Hail, peons, for I have come as ambassador from the great and bountiful Blueberry Butt Explosion
If people don't mind.

If I had to play JUST ONE of the Ezio games before this comes out, which one should it be?

Basically, don't wanna burn myself out on the franchise before this hits ....made that mistake when I platinumed Arkham Asylum and went straight into Arkham City =(

Honestly, I would say AC2 is THE one you should play, but shit actually happens in AC Brotherhood and Revelations.

I would say AC2 and Brotherhood. Revelations is a big maybe.

This will be fucking amazing. I keep getting excited, then I quickly dissipate that thinking, "Yea but I'm really sick of Ezio" then I realize A TOTALLY NEW CHARACTER and my hype goes back up. And I'm excited for no more bad accents (possibly). Hopefully this one is much more polished.

And to those that hate the costume design; a lot of people disliked Ezio's outfit when he was first shown. And change is scary I know *pats shoulder*

Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhh, that character design doesn't work. They should've gone for something in the vein of Brotherhood of the Wolf.

I haven't had any particular interest in AssCreed games in the past, but man, this setting sounds awesome.

Still not sure how they are going to explain the Native American angle, but it will be interesting.

The first Special Forces unit in modern warfare operated during the War of Independence -- some of their tactics were based on Native Americans (the unit was actually formed in the Seven Years War). Maybe there's a connection.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention they were British.

Man, I am not sold on this setting yet. It may be fun, but it wasn't what I wanted. This will be interesting, that's for sure.

His design looks so freaking out of place. :lol

Erm, did you skip all the bonus content in the previous AC games? The hidden message code stuff throughout the series confirms that Washington is a Templar, and that America in general is a country created to further the Templar cause by creating a culture and society that is most easily controlled by the Templar order's ultimate plan.

It's not new.

...Huh, I had forgotten about this. I was sort of assuming England would be Templars and the States would be ASSASSINO~, but if they hold true to their canon, this could be interesting.

His weapons all seem to point to his Native American heritage. Bow and arrow, spear, tomahawk.

Not the flintlock pistol, though.

Which AC game was this? If this was in DLC I didn't play it.

I like the idea of an Assassin working in secret with George Washington etc to defeat the British (it looks like he is pointing to something on a battlefield), but just use a guys face and kill the hood. It must be done, no one wore hoods like that back then.

Still not sure how they are going to explain the Native American angle, but it will be interesting.
Am I the only one expecting this to be possibly offensive?

I bet all the people who feel this setting is 'boring' would be creaming their pants if it was another jaunt into the overplayed feudal japan setting.

Seriously, this is a setting we've rarely if ever been in a game before. That in of itself makes it more exciting than alot of the wishlist settings thrown out.

When you solve the various puzzles to unlock pieces of "The Truth" in AC2 and AC:Bro, you also learn a lot about the history of the Assassin's and the Templars, and learn which historical figures had Pieces of Eden, how they used them to create history, etc.

It's not far off from the truth, either. I wouldn't be surprised if Obama and Romney/Santorum/Gingrich colluded this fall (think about it, it's right around the time of the elections) to bury the truths Ubisoft is trying to indicate to us. We are the Templars, America. Weep for what we have become.

I'm so fucking hyped right now. Seriously, I've been asking for this setting since AC2. Man, if Thomas Paine is in this game, I won't even know how to react. My Photoshop skills aren't worthy of doing an OT, but damn, if whoever does the thread needs help with the backstory of the war and its characters, let me know. This is -- without question -- one of the most important events in the history of the modern world.

There's almost no question of it being offensive to some degree. I'm just hoping they avoid the usual NOBLE SAVAGES SPIRIT ANIMAL WAHALO bullshit most native characters do. Fingers crossed that the protagonist is native american.

I don't know why, but putting an American flag as the backdrop in an image just looks gaudy.

Just screams "FUCK YEAH, AMERICA!!!!!!!!! *guitar solo plays and a bald eagle sheds a tear*"

My disdain for the direction of the Assassin's Creed series after the first game continues to grow. How much cooler would France have been? But no, now we get to go from climbing around castles and world wonders and shit to scaling Lincoln Log forts.

I did all that stuff and I don't remember it, this makes me angry. Maybe I'll look it up soon.

But can we actually use them? The ACI CG trailer showed Altair getting all badass with his crossbow, but then we got bupkis in game. I'd really like to have new weapon variety, so I'm hopeful they've adjusted gameplay to allow for the use of this stuff.

Hype rising.

I don't care for the setting, but the character choice is so interesting that I think Ubi will make it interesting.

Hype.
Also want to see some scanned image of the gameplay since it should be running on new engine.

Interesting choice of setting and I am totaly down for the surprise, even though I dont know much about history in the States.

Meh, Thomas Paine? Yeah right. Use some common sense, he's a nobody on the stage of history.

France could've been decent, but at least this is completely different from both of the previous locations.

Not the flintlock pistol, though.

That's what's so interesting about this setting. There really isn't a good guy.

I'm wondering if we'll end up calling this game "Red Dead Assassin". I realize Red Dead is set much later but in terms of traversing the environments I'm imagining riding on a horse more than climbing tall buildings.

Yeah that's true. I really hope they're not trolling with the weapons, since it would really add to the gameplay with new stuff like this.

I don't disagree from a marketing perspective. But some Brotherhood of the Wolf shit would be pretty badass.

Marketing-wise, it's obviously untouchable. But just from a visual flair and aesthetic perspective, the AC games have created a visual language that people have embraced so why fuck with it?

The whole series takes artistic license with history, but a hood is the breaking point for suspension of disbelief? Seems a little silly to me.

If new Assassin is Native American.......isn't he setting up his fellow natives up for the subsequent genocide?

gave away the keys to the kingdom.
I can't say the setting greatly intrigues me, but since this is an Assassin's Creed game, I'll love it all the same.

There were four major cities implied by
the flare on the map that Jupiter showed Desmond at the end of Revelations
- Boston, New York, Philadelphia, and Montreal- so this fits perfectly.

It would be interesting to see how this pans out, as far as who are Templars and who are Assassins. The pure ideals of the revolution imply the founders would be assassins and loyalists would be Templars. However, many of the founding fathers were Freemasons, a group believed by many conspiracy theorists to be the modern incarnation of the Knights Templar. Throwing in the fact that many of them were slave owners could also tilt them to Templar status. Perhaps this will be a time when the distinctions between the two factions are more difficult to discern?
