We found our alternate reality selves, and they speak fluent spanish. That is all you need to know

LOL... I'm hoping GameplayWhore has one of those concise summaries of the last 50 pages handy, because it would take me forever to catch up and I would probably get frustrated reading it lol

If anyone who has a webcam wants to film their reactions to the conference live (using YouTube or similar) I will happily cut together a GAF reel of reactions. I imagine most of you will be too shy though... or chicken...

C'mon GAF, nobody calls you chicken!

Has Metroid Prime 4 leaked yet?

Reading through the Nintendo E3 06 conference thread is giving me massive nostalgia over here. :lol

Anyone have a link to the followup conference thread with the Brawl trailer?

i think brawl was my favorite release for any game ever, how sakurai did that website with one update per day, and we all stayed up like half the damn night to see what it was. awesome times lol

I remember when I bought my Wii... I literally spent the whole night reading both manuals and testing out for first time Wii Sports.

It was jaw dropping after jaw dropping with motion controls. At the end I was like...

"Wii...

I think there are two experiences that Wii owners will never forget:

1) Creating their first Mii

2) Playing Wii Sports for the first time

I must have spent an hour or so just playing around with creating different Miis lol.

I initially read this as "[the conference thread] is giving me a massive nostalgia" -- and I actually kind of like the idea of using the word nostalgia as a (bizarre and non-sensical) euphemism for erection.

Looking at that Smash Bros thread, I gotta say that Sakurai really pushed as much (graphics wise) as he possibly could out of the Wii, and even Kid Icarus is a damn beautiful game for the 3ds. Can't wait to see what the Wii U smash looks like.

Oh man.. I get a raging nostalgia whenever I see Miyamoto with that sword and shield. You could chip a tooth on this nostalgia!

This is the one where he comes out and plays to the Wii Music orchestra? A kind of lame and stilted introduction in my opinion. The best part of the that show was the demo of TP and the trailer for Mario Galaxy. After that it was so-so. The finale was a big tennis match in Wii Sports. Nothing spectacular.

No way, streaming the Nintendo E3 '06 Conference was the best thing I ever used an extended lunch break for. It was nonstop win, exciting and fun all around.

are we talking about Metroid or Zelda in this cycle of non-news?

this week is going to move so so cannot wait until Friday

I hope we get an official day and time for Nintendo's E3 by Friday

I remember Matt Cassamisina at IGN updating an E3 2006 predictions story where he had predicted something like 'No playable 3D mario' and intimated that he was wrong - the night before the press conference. Excite get!

I believe the presentation should be posted on Thursday even, with a little luck. The exact official time I don't know, but Bloomberg Businessweek has it listed as following:

Nintendo Co. Ltd. to Report Fiscal Year 2012 on Apr 26, 2012
CapIQ 04/26/2012 4:00 AM ET

Source: http://investing.businessweek.com/research/stocks/earnings/earnings.asp?ticker=NTDOY:US

This converts to 05:00 PM JST on the 26th of April. The earnings release should anyway be readily available.

And thus the end-saga of Negative Matt commenced.

If the Wii U can manage to service every type of gamer* without a tremendous lapse in any important genre, then we will get a shift back to a much more forgiving "gamer press". I think that a lot of Nerdtendos** around here will be really happy to be able to listen to actually excited weekly podcasts about Nintendo systems again.

* Reminder: Game genres are more than just "casual" and "hardcore". I think many people have forgotten that.

** I like making up names that are stupider than "Nintendork" and "N-thing"

The presentation should start at 9PM EDT on Thursday evening. Not sure what time it'll be posted in English, though.

I ain't staying up for that. I will wake up to eighty new pages of "HOLY SHIT NINTENDO POSTED LOSSES FOR YEAR, UNIVERSE DOOMED!!!!!" and "Oh wow, digging that new 'Mario Everywhere' feature that fuses Nintendo Network with AR."

…somebody else will have to make a "#xxxxx: Something happens" series while I am away in dreamland.

edit: So, Gamling-GAF, what's the over/under on this thread actually hitting 20k in the wake of the investor conference?

See? This is where my skepticism begins. We'll get the rare full effort, but beyond that I'm not expecting great things. :(

I think it all depends on how the platform does in Japan. If the weaker Wii U dominates and the PS4 is not that far ahead of it graphically, then most Japanese developers opt for the power level that is relevant in their country and set the bar low. Or as you put it, adopt sustainable business practices.

2010 was the best E3 in recent memory, in terms of Nintendo's showing. We knew Skyward Sword would be shown, so that was exciting (even if the actual game was not so much). But what really pegged my meter days before the show was the leak that Retro Studios was making a Donkey Kong title. That said DK title turned out to be a Country revival utterly blew my mind as the conference went down. Epic Yarn was another swell reveal, but it was all out-done by the 3DS, starting with the amazing revelation Kid Icarus was coming back, under the guiding hand of Sakurai himself. And this was followed by a rat-a-tat-tat string of reveals that had me in hype mode for months: Ocarina of Time 3D, Resident Evil Revelations, MGS3D: Snake Eater, Pilotwings Resort, Star Fox 64 3D, etc. Simply amazing.

This year's E3 looks equally promising where Nintendo is concerned. Nintendo has confirmed that PIKMIN 3 and New Super Mario Bros. WiiU will be at the show. That's at least two WiiU titles right there, and I'm sure there will be more. Will Retro Studios' new game be shown? What about NST? Good Feel? Monster Games? Silicon Knights? The other EAD groups? So much to see, and then there's 3DS, which will surely have new news on Animal Crossing, Paper Mario, Luigi's Mansion, NSMB2 and more. The most exciting prospect is possibly seeing some franchises revived, much like Kid Icarus, DKC and Pilotwings were at E3 2010. We know Pikmin is coming back, and if that were it, that would still be enough to make my day as a gamer. But it's fun to think that maybe, just maybe, we'll see some other franchises come back as well. Wave Race? F-Zero?

Little more than six weeks now. This is the point at which the journey is most fun.

True. I think Japan is Nintendo's true third-party wquestion mark for this upcoming generation, as I think western developers have their minds largely made-up. The best case scenario would have Nintendo getting much more support from developers at home.

So much excitement in that brawl reveal thread. Man, I loved brawl. It may not have lived up to its potential, but it was still one of the best games I got into this gen.

Tournament training for 1-2 years probably fueled a bit of my enthusiasm though :p
