Yeah, like I said, I know it's not great, but lets put it this way - in the situation Reggie was in, would you rather have a gun yourself or not? The intruder could easily kill him with or without a gun, especially as loony as he was, so wouldn't Reggie want a gun as well to have a fighting chance?

I don't want to turn this into a gun control debate - I know we have problems over here. Just saying that in that situation I'd wish I had a gun, that's all. Maybe I'm just a paranoid 'merican :).

And yeah, while a gun would be helpful for Reggie in this situation, I'd be terrified at the thought that the neighbour would have easier access too - it's a complex issue in my eyes.

Hopefully the locksmith witnessing it could be beneficial, along with any video that's been captured.

Yeah, I was mainly referencing his assaulting a police officer. I think it is a bit more serious then just 'shouting abuse' though - this guy has made repeated threats and shown that he doesn't intend to stop (by doing the exact same thing after being arrested).

Eh, I mostly fell in love with the characters. I loled at the human reaper scene. They kind of took that stupidity to a whole another level.

As far as I can tell, I live in a nice area in Australia - so I've never quite run into situations as bizzare as this... however the Police encounters I have had have always been fantastic. They're often very helpful, quick to respond and not afraid to throw someone into the wagon for a night.

That said, that situation was bullshit. There is no way the cop should have said to stop bothering them, that's a fucking joke. Furthermore, the fact that they nabbed him on the 2nd go around (AFTER video evidence) - and then he is back same day, is absolutely pathetic. There is absolutely no reason that motherfucker should not have been put in prison up until a court hearing or an alternative arrangement could be made. The idea that this guy could be out tomorrow, in the same area, with MORE of a grudge, and the cops are going to let it happen - is a hideous stain on what I originally considered a great enforcement service.

Do us all a favour (particularly the Australians) and keep us updated. If this guy is back tomorrow or the cops find a way to ignore you/the situation, this video needs to hit some news services. It is, plain and simple, unacceptable/nonexistent use of our police force - they may as well not show up at all.

Forget the cops. If this was Texas he could have just blown his neighbors' head off and chances are high no one would care. With the way the cops are handling this that may be his only solution. I wouldn't want to live every day in fear of some crazy asshole barging in.

By the time the Cops turn up again he has retreated inside and locked his door. He ignored the cops asking him to come out, so they knocked his door down.

Yeah. It's not clear exactly what happened to the police officer, but in terms of 'shouting abuse' it is nothing more than causing a nuisance; anti-social behaviour. It's an offence, but in terms of what that actually means to the law, probably not a major crime.

At least get a bat or something. You're way in the clear for self defense with police reports and even an arrest. As soon the door comes down, take the swing. No one should be forcing you to look for another place to live. Have you spoken to the landlord about this guy? Do they know anything?

What are you talking about, american cops wouldn't just automatically beat the shit out of the guy. We can't just call up the cops and be like "yo this guy is being a huge dick to me, come over here and beat his ass."

They'd cuff him and bring him down to the station and ask OP if he wanted to press charges for assault and get a restraining order filed. OP could complain to the management company for his apartment building and get the guy evicted. The management company would listen because they don't want to get sued for when the guy comes back and murders OP because nobody took action after he threatened OP's life, when they could have taken action. In other words, they wouldn't just let the guy get back in a situation where the second incident happened. Sometimes there are benefits from living in a litigious country.

Had a pretty crazy sunday as well.

Got a stopping ticket on an empty 4 way intersection at a local forest park at 6 pm because I didn't stop long enough from a young cop who's "trying to save the lives of the citizens".

Fuck cops.

Maybe he just told them he didn't shout and didn't bang at the door, that the OP is exaggerating and he just wanted to talk to him about something. Then it'd be his word against OP. Cops must be often called for silly neighborhood disputes.

This. A crazy bitch (backyard neighbor) called the cops on our house some time ago because our tiny dachshund barked at her cat for like 15 minutes. And we've been living here for 10+ years, she had just moved in 2 weeks before and felt her cat was entitled to the entire neighborhood for some strange reason. As soon as we showed the cop our tiny dog he went "THAT'S the dog?", sighed, and walked away. I wanted to apologize on behalf of the crazy bitch behind us for wasting that man's time.

Of course, this is in the US, but I imagine there's plenty of bogus cop calls in Australia too. Easy to say "cops are fucktards", but considering that they weren't as nice to the batshit insane neighbor when they saw the footage, and considering the woman cop took a beating for OP, I'd say they deserve some credit.
