I said I was going dark. I failed. I am weak.

HOLY SHITBALLS

I've stayed away from the plot summaries, so the overview in the trailer was the first time I've really seen what it was about. A bit more than I was hoping for, but it all makes sense now. So day one it's not even funny; this is midnight showing material.

Pretty much everything he's written. Resurrection + his TV stuff. Walmart. SMH.

I've said it before:

The only good thing Joss Whedon ever did, he didn't even get a writing credit for.

I assume because Graham Yost took all the vampires, lesbians, and space cowboys out of Speed.

Does the Whedon hate stem from his TV work? Where does Whedon = shitty work originate from? I genuinely want to know.

The only thing I have ever liked of his was Firefily. All of his other stuff I find to be shitty and made for the lowest common denominator of TV watchers.

I watched through all of Firefly and didn't find it to be horrible, but it certainly wasn't what I would classify as something that was well-written. I still remember after having watched the first eleven episodes, GAF Whedonites telling me I couldn't judge the series because I hadn't seen the twelfth episode lulz. Surprise surprise, it didn't change my opinion.

Yeah, that was a dumb list.

The real potential owners of this year will be one of the following:

Ridley Scott
Peter Jackson
Alfonso Cuaron
The Wachowski Bros
Quentin Tarantino
Steven Spielberg
Christopher Nolan
Paul Thomas Anderson
Wes Anderson

hmm

Hmm indeed.

H.R. Giger is synonymous with the Alien films as he created the look of the creatures and the film's look. The site asked Scott about his potential involvement in the film.

"I brought him in, I showed him what we were doing, showed him the story and he liked it a lot" said Scott. "So he's doing a little bit of work for me. He's been doing some murals, big murals, which we'll see in almost one of the first chambers we encounter when we land where we're gonna go."

I'd say that's one of Giger's murals.

wants to fuck an Asian grill.
I have to say I prefer the "siren" trailers for the other two Alien movies a lot better. And it seems like the technology is a lot more advanced than it should be. A flying probe that can detect lifeforms? Doesn't match at all with the down and dirty equipment the miners and marines had to use.

To be fair, though, on its own merits it's looking like the best blockbuster this year. And I'd rather take a good alien movie that isn't really faithful to the others than a bad alien movie that has hurr durr super cool references like the AvP movies.

Will the eggs turn from cylinder to egg shape? Is the alien seen in the trailer standing over the chick a different breed or is this a retcon removing the tail and making the hands more human? Will Ridley even acknowledge the Queen or anything by Cameron?

Does GAF have a "Best Movie of the Year" thread because if we do this year's will be amazing.

It would probably be my most anticipated movie if Sandra Bullock wasn't in it. It's hovering around 5th or so now.

Haha :p

I actually haven't seen a movie Bullock was in in a long time. I think the last one I saw was - er - Crash, unfortunately. Never saw The Blind Side.

Christopher Nolan hasn't even made an average movie. Every one of his has been awesome. Can't say the same for Ridley, too much fluctuation, inconsistency, etc. His highs are definitely some of my favorites from any director though.
Nolan showed a ton of promise that he could have been one of the best modern directors after directing Following and Memento, then he eventually sold out and started making blockbusters and now here we are. I want him to get back to working on smaller movies with better scripts because he is good at framing stories and I still think he could be the great director that he once had potential to be, but sadly I don't think that will happen. His recent movies are fun, but not great - and he peaked at Memento.

Dead

well not really...yet
Which one?

By miss one I mean one of them does not belong

by one of them I mean the last one on your list

edit: by last one I mean nolan

edit2: first name christopher

edit3: Speed Racer is better than all of his films bar The Prestige and Memento

Give me all your hate now

I dont think ive seen a Sandra Bullock movie since Speed

You never watched The Prince of Egypt? I thought we were bros.

he peaked at Memento.

Wrong.

Although I agree with your assessment of Nolan wasting his talent on blockbusters. His strengths lie in crafting films with subtle nuances and mystery, not big dumb movies with horribly executed action scenes and hammy dialogue.

Ah yes, the good ol' fashion "He sold out!!".

I did in High School, I didnt know she was in that :(

Id rewatch it, I remember it being great, but Id rather wait til bluRAY

You're gonna be waiting a long damn time. Dreamworks and Universal make waits so hard. Still waiting on Schindler and Munich, let alone The Prince of Egypt.

Although to be fair, the Prometheus craft seems like a science expedition, as opposed to a bunch of dirty blue collar workers towing a refinery on an old junk craft.

This and The Hobbit are the reason the world ends this year.

Prometheus and The Hobbit are also the only two movies I'm interested in watching in 3D anytime in the near future, as someone who almost never watches films in 3D. I think Gravity is also doing the 3D thing but I'll prolly watch the regular theatrical version of that one.

Really, you dudes like The Prestige more then Memento? I think Memento perfectly highlights Nolan's strengths in storytelling and shows more than any other movie that he has the potential to be a GREAT director rather than the decent-to-good director that he has been recently.

Edit: I do like The Prestige, for what it's worth.
