Awesome.

Very tempted to rebuild those. Shouldn't be too difficult, what do you guys think?

I think it's doable, and he says so on his Flickr comments. But he also says the models are 2-300 pieces, and some use illegal connections, so there might be some complexity hiding under there

Vied for a tag related to cocks, so here it is.
They'll either be available at TRU or Target in the coming months.

Hulk won't ever be in one of these since he's so big. These are just little impulse sets.

TRU In the UK? I'll have to find out, or just take a peek at Amazon. I remember seeing some Star Wars polybags on there I think (though I can't find them/remember the codes now).

What would you say is an illegal connection? Any examples?

Thinking of getting a set that would be nice to display. I like the modulars but I'm kind of turned off on buying them since certain ones are out of print and I'm sort of a completionist. Not into the Star Wars stuff at all.

How are the PotC ships? Not huge on the movies but the two big ships seem like they would be nice to display and they are a bit cheaper than the modulars. Plus I always wanted that pirate ship set when I was a kid but never got it because of price.

Give into the modular bug. Sure, some are out of print, but the ones out there are damn sexy on display. And if you ever do decide to get into them later for some reason, it just makes the back catalog that much harder to get.

And since you don't like Star Wars stuff, I would say go for Tower Bridge. It is a fun build, and a huge, imposing model on display. It is expensive, but crazy cheap when you consider the price per brick.

Hmmm. If I were just wanting a display, I would put a lot of thought into it. For instance, if I were to use a single bookshelf as my base for a display, I would get measurements, figure out a theme, and basically build a diorama out of Legos that took up that space. Pick a franchise/theme you enjoy and go to town. I would make sure that everything was to scale, the same theme, and is something that people would want to look at. The Star Wars ships can look all out of scale when put side by side. You could do alot with the city sets if you keep it small and thematic if that is more your style. It really depends on the space and budget.

I have the batcave, a batmobile, a couple of batcycles, a batwing, and 2 bat seadoos. I am contemplating building an entire batcave that uses all of these sets together and uses up a single bookshelf. Extra parts would be needed to flesh it out and make it cohesive, but the end result could be pretty cool. I could even do a second shelf with all the villans and the funhouse escape.

The pirate ships are great. 200$ and you have 2 ships to set up a cool diaroma.

There are only a couple out of print modulars, and you can get the bricks later on if you fancy it. There are plenty to be getting on with. I you like them, grab the fire brigade.

I only have the Queen Anne's Revenge PotC ship but it's a beauty. My only criticism would be the use of large hull parts which isn't very 'Lego' to me. But it's a large and lovely set.

Tower bridge is a great display model, as is the VW Camper, and the Space Shuttle. Those three would be my pick of the best current non-star wars sets

Anyone ever sold sets through bricklink? I have a couple of large technics sets which I put on eurobricks but they aren't moving. I've never sold on eBay and I'm a bit wary, so was thinking of trying bricklink but wondered if anyone had any impressions of selling (I've bought plenty)

Yeah I kind of have this idea of putting them on these two stands on either side of my tv. So I think I'm gonna go ahead and get them. I'll probably end up getting the modulars once I decide a good place for those too...

Queen Ann's revenge is my favorite set so far. I was very unsure at first but now that I have it together and sitting on top of my bookshelf I couldn't be happier. So much so that I expect I'll be picking up The Black Pearl later this month to sit on the opposite bookshelf. You can't go wrong with either of those ships IMHO.

I did my first VIP orders on March 12th. I got my points for the two sets I ordered. I have VIP points saved up.

I only just received my physical VIP card. Damn, that took a while. Wish I had a Lego store here in CT.

And crossing my fingers they call me back for an in person interview after that impromptu phone interview last week.

people build with Legos sometimes until they die and make really amazing works of art. if it makes you happy, do it?

How old is to old to play with Lego ? I am 20 since reading this thread I am thinking of buying some Lego

You are too old when you are dead.

I just recently got back into it, and I am turning 33 this year. I am probably in the middle of ages in this thread.

You're probably one of the younger ones in this thread...

I'm 28

Or maybe slightly higher...

Honestly, Lego is more fun for me now than as a kid. Mainly because I can get all the really crazy stuff I wanted as a kid, and I have a better understanding of how to make things so I can make better looking creations.

If I ever get a copy, my mother has a photo of me as a kid with a big space city I built as a kid, complete with monorail (I think the monorail was in the pic). If I get a copy, I will post it.

I stole this from Reddit. Beautiful.

I absolutely LOVE the Hoth one

And for those of you worried that the Shaun of the Dead Winchester CUUSOO might not get approved...

...Behold this gorgeous mini-modular MOC I found looking through the Toy n' Bricks forum!
7018678451_b0794acb0b.jpg

The builder was even kind enough to include the LDD file in their post!
http://toysnbricks.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=5233&start=40

It fits with the mini-modulars, but it does cheat a bit because the base is actually 8x9. Blashphemy, I know, but at 208 bricks and included instructions I think I can forgive them. :D
EDIT: Hmm, looking at the LDD file it appears that the "roof" in the angled section is a single loose piece. Not sure how I feel about that, but I'm still quite impressed with it.
EDIT 2: Looking even closer I think I can even see a few areas it could be improved! Man, I have got to put this together for myself!

Picked up the other two ultimate build sets to go with Mater - McQueen's top half is connected in a very interesting way and Francesco is kind of plain on his own but would be the easiest to convert into a regular car.

My daughter loves them all, although McQueen is by far the most solid of the three and Mater is her favourite to play with due to the tow hook.

The downside is that putting these together has gotten me back into Lego, and looking through all of the sets on the market right now has given me a ton of ideas.

And unfortunately (for my wallet), Toys R Us has the Millennium Falcon on sale this week ($155, down from its $180MSRP in Canada), which is the one Star Wars set I'd actually want.

How big is it, though? I checked the box in store earlier but it didn't give any dimensions and I don't have a ton of room in my apartment. I'd guess maybe a foot in circumference but I'm not really sure.

You're lucky the smile on your McQueen wasn't printed crooked on the bricks like mine was! The good news though is that the replacement bricks they sent me arrived on Monday and the new bricks are perfect =D

Damn, that looks great! Any plans to expand back into the buildings?

Thanks! As far as expanding, not really. It's already pretty huge and I don't have a place to really display it as it stands right now. I originally was going to go bigger but I wanted to kind of keep that sense of a playset with it instead of going for more realism. Though, now that you bring up expanding the buildings, my mind is running with the possibilities. I did want to add a lighthouse and broken down dock at one point so who knows. Like I said, it's huge right now and my cats would have a field day with it if they could get to it, so displaying it is a no go until I figure something else out.

Ya, it looks fun to play with. Too bad you don't have space to keep it displayed.

Oh this is really helpful, thanks! Been finding out the hard way what connections work between the extra System and Bionicle pieces I have.

yeah, its worth knowing that you shouldn't use technic bricks with pegs as an alternative for headlight bricks.

I'm 20 also, this thread taught me it doesn't matter how old you are because LEGO will always be fucking awesome.

Good to see the rumor was true. Not much I don't have on that list though - might take the plunge on the Republic Frigate.

amazon has all of the avengers and x-men sets back in stock

LEGO Wolverine Chopper Showdown 6866, wolverine, magneto and deadpool minifigs in this set. Really a steal for $20.
