Yeah....look at all those 4 story buildings!! I can't wait to climb to the top to unlock a viewpoint and see the big environment......oh wait.... THEY ARE ONLY FOUR FUCKING STORIES TALL!!

Oh, you mean like Assassins Creed 1, where 90% of the buildings were 2 stories tall?

Really, guys? "I'm not interested because I'm not American?"

Are you all Italian? Are you all from the Middle East?

No, I am very much American. It is just that the series has worn thin for me with the past two yearly releases, and it is such a departure from the type of settings that the series has had thus far, that I am simply not feeling it.

However, I am hoping that such a different setting will ultimately prove to reignite my interest. I'll just have to wait and see, but am just not keen on the idea of Assassin's Creed taking place during the American Revolution right now. Nothing anti-American about it.

Is that what makes you happy in the AC series? Climbing?

I also don't think ditching the hood would be a good idea but maybe they could let you take it on and off the character's head, it's a small thing that would help in reducing the disconnect so many feel with the stealth and blending since AC2. Ezio didn't wear the hood during many of the Revelations cutscenes so the model was there to use too. Don't even need to animate the hood coming off, just make it an option in the "costumes" part of the menu or something.

Anyways, it's not like the series is going to end here. We'll probably have a game everywhere. If anything, the other setting will look better because they will on next gen consoles.

Impossible due to the lore, IIRC
Desmond can only replay memories of male ancestors until they have their first child.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

AC reboot with a girl in modern times in the animus could well mix things up.
+1 for sexy assassin chick

Not necessarily first child- just the one in Desmond's lineage. Men make sperm every day, but women are born with all of the eggs they'll ever have.

Not to say you can't have him relive the memories of a female ancestor some other way- the Masyaf Keys were used to record Altair's memories long after he had his children- it just can't be done through the animus.

i like how the reason everyone thinks there should be a female main character is because then they can make her sexy

As nice as that would be, that would mean they have to go "back" in time to get the correct period for England or even France, which is by far, the 2 most interesting places they SHOULD have done.

Quest Log:
Benjamin Franklin needs 10 yards of string for his kite! Fight those bandits and get the string from their clothing.

Looks like there is an outbreak of cholera! Use Eagle Vision™ to locate the contaminated well.

George Washington has misplaced his powdered wig! Track down 8 horses and shave them to get the hair to make a new wig.

Yeah, something like that (I had to google Lawerence of Arabia and still didn't get all of it, I'm historically illiterate lol).

Mainly I care about the architecture and culture and I think the Asian side would be more interesting. But to be honest I know nothing about American history beyond cowboys so I wouldn't know.

Read up on the American Revolution. It's a really fascinating part of American history.

I'm highly critical of America today, but even I admit that American history is fucking awesome.

You're talking about gamers. What do you expect?

I have no doubt that ship's masts and ocean lighthouses would make fine synchronization points. Or maybe even trees in the forest. Imagine the stealth assassination of two Redcoats making their rounds through a narrow road under a forest canopy...

Reliving a shower scene with Masyaf keys here we go!

what makes the american revolution exciting compared with, say, the french revolution? were there events like the declaration of the third estate that they were the new national assembly, tennis court oath and the storming of the bastille?

we don't learn about american history in britain (lol)

What? You realize that America fought against the British.. Right? Why are you not learning that?

Well in America, we don't talk much about the wars we 'lose'

i.e. Vietnam, Korea

Up till what point does the educational system in britain teach the american revolution? Just wondering.

Why would they learn about how they got their asses handed to them by a bunch of yokels? :D

of course i realise that the americans were fighting the british

my own opinion is that in the UK there's a tendency to shy away from teaching kids about the empire because it is still such a political and ethical hot potato

that's why we obsessively study a ten year period of german history and the russians, because we can avoid self-reflection

I thought Americans "won*" the Korean War?

*I'm aware the war is still technically going on but you guys did take half of their country and took it away from communism.

if Desmond is back (I'm assuming he will be? I haven't beaten Revelations yet), I really hope they go back to his AC2 & Brotherhood character model, even if it's not as technically impressive.

His new one for Revelations looked like a fresh water fish mated with Adam Sandler. :/

His weapons all seem to point to his Native American heritage. Bow and arrow, spear, tomahawk.

If the AS team try to make that game, where you play as an assassin from one of the "Five Civilized Tribes" of Native Americans going up against American revolutionist (and their European sponsors), then gamers will get a real dose of the kind of unfair censorship that exists in the U.S.

Politically controversial material of this subject matter and magnitude will never be released in the West without a hard fight.

It would be monumental if they did try to go the route of attempting to expose the sort of Hegelian Dialect Republic America became and the genocide of the Native Americans we committed in the process. Give the younger generation a different perspective of the history of United States that was left out of their school history books.

Politicians would most likely block it and have the media attack UBI but at least it would draw much needed attention to the kind of censorship gamers really need to have no tolerance for.

It is one thing to be forced to have an unfair AO 21+ rating from the ESRB. It is quite another thing to have your game completely blocked for political reasons like Wolfenstein was in Germany. I am not saying that Germany was wrong for blocking Wolfenstein but that it was blocked for the same political reasons America would try to block this game if it contained what they consider to be "objectionable material".

i don't know if it's changed, but up until the age of 18 i'd never covered any british history at all directly

it had come up in other historical topics, i.e. the history of medicine, early modern history (which was an optional period at a-level), but we never had 'british history' classes or modules

I don't know, maybe it is just the idea of running around with people dressed in colonial garb that is throwing me off. But the idea of playing as a Native American is something I am finding more intriguing, as I think about it. At least it appears that he will not look like this, lol:

If you really want to reduce it to a dick-measuring contest, the American revolution has plenty of interesting events, factions, etc.

-The Tea Act/The Boston Tea Party
-Loyalists v. Revolutionaries
-"Common Sense" by Thomas Paine
-Women acting as spies and couriers for the Revolution
-Deborah Samson fighting in the war, disguised as a man
-The Battle of Bunker Hill, where something like 800 British soldiers died
-Revolutionaries stealing gunpowder and other supplies from British forts
-Crossing the Delaware on Christmas to fuck some Hessian shit up
-Battle of Saratoga

edit - god damn, that's a cover

Actually after reading about Lawrence of Arabia you got me interested in our own history, maybe I'll get to America later :p

Interesting. Where I'm from we do learn about our History but I think that's because we've always been the "victims" (from the Spanish, British, Americans, etc) but our history is truly boring, being a slave in this period, being a slave in that period, other countries fighting and the winner gets us, etc

I guess that's why they teach us a lot of history from other countries, since ours is really pathetic and boring.
