I'll be busy unpacking from this move, trying to get life re-organized before pre-E3 happenings begin. Gotta get the gaming room going, and there's Jazzfest coming up, and then a few weeks of overtime (so that my co-workers can return the favor later on in the year), etc.

And even though it's months away, I also have to begin weighing my options for preorders and Launch Day. There are two GameStops nearby. One is a ten minute walk away from my townhome, but it's getting close to a sketchy neighborhood.

The other one? It's in a really posh, nice area.. but it's in a mall, which poses its own issues: there are multiple entrances to this mall, which means that if I camp-out for a preorder at the wrong mall entrance and the other entrance is opened before the one I choose, I'm boned.

I'll have to go and just ask the shop owners. I also need to verify that they're going to be doing a midnight launch.

Easy to solve. Put a cardboard cutout at the other entrance, and tether it's arm to a string. Then pull it at random times and yell "Chooo Chooo". Noone will ever know.

out of curiosity... isn't it easier to buy the console at Walt-Mart, Sam's Club or stores like those?

I like! And I think Walgreens does cardboard cutouts of photos.. hmm..

I've heard that some Wal-Marts can be like a totally unorganized zoo.. and I can totally see my Wal-Mart being like that. That, and Iike having a preorder over and done in advance so that I can relax for those final few weeks..

I don't even know why I typed Walt lol
I see, all the markets are different I think. Here, sometimes, buying consoles and games is way more easier, faster and ever cheaper than doing it in a specialized videogame store, preorders included. It's very rare when they run out of stock so you can pick one any day, anytime but I uderstand the unorganized zoo remark lol

But then it wouldn't be a Pre-E3 conference surprise.

But how big the surprise is will be subjective so some might think it's neat, others may think it's more than just neat. Either way I want to get "clearance" before I do it.

Are we talking like Wii U pre-E3 news surprise ie game reveal or along those lines. Or something like a cool NeoGAF thread type of surprise maybe with details on game lineup for E3?

If I get permission I may not be able to do it till after E3, but giving any hints would ruin it. I'm "anti-Ideaman". :p

In only 11 days...
I think a 6th Speculation Thread is not that far fetched at all :p
at the end.. we're only 1 month and two weeks away from E3
If the investors meeting this week is as interesting as we're hoping, we're going to see this thread move even more quickly. And we're going to see lots more people coming in, from one end of the gaming-political spectrum (Nintendo fanmen) to the other end of the gaming-political spectrum (hater trollchildren).

I still think the information will be pretty minimal. Nintendo Network should get some more attention, assertion that the system is on schedule and a repeat of things that we gamers know but that investors might not. If we're lucky, two particular questions will be asked by the press:

A) Does Nintendo plan to be profitable from the on the hardware, the system in general including software and accessories, or neither?
B) Will the system be presented as substantially more powerful than other existing consoles?

I'll welcome them all. Just remember, I'm constable No-Fun.

By coincidence of today's events, my wife is Hispanic and earlier today I showed her the YouTube clip of the MST3K guys making fun of Spanish kids shows (per the gif above) and she said "Yep, that's pretty much what they're like...." lol

What the hell is happening in here? Trying to figure out the last few pages is a huge puzzle.

We discovered there's a Spanish gaming forum very similar to GAF called "Vandal" and they've been using info and photoshops from our thread and Cabbie and HylianTom made friends with 'em. It's like a friendly bizarro world.

Say, Tom, what happens if information you were given by possible leakers isn't actually covered by Nintendo at E3? Like if N doesn't reveal the CPU frequency but one or two of your confidants did?

Seriously guys, bg's been on this for quite some time. Just let it be naturally.

Edit: OK, one second, the last thing in this thread was BG's post on when he can spoil a bit about things post E3 and now we're on a whole different page... My mind is fucked in ways I didn't think possible following this thread. :lol

Vandal? I used to go there before i knew about GAF, and also have some friends from there. Psyco3ler, who made the famous "Nintendo On" and the "Mario Universe" fakes used to post there also.
It's not that bad and they are generally nice people.

In the end, GAF is the best place to get the latest videogame news, so it's easy that people on other forums look here..

I like how the discovery of this site is apparently bringing a bunch of seldom (or never) posters who happen to speak Spanish or have a history at that site.

More blood for our sacrifices to the Great Hiroshi!

Tom, why don't you just go amazon?
'Cause I don't like the uncertainty of UPS delivery, especially when I'm spending vacation hours at work for that week. If Amazon was 100% reliable with their "same day delivery," I'd consider it, but they've been very sketchy with me on the times that I've used thus service. (and I say this as someone who loves and adores Amazon. My only credit card is the Amazon card, I've had Prime for years, etc)

Best case scenario? UPS drops it on my door in early afternoon.. that's 12+ hours of vacation week that I could've spent with my new system. So I go for the surer thing: midnight launch at a brick-and-mortar store, which has me playing by 1AM. Pretty sweet! :)

Aaaaand speaking of things related to madness and obsession, since we'll probably never see it on VC, Wii U or on a DS compilation, I just bought a mint Earthbound catridge off eBay with player's guide (new scratch and sniff stickers included). Hoo boy...

In that case, I'll reveal it to y'all, but I won't be revealing who the source is.

The original intent of my exercise was for me to find-out who's legit. That way, for future events, I know whom to trust. Meanwhile, by keeping these folks' trust, they in turn will have me as a safe outlet for disseminating information. An oath on Jake, as you've said in the past, is as serious as a Nintendo NDA. My hero Miyamoto could be here in my bedroom right now, begging me to open my email, and I will not budge.

The risk is this: I could have joke emails from joke characters. In which case, I end-up with egg on my face. But I figure that it would be worth the risk, considering what a "good" outcome would look like.

I remember when I bought my Wii... I literally spent the whole night reading both manuals and testing out for first time Wii Sports.

It was jaw dropping after jaw dropping with motion controls. At the end I was like...

Haha! That's one other thing I like about a midnight launch: it feels like more of a triumph. Walking out of the store, prizes in my arms, eyeing the other customers and jealous johnny-come-too-latelies, hopping into the car, blasting some Zelda music while speeding home, waving at strangers who are still on the road at that hour - it's adding-up to be a memorable experience.

In contrast: having a UPS guy knock on the door at 632pm to be handed a pakage seems kinda, I don't know.. anticlimactic, perhaps? After over a year of waiting, that's not how I want the long, painful wait to end.

What? I've been following GAF for 4 or 5 years but i didn't register since last year. And i think that after 3 months with the account activated, I've already posted a decent number of post. At least, what my life has let me. You know, some of us has girlfriends, jobs, friends which are above GAF in my list of priorities.

Sorry for not being a true and pure GAF member like you man...

BTW, I'm Catalan, so Spanish is my second native language.
