I hear you - perhaps my advice should have been 'see if there are any jobs out there that appeal'.

As for your lady - perhaps a 2K paycut isn't so bad if it's bringing her down that much. Bit of a personal opinion that one, as to which is more important to her, financial responsibilities etc etc. Personally I'd find ways to make do with 2K less and start living each day with a mood other than total misery.

true dat. Now I'm getting paid a cool 8 grand more in my new job she can afford to do that I hope. Can't wait till the money starts rolling in, it's gonna be nice not to have to worry about stuff like that for a little while. And then we can start makin babies (terror).

Either I made up lies about the Boston Bomber or I fell for someone else's crap. Either way, I have absolutely no credibility and you should never pay any attention to anything I say, no matter what the context. Perm me if I claim to be an insider
What's this I heard about a group of women clad only in their lingerie roaming the streets of London

Quite annoying searching for jobs.. when you're 18.

Applied for two bar staff jobs last week, they haven't replied so I'm safely guessing I didn't get it.
Travelodge which they haven't replied so I'm guessing again I didn't get it.
Thought why not and apply for an apprenticeship while I'm 18 (heard it was harder to get one when you're 19+)
Lowered myself to applying for McDonalds which they turned down (does this say something? lol) They had a ton of trick questions and such on the app form 'Have you ever lied to your parents?', etc.
And there's a new Pizza Hut opening round here which has three job offerings posted today, which tbh I wouldn't mind working here than McD, if I'll get it is another question.

Also these jobs asking for experience piss me off, even for the low jobs that don't even require any skills and training would only be half a day.

What apprenticeships have you applied for?

When keepin it real goes wrong. Very, very wrong.
Getting a job is easy guys. I have some tax problems though I get paid every 2 weeks and instead of half a grand I'm just getting 430. Fucking terrible situation. I never handed my p45 in when I started. Il need to go to the tax office tomorrow. To make my life worse my girlfriend is having trouble scoring weed today and we only have enough weed left for a
Joint :/. Bad times gaf

No specific one yet, I sent an application form off to College and you could pick two types, I said business admin or retail.

Oh, I thought you were talking about trades. I was offered the chance at a sparky apprenticeship about 16 years ago but turned it down. Now I've had to fork out a lot of money to study in my spare time to be a domestic sparky.

Wish I'd done it way back when.

From April your pay should be sorted as it's a new tax year.

Prowler_ a lot of warehouses and so on don't post wanted ads, phone around. Cleaning firms and such are good if you need something to work with till you get your "career" sorted.

Whoever made the comparison between the job centre and the Mos Eisley cantina made me laugh big time before.

The more I've being studying for uni exams recently, the more I can't wait to get back to it proper this September. Not for the partying or any side questing shit like that. But the real main part of it all, working my balls off for a 2:1 or 1st, and getting a well paid job which I enjoy from that. The feeling you get when you work out how to do something properly, when you feel like you understand it is great. A lot of my friends are doing that just now, getting graduate job offers from big names etc.

Hell I'd be earning well on a placement right now if it wasn't for my fucking Crohn's.

Another Crohns sufferer?! Wow. I know the feeling man, ive had to give up Uni when I was 18 and now I'm better cant even get back in. Sucks something awful.

I would high five, but well....
Yeah, hit me bad this time last year, so I've got outstanding second year exams in June, and like I said, also lost the placement because I was far too ill to do it. My department have been awesome helping me out though.
Would prefer to transfer to a university that isn't 200 miles from home though for my final year, in case it comes back. Need to get that sorted.

How come you can't get back in? Did you have a place and loose it?

I have no idea. Re-applied on UCAS with same results and everything, they haven't increased the entry requirements or anything but last year I didn't get anyway and I'm still waiting to hear for this year. Hopefully I'll get in!

I moved in with my girlfriend a year ago and being away from home when you're unwell is...difficult. Especially when you're on your own. I hope you can change where you go.

Ah thats good to here , sometimes I have been taxed up to 110 quid in the deductions part of my pay check. I should get like a grand back on the tax rebate right ? Months of the government bending me over and inserting it like I enjoy it. Messy situation all round lads.

What course/company are you using for that?

I went through a company called Trade Qualified but I think it's owned by the same group/person that owns ATL (Apprenticeship Training Limited or something). It cost me five grand and even after I won't be a fully fledged sparky but I will have the necessary qualifications to be a domestic sparky, which is what I want to do ie be a self employed one man band. I'm going to be doing work experience with a domestic sparky I know in Brighton and will then be setting up on my own here in London. There seems to be a lot of work around and the money is good.

