I would personally prefer the story to have a looser connection to Alien. The Space Jockeys are a race, not an individual being. There should be more than one ship, and more than one of their kind. Prometheus could well be a film which simply shows one group of humans making contact with one such ship and encountering a living member of that alien race, and in doing so we learn through them the nature of this alien race, their motivations in space, and the purpose of their ships.

By doing that, Prometheus can tell a complete and self contained story without being held to the timeline and details of Alien, while also giving us additional context as to why the ship on LV-426 might have been there, and why it was carrying Xenomorph eggs.

I agree with this; my comment was about whether the question would be resolved or not as to whether that ship was the same from Alien. Regardless of the answer, I don't think it will be left ambiguous.

I'd prefer your scenario as well, as it would add context and history to Alien, without tethering Prometheus to the particulars; it would fill in the history without entirely sapping Alien of its sense of mystery.

I don't think that's what we're getting, but I would like to be incorrect.

Finally saw the trailer. Unreal. Gave me goosebumps the whole time. I can't believe how similar the trailers have been to the original Aliens its striking all the right chords for me.

Any theory on what the
tentacles
thing is yet , it's in the 1min trailer but I don't see it in the 2min trailer!

That kind of showed more than it probably should have in terms on spoilers but looks great. If this is a prequel to Alien, why do they never say it? Like not even "From the director of Alien".

A couple pages late, but still - people expect that something marketed as an Alien film will boil down to the xenomorph(s) chasing people in dark corridors. That's not going to be this movie, regardless of the connections.

I love sci-fi. Alien and The Thing are two of my all time favorite movies. I don't think I've ever been as hyped to see a film as I am about this.

I hate the term "movie event", but this fits the description.

It damn right fits.

It really does feel like the 80s again and there's only one big movie coming out that all the kids are excited to see and that movie is a dark, gritty and realistic but still fantastic sci-fi film.

That is, if you're me and don't care about any other films and just want this one and fucking love gritty sci-fi.

Now for a synth score...

I said in a thread last year that I would've love to have seen a Trent Reznor/Atticus Ross score for this movie.

This new UK trailer is by far the best trailer released so far this year.
Absolutely perfect in every sense of the meaning.

Just noticed the jockey, naked, struggling on the medical table.

I think I have the same feelings others are that
the space jockey(s) are humans, transformed. I also have a feeling that when they die they become fossilized maybe, over a small period of time?

I'm there with you. A Roszner scored sci-fi movie would be beyond my worthiness.

Who is doing the score?

If the theater I go to doesn't have the sound up to the edge of comfort and "too fucking loud" I'll be leaving and demanding a refund.

This MUST be experienced properly.
