Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage
Holy shit, even as a kid I never marked for anything so hard.

I did when Jericho beat HHH for the title on RAW (I believe at Penn State).

Of course, HHH "made" Earl Hebner come out and reverse the decision. It was that point when my interest started to wane.

The more I think about it the more I'm mad about the Daniel Bryan loss. This is 2 guys that always strive to have a good match, spent all week talking to press talking about how they were the dark match last year and finally the fans can see them put on a great match, and it was fucking Daniel Bryan's dream his entire life to be on Mania and have a good match. Not only did WWE piss in the face of the fans, they pissed in the face of the two guys in the match. It's even worse that apparently this had been planned for a few weeks, people tried to talk fucking Vince out of it, and HE STILL DID IT most likely just to troll people and because they can't have someone getting over as champion so they make the fans know that this guy doesn't belong.

If that's what passes as an ok show, then I'm at a total lost for how low the bar is now days.
It's terribly low. Then again, people have different interpretations of the term "OK".

It wasn't even the best wrestling show held in the state over the weekend.
And certainly didn't feature the best match.

That's pretty damning in my opinion.

If Orton was going to lose clean @ WM it should have been to Cody. Ultimately, that match should have been Orton vs Cody & Big Show vs Kane. I could have seen Kane doing all the same spots Cody did & telling Big Show to embrace hate.

To add insult to injury...

they dedicated time to the weird Foley/Santino commercial thing

they HAD COMMERCIALS

they dedicated time to that fucking horrible Brodus Clay shit

Just HORRIBLE. I thought the show was okay over all, but the fact that Bryan got completely shit on was insulting to EVERYONE. Why the fuck would you not use that finish on Show/Rhodes? It would have made sense in that match.

Don't worry guys, I was filming GAF watching Rock/Cena last night for historical archives.

Pretty much my reaction in the movie theatre lol

Urrgh, well I said before the event that there was no way this WM could be worse than last years, I think that statement just about stands if we consider this years event a bit above last years but considering how low the bar was set by WM27 i'm really not saying much positive for WM28 at all.

Dark Match for the tag team titles: this was pretty fun actually, Uso's impressed me with their Samoan drop double team moves, especially the one to the outside. Gabriel fumbled a bit but the springboard 450 was still nice to see, I don't care for the choice of winners however, hope to see more use of the Usos in the future and a tag team division in general....please?

Sheamus/Bryan: Last year I was irked that this was shunted to the dark match position and became a random ass battle royal won by neither man. This year I still didn't get the damn match because I don't want to count what happened as an actual match, people can spew reasoning as to why this was somehow a good idea to end in like 15 odd seconds but i'm not listening, i'm no major D Bryne mark but this was bloody stupid, doesn't do much for Sheamus either if you ask me. Consider how much more filler such as lame backstage segments, stupid concert crap and Brodus freaking Clay got more time than this makes me sad, off to a horrible start. Why did Kane and Chavo have to start this horrible trend of time wasting matches?!

Kane/Orton: A solid enough match, not great but not bad either, Kane getting the win with no RKO's in sight made the Kaneanite in me mark out to the nth degree, top rope chokeslam was awesome, Kane's entrance in the daylight looked wrong. Guess Orton was right when he said that his match>the world title match. Kane actually needed this win when I think about it, if this feud is built off Kane becoming a masked monster again to defeat Orton since his former self could not then it would be pretty damning for him if Orton just won again, Kane cycle averted...for now.

Rhodes/Show: This was looking to be better than Kane/Orton until it had a somewhat abrupt finish, they needed a bit more time. Still it was okay and from a feud perspective the right man won even if no one here seems to give a damn about Show, i'm just glad to see the IC title actually defended in a match at WM (and not like WM25).

HHH/Taker: Oh boy, how the hell do I describe this, as a match it's pretty stupid but as entertainment well it was pretty enthralling for the wrong reasons. After about 10 minutes these guys just went down a completely different path, a finisher fest? nah that doesn't even begin to cover this. Undertaker is invincible, how did this guy ever lose? is what I was thinking upon watching this train wreck, but you see it's one of those wrecks that was fun to watch. I really thought that the DX finisher combo had Taker done, but nope, Taker takes sledgehammers to the face, multiple finishers, chair bending shots and he's still going.
In a way this really was a perfect end to the era, a match filled with interference, screwy refs, finisher galore, weapon spam, lots of yelling and ever changing allegiances, pure attitude era shoved into a single match. I wager this match will absolutely not hold up at all well on a rewatch but for the first time through and making me actually believe yet again that the streak might have been over it just about edges a pass from me.
As an aside, Taker's supernatural lightning powers make more sense than his kick outs in this match.

Tag Team Match: pretty boring until the end when Ryder suddenly started surprisingly kicking ass and then the Eve focused finish to remove the wind from the sails, at least the team I wanted to win won.

Punk/Jericho: The extra stipulation really had no business being there, did WWE not learn from HHH/Orton? fortunately after the slow start and the Jericho title match at WM curse of having a moderately dead crowd they managed to get something going, the final few minutes were great, match of the night though it could have been better.

*insert bitching about Brodus Clay timewaster, adverts, promos, and all the other time wasting dreck*

A special note for the live performances: Please stop, please, no joke when I say these little musical performances killed my enthusiasm for Rock/Cena, what hype I had was sucked away by 15(?) minutes of unwanted wailing, Cena didn't even make up for it with a bombastic and silly entrance. If these performances were actually done as the entrances to waste less time I might have been more accepting but nope, they were before the actual entrances. Kid Rock at WM25 has been dethroned, congratulations to that berk who claimed Cena was an underdog, he is now top of my WM musical shit list.

