Man, talk about disappointing.

343 doesn't get it.

1. Super grey and dull map design with no color or personality. This is fucking Halo not Modern Military shooter X. Where are the bright fluorescents?

2. Mechs being built. (This would never happen in the Bungie universe).

3. Perks (Halo chasing after Call of Duty).

I will commend the audio team. Very nice music.

1| First map looks phenomenal, but I agree that I would like to be reassured that the game's not completely grey.

2| Non issue

3| Concerning.

Best news: return of the burst fire BR, and hopefully 2x scope (rather than 3x DMR).

The DMR did so much damage to Reach, it's mind-boggling to me how it shipped. More than anything else shown or said so far, that shift has me excited for Halo 4. From the snippets show, the jump and movement attributes are back to being Halo again as well. I'm delighted.

1. We have barely seen the maps fully, so kind of kneejerk to say that it all with be dull and with no personality.

2. This isn't Bungie's game. It's 343 time to put their own stamp on the series.

3. We have yet to find out how deep it goes.

Appears the person in charge of halo 2 mp was the only to ever get it

I find it hard to really form an opinion based on that footage.

Nothing really bad but nothing that really impressed me either.

I am quite confident that the finished game - like all the previous games - will impress me with what can be forced from the 360.

Edit: Plywood saves GAFs honor.

Graphics look amazing. The perks concern me, but Frankie made it sound like some playlists wont have them in one article. I also hope custom games are back.

Maybe they are from AAA teams...but that doesn't mean they have worked on the best looking games availabe...Well, i'm sure about that if someone says that this is the best looking console game...¬¬

I hope to see something more impressive during the show..
 
In the video, they briefly touch on the idea of making the player feel more like a superhero. I really hope this is more than just lipservice, because this is one aspect that has always felt off about Halo to me - I feel like a normal FPS protagonist, because the "superhuman" aspects of the Chief just seem to boil down to jumping high, having a HUD, regenerating health and punching hard, which is stuff that every other game does too. In many respect, Crysis captures the feeling of bieng a supersoldier better than these games ever do.

As long as the collision model is just a flat ramp it won't matter.

(It will not be a flat ramp and grenades will continue getting stuck on stairs.)
 
Frankie already hinted there'll be playlists without perks, and maybe let them explain how perks work before damning them? Worse jumping the gun than thinking that tweet meant 60 FPS

Holy shit!!!!! The music in the "Making of" video is incredible! Especially the tune that comes in at 50 seconds. PLEASE BE IN THE GAME!! Or at least indicative of the quality of the music.

One thing I liked about the series is the lack of bullshit unlocks that made the game unbalanced. Everyone used to play on an equal playing field.
 
Things I like:
-BR is back
-Quicker/more fluid in-battle
-Sound effects seem to be fantastic
-Looks like jumping is really high from what I could tell
-Sprinting is back
-I actually like perks; it sounds like they will be more gameplay-centric (not killstreak type stuff) than that of a Call of Duty game. Maybe augmented abilities? (faster sprinting, higher jumping, better reloading time).
-Big one: the multiplayer maps are designed completely separate from campaign, with competition in mind.
-More vibrant colors

What I don't like:
-Noticed jaggies, especially when the camera was showing the silvery mp map for the first time.
-The objects still look, I don't know how to describe it, kinda cold and un-life like? I know rocks aren't "alive" alive in real life, but some of the things I saw reminded me of how things in the previous games look tacked on and angular. I'll hold judgement as most of the stuff we saw wasn't in a natural setting.
-The animations look better, no doubt, but some of Master Chiefs movements still look very recycled; I was hoping for a more weighty looking jump, for example, and maybe better looking directional changes (it still looks like masterchief is doing a sort of jig strafing and then switching directions with his waste down moving a ton but his upper body not moving at all).

Still though, all in all I'm really impressed; I think this game is gonna be like halo 3 on steroids, and thats really what I was looking for.

There is definitely a risk of making the game unbalanced. But there are more games than CoD that have unlockables that affect gameplay and people love those. BF is a good example.

From the sound of it, it seemed like they were referring to new players being able to compete with those who have already unlocked the perks.