The full fledged sparkies look down their noses at the courses but it won't affect me unless I wanted to work for another electrician company, which would defeat the point of me doing the course in the first place.

I have no idea how much you can expect to get back, I just remember emergency tax being a bitch but awesome when it got paid back.

This could be a blessing in disguise though. Tax fuckups mean tasty lump sum rebates. Free money, woooo!!

Guys, what do you think of quitting a job after two months? Not because I don't like it or anything but because I want to find a job with more hours. But how will that look on the CV?

What's important on the CV is that there is something immediately following it. Nobody's going to call you out for leaving a job to go onto something better (or if they do, then you really don't want to be working for them). What they will call you out for is if you leave that and then there's a gap.

So get that other job first. Or do some self-employed stuff or something that doesn't look like a gap.

That sounds damn good JT. My Grandad was a sparkie back in the days when electricity was hi-tec, sort of 1920s/30s ish. Like everything else these days a big smile, a competent air and a sense of relaxed efficiency (regardless of qualifications) go a long way.

Very best of luck sir. It can be a very good trade.

Well, I just watched the pilot episode of Community and loved every single minute of it. After having an incredibly crappy past couple of months it's so great to have a simple 24 minute show cheer you up :)

Dentist appointment tomorrow.

Cheers!

For D; you want to look at the woman as though you have a burning lust for carnal relations with her but you're too much of a gentleman to allow that thought to the forefront of your mind.

Failing that, go back into the 'post your pics' thread and soak in that feedback. Believe in yourself as we believe in you!

If all else fails, pull your pockets out, stick your penis through your fly and make elephant noises.

I think that look is automatic. I'd have to concentrate not to make it.

And it's actually too cold today for the elephant gambit to be a goer.

Has anyone got any leads for simple jobs in London? Where to look etc? I'd like to work in the UK till the end of august, currently live in the Netherlands. I'm in London at present.

Real men finish their dinner at dinner time.
I made enough for four people, which my father and I demolished the majority of last night. Alas, we are not Homer Simpson and could not finish it all.

Wait for Kent to come back online and he'll give you some leads.

I have, she's called Mrs Jedeye Sniv :p

But seriously (folks), I wish we could have a dish washer but there is physically no space in our kitchen for one without maybe ripping out a cupboard, but I need those. So my lady will continue to do this dishes, and all will be well with the universe.

I do the dishes in our house because, oddly, I love it. Something therapeutic about all that warm water and making things clean again.

Before I do the pots, I run the ugliest fuckers under red-hot water until they're pretty much clean anyway. Can't stand dirty washing-up water.

I get terrible OCD when washing dishes - usually fill the bowl 2-3 times. The floaty bits... eeeww!!

Ironing is The Worst of the three tasks IMO.

Bring on 5pm and after-work drinks in town I say

You've got the time. Fix it.

I fixed my washing machine.

I took it apart, poked it a bit, but it back together and it worked again. I honestly have no idea what I did.

You mistake me for a productive motivated individual. also fuck messing around with kitchen shit that's a flood waiting to happen.

Well your loss. Think off all those dishes you never have to wash!!

Really dish washing is the PITA out of all the household chores. That and cleaning the jax.

Same here. I wear rubber gloves though as I have sensitive skin.

Having your own house for a few years makes you want to keep it clean as well. It's great getting up each morning to no cleaning at all and a tidy house. My back garden though.. urgh.

I wish this would work for me, but it never does.

I've had a dishwasher sitting doing nothing for the past year because it doesn't heat the water anymore. I don't want to pull it out either, coz you know, it's another world behind your fidges and freezers under a kitchen worktop!

Washing dishes is piss easy. Just pour boiling water on everything. Shit just glides off.

I used to hate it and the way the sink would fill up with all the dirty delf. Now they are all hidden away in the dishwasher..

I wish this would work for me, but it never does.

Well I "installed" our dishwasher, the plumbing was very easy, getting the fucker into the right spot beside the other units wasn't. I realised how fucked up the kitchen installation was, loads of mistakes AND the same guys did the plumbing for the gas boiler and water, fixed the pipes on the outside skirting board so it is impossible to get any integrated stuff in right as those pipes are in the way. So it looks hideous right now and I had to dissemble the dish washer so it would fit at all.

At some stage well get it redone properly.

So you're right to fear what's under those counters. probably a hack job that will do your head in.