Rock/Cena: A year long build for a just about okay match, I enjoyed dejected Cena after his loss but at this point I barely cared, I'm intrigued to see where Cena heads with his loss on Raw (no smiling Cena!) but all things considered this match was a let down and i'm not entirely sure why, something was missing.

So yeah, a disappointing event, just about better than last years but that's not saying much.

So is the general consensus that it was a ok Wrestlemania but that Daniel Bryan burial really tainted the show?

The fact that a squash match happened for the WHC makes this Wrestlemania a crap one.

I'll tell you what, let me try blocking that match from my memory.

......

Nope, still crap. Not even based Rocky could save this bullshit.

This goes to show you what kind of a bastard Vince McMahon is. I hope the WWE network fails and shames him into retirement and he is never seen nor heard from again.

Not that Stephanie or Mr. H's are any better.

The whole thing was bad.

More than bad, it was pretty insulting. The shameless advertising, the musical numbers, the time wasted on sheer nonsense like having a D-list celebrity like Maria Menunous "wrestle" a match.

I can understand a little fluff in Wrestlemania. But seeing the wrestlers shill for some fishing show? Or mama and the fat-ass dancers?

After having some time to think about it, I think the Daniel Bryan squash really killed the card for me till the Hell In A Cell. That match was everything I expected it to be. It got me back into the show and I was having a good time. Then they did the tag match. I couldn't really enjoy much of this match till the finish because there were too many people on the ropes. My view was blocked by The Great Khali the most of the time. F U Teddy Long for putting him on your team. Punk/Jericho was great, but could have been better. The final sequence was the real highlight of the match. I marked out when Punk moved up on the vice so Jericho couldn't kick him. Rock/Cena was still a great match for me and I loved the finish. The musical entrances did kind of take away from the spectacle of it a bit, but once the match got going it didn't matter. I'm curious as to how the crowd came across on tv because it sounded to me like a clusterfuck of chants that never got really synced.

Overall, the show was leagues better than last year's. I'm not getting all the hate some of you guys have for this show though....some people need to step away from wrestling for a while it seems.

The show was just fine I don't know what people were expecting. Granted the first match was bullshit but everything else, don't really have a problem with it.

I was expecting it to be bad and it lived up to those expectations, only 2 good matches aren't just fine for Wrestlemania.

Aww. Poor kid. But I admit I laughed when Dad said, "The Rock! Bwahahaha!"

Dang, kids really like Cena. I don't get it. When I was that kid's age, I hated Hogan.

I always cheered the heels when I was a kid too.

Except Jushin Thunder Liger, he was probably the only face I ever was a fan of.

Maybe that's why I turned out the arrogant shit I am today.

The thing is the match had the makings of being a Savage/Steamboat for this generation -- but apparently only Vince McMahon knows what creates 'entertainment' and we don't. I don't even care if Bryan would have lost the match....if I ordered the PPV and I saw that 'match,' I would be steamed.

EDIT: Not only that, but that match from what I saw killed the crowd too, which is a big 'no no.'

Where was the wrestling? That was my problem. As someone who is totally removed from the shows, I thought the ppvs were to showcase the actual wrestling.

Granted, I know what to expect from terrible in-ring workers like Big Show, Kane, Orton, Cena and the like. But I had no idea what any of those guys in the tag match were capable of and its not like a match with that many bodies is going to show me.

Other than Punk/Jericho - which was good, not great - there was nothing for me wrestling wise. Trips/Taker was entertaining for what they wanted to achieve, but it was not a competitive wrestling match. Anyone could do that inside of the cell.

Nah, they aren't. Its entertainment, like watching a physical play take place. Thats the appeal for most wrestlemanias.. Certain wrestlers are known for their core wrestling ability and stunts.

Well, at least he's the first person to win in, what, 5 years?

My little brother doesn't, but he doesn't hate him, he just doesn't care. He's a huge CM Punk and Daniel Bryan fan, but that's probably because he started watching WWE last year.

And just like last year, he didn't really like Mania this year either. He actually left the room after the Bryan squash until the HIAC. At least Punk and Jericho got a full match. If they didn't, I'm sure he'd stop watching WWE.

WWE ain't Wrasslin' brah. It's SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT.

Is the Irish guy really mobile in the ring? He's so damn big that its hard to imagine he can do much more than power moves.

Sheamus and Bryan worked dark matches, and apparently, they were quite incredible. So when Bryan won the WHC, and Sheamus won RR, it made sense to give these guys time to work.

Plus, Bryan deserved his match. A main title shouldn't be put on display like that. For one, it devalues the meaning of a title that has already lost a lot of credibility that Bryan was trying to restore, and it robs the fans of a match that a lot wanted to see.

I fucking hate when Vince trolls like this.

Then, go watch ROH if you want nothing but two guys who want to compete. Mania had 2 really good matches and 1 classic, and you're complaining there was no wrestling?

2 hours of wrestling bell to bell.

Pretty decent if you ask me.

Considering one of the matches lasted 18 seconds. FUCK YOU VINCE!

Punk vs. Bryan on a random Smackdown was better than any match at Wrestlemania last night.

Don't let the smarks trick you, it was a good WM. Can any one name a WM that was perfect? WM 17 is the closest one and even that show had its flaws. The fluff at this WM was no where near as bad as last years. Iike I said before the first hour was bad, the Bryan job was big slap in the face. But everyone is being real nitpicky about the last three hours. The dq stipulation was stupid but they quickly dropped it once they noticed the crowd was dying. But that shows how great they really are, amazing 10 mins.
