil War

I was looking forward to actually rooftop hunting Jack The Ripper in foggy, steamy rain soaked London. For shame Ubisoft, but as I said I'm not surprised. Is there any series this company hasn't destroyed?

Rayman? Potentially?

This anti-American bullshit in this thread is getting tiring as fuck.

you are exaggerating, there is a difference between a colonial young town with two story buildings and tiny churches compared to 500 - 1000 year old cities with full architecture

Not to be too pessimistic, but as a European I feel like I've been over-stimulated by this particular setting too many times. Already I have encountered multiple depictions of the history of America thanks to the
imperialistic
culture export from the US.

Should have gone for late 19th Century London. Maybe in the vein and artstyle of the Guy Richtie Sherlock Holmes movies.

Or From Hell.
