WTF? What universe of nerd-dom do you live in? Obviously not the same as us!
Going to the Steampunk World's Fair, which is an offshoot of the February "Wicked Faire", which is a sort of merging of kink and geeky lifestyles. SWF is a bit more focused, but the nightlife is generally quite good. They won't have a giant room with machines that suspend you as girls in incredibly forgivingly small outfits whip you as the other event has (2011's Wicked Faire had a "Fairy Tales Gone Awry" theme, and there were about twenty girls who dressed up as "Little Red Riding Hood, grown up, with a weapon"; somehow, there was only one fellow in a wolf costume -- he got strung up there for quite some time and probably enjoyed every moment), but the lewdity is often very high.
The weekend after that is Playa del Fuego, a local edition of Burning Man. This is a gathering of people who are often technically inclined and highly creative. They like to build interesting things. If you've ever been to the "Maker Faire", it's sort of like that but with occasional nudity, crazy dance parties and tons of freely-flowing booze for five nights at a campsite probably not properly bit enough for the twelve hundred people there. The twist? Everybody there is awesome, event the furries.
Even the bronies. Actually, especially those two groups, because they gave us espresso and similar beverages throughout the day and alcoholic espresso and similar beverages throughout the night. Also, there was a giant trampoline.
edit: But this has nothing to do with the Wii U.
Shal: Also, IBM just slashed some chips in their POWER7 line, which may or may not be good for Nintendo's bottom line in a direct or indirect way, and somebody mentioned that LucasArts has a Wii U MMO listed for the E3 show floor (I could not verify that because the show floor flash applet isn't loading properly for me, and I
think we might have heard of this before anyway).
