-- You must be joking. Anyways, not really a competition as I don't see anything particularly super interesting about Guild Wars 2 either.

-- These days it is never is worth it to buy in to an MMO early - if I get the bug to check it out I'll wait for the inevitable invite-a-friend, free weekend, free limited accounts, or whatever other incentives they offer. That should start the month after the game comes out.

It's not *early* as the game is a year old already. Your free weekend was last weekend actually. As for me, I bought the korean version and played it for a bit and settled on it then which made the wait really really freaking hard. As the kotaku article and gabe pretty much both say, just playing the game feels GOOD.

And I'm not joking about what I said. Explain to me how the two games are the same. Because if it comes down to *you press buttons for skills lol* then -.-

I played WoW when it first came out as well, had a blast back then. Played EQ1 back when it first came out, the whole OMG DONT BUY AN MMO EARLY OR YOU GET SCREWED only really goes for shitty games.

Played GW2 and was not impressed with the graphics in comparison to TERA, and the tab combat completely killed it for it.

I honestly cannot see how anyone could go back to the traditional MMO combat after this game, and I have played every major MMO release of the past 15+ years.

The three people I played with all disliked the game, everyone did like the combat (only I felt a little let, down by the combat, since I nearly expected the game to be monster hunter quality based on the wacky hype), the art and the flow of it all but the bitching over the quests and awkwardness and ease never stopped. All genre veterans with no patience for the bad tropes of the genre any more. The combat wasn't near enough to compensate for the rest, especially with it being so rooted and hotkey based regardless.

I wasn't impressed either, not entirely, but I am a lot more willing to keep poking at it, although ultimately it felt like a rather normal Korean MMO with nice hybrid combat, but nothing to really use that combat on until deeper in the game or for crazy binge end game power gamers, of which I am no longer, never again.

I still want to get it though, because I feel like I'm going to miss something, so I'm kind of in a loop at the moment, especially when there's so much software and competition upcoming.

I'd probably not second guess it if it had a good box only model or a f2p model, and i could just tinker when i felt like it without feeling obligated but after so many years of defending it back in the infancy Im largely done with subscription based games unless it's something monumental.

It's more time than money, but with Tera clinging to the old tropes and on a subscription model, time factors into the money, as well.

If you all can play Diablo 3 for hours upon hours, more power to you. I love Diablo, but it gets super repetitive super quick. When I'm bored of Tera, I'll hop on Diablo. When I'm bored of Diablo, I'll hop on Tera.

I couldn't even dream of playing two online RPGs at once, regardless of sub-genres, but especially not when one is a traditional MMO in structure, meaning angry nerdling schedules, which are my MMO kryptonite nowadays and why I'm looking longingly towards GW2 at the moment. Any and everything that rams a spear in the standard end game functionality has my applause.

I'm unsure if I'm going to get diablo straight away, anyhow, though. I like the directions Blizzard chose for it but their actual design has me a little wary in recent years.

So I preordered on Amazon as I had a gift card, and my account on the Tera site is still showing as "Trial" even after having input my code. I'm slightly worried, but maybe I shouldn't be?

Tera doesn't have raids, though. Just "heroics". That's why I'm looking forward to it. Plus PVP battlegrounds that are jump in jump out. My schedule is so chaotic I can't handle another WoW.

This is why I'm playing TERA, too. I can afford the time to level and gear up a few hours a week versus the time eater that other MMO's are (in order to gear and enjoy the content).

Oh, forgot to say, Lineage 2 was my first MMO. Tera is not like Lineage 2, except that it's very pretty. Probably the prettiest MMO out there, just like L2 when it came out (imo).

Loved L2 back then. Loving Tera now.

I just placed an order on their site and I haven't received any emails.

Has this happened to anyone else..? I'm starting to get worried.

Ohh, someone told me the opposite. Is the Pvp very gear centric? Its not a breaker, just curious

Hmm I can't see the link...

I get this error: "In order to log into the forums, you'll need to create your public identity -- a nickname that others can see -- below."

It just takes me to my account page, and I can't do anything there.

What does it say ?

EDIT: Ah got it, thanks... Weird, it's supposed to start at 8:00 PM PST

I love raiding so im gonna be sad if tehre's nothing at 60

You can run 11 5-man dungeons at endgame (some are hard modes) and participate in the Rifts. Battlegrounds are coming later in the summer, and massive scale Server vs. Server PvP later this year. I don't think you'll be lacking in things to do at endgame, this game is no SWTOR.

If anything, the PVE in this game seems to be very much like GW2 in terms of content.

In regards to your PVP gear question, I would assume gear helps, but this game is more "skill based". I know I was smoking people 6 levels higher than me in the beta.

That award easily goes to Blade&Soul.

Who has the rights to it?

I don't think anyone has the rights to publish for NA/EU yet or if it's even been thought about since the game is only in it's 3rd beta test in KR but I'd assume NCsoft will be bringing it over at some stage since they're the publishers for KR.

I swear I've looked at the payment page like 3 times and then closed it. Dem 1 world decisions.

By the way me saying 2018 is a joke, I'm saying it's taking forever. I remember seeing trailers for it back in 2008 and it looked like it was in a playable state then. Although apparently it's releasing early this year in KR. I remember they said they were planning to release it on 360&PS3 but they said that about GW2 as well so I'll assume they've long scrapped those ideas. Maybe it's the art style of Blade & Soul I really like but I think it shits all over tera but that's not to say Tera isn't pretty.
