It seems Nintendo is telling us to finish our backlogs of eShop/3DS/Ambassador games first before they feed us more.

Spirit Tracks is really good and a ton of fun. I've put in almost 30 hours and I'm still not finished. I'm just running around doing side missions and opening up new tracks. Great game and the flute has never really been a problem for me and neither has all the traveling.

One positive note is that Club Nintendo is giving away Snowpack Park (WiiWare) right now for 150 coins. Definitely worth it. It's kind of cute and weird and random and aimless. I think if you like Penguins and/or Minigames and/or Animal Crossing you'll like it.

This might be the best giveaway since the first one. 2 of the games are absolute classics and I submit that 3D Urban Champion is way more fun then it has any right to be.

last part totally makes you trustworthy...

I do love Pictobits!

random anecdote time, my cousins had an NES with like a Famicom cartridge of Urban Champion that plugged to an adapter. Never got it to work sadly, but I remember the sticker so vivedly, such a misterious game that escaped my grasps.

Anyone get Bird Mania 3d yet? I'm thinking about getting it as a time waster. Maybe I'll base my decision to purchase it based on what gaf thinks!

Well, it's certainly not worth any more than they're charging, but if you like autorunners you might like it. You steer with the touchscreen, circle pad, Up/Down or X/B. You have way more precision and control with the touchscreen though. You can hold down L or R to dash. The goal is to get as far as you can while racking up points. Collecting stars or balloons gives you points, dashing through enemy birds gives you a score multiplier, and dashing into a wasp will reset your multiplier to 0. Flying into birds or wasps while not dashing, or flying into anything else is game over (you can pass in front of tree trunks but not the leaves.) There's also weather but I haven't seen any yet, probably because I haven't gotten far enough.

There's only one song so far as I can tell, but it's not bad (the song in the trailer.) Levels are randomly generated and it changes fairly often between day and night. The scenery graphics are nice, the 3d is neither bad nor anything to write home about. I think the bird you play as is pretty cute, the enemies are passable, if a little similar to the Angry Birds style. I've only seen one scenery style with the only variation being day/night, so I don't know if the scenery changes after a certain distance or not (I'm guessing not.)

I could see myself playing this from time to time in short bursts (as I would any autorunner) and going for the achievements. It keeps a leaderboard but it's not online, just for your system.

It's priced right (for eShop anyway, I don't have any iOS/Android devices so I have no basis for comparison there,) and you can probably tell if you're going to like it by watching the trailer, because what you see is what you get.

Downloaded Amoebattle for DSiWare and gotta say its kidna cool. Love the sprite work in it, and the colour choice is quite good. Controls seem pretty awesome soo far. Only thing I'm not liking is the music quality, seems pretty crappy when I have my Bose headphones on. Only played the first level which is just basic tutorial stuff but soo far seems pretty good glad to finally have a decent RTS on on DSiWare.

Yes! Yes, it is! Thank you for that.

I remember saying that in a previous thread and no one agreed with me. I was flabbergasted.

It's horrible.

Balloon Fight is one of my favourite NES games, but this is not a worthy follow up. It's boring until it gets hard and then it's just annoying. Stuff like rainclouds that you have to zip through or you'll drown oh wait there's an enemy behind it popping your balloon, better flap your arms now that you have one balloon left if you want to save yourse-oops, too bad, that's impossible, you got eaten by a fish.

I know it's about flying around on balloons, but it's way too floaty. Stick regular Balloon Fight physics in there and it might work.

I'm so starved for VC games that i've been even buying the crappy games hoping to encourage Nintendo to release more games, this actually might be convincing them to keep drip-feeding them really slowly so people like me buy all the crap. Lol.

AmeoBattle looks interesting but i'd have to delete a DSiWare game since they have that silly thing where DSiWare can't save to the SD card.

That really annoys the hell out of me, they can do it for Wiiware why can't they do the same thing for DSiWare. To make matters worse if I move a DSiWare game to the SD card and then delete it from the 3DS I loose any save data I have for it.

Save data is part of the game file. It should keep whatever save data was in it when you copied it to your SD card.

Oh really, I went to move some games over to my SD card this morning and it came up with a message about losing saved data, I was going to move over Cave Story but then that message came up and I thought better of it.

That's weird. I just copied over Mighty Flip Champs to see what would happen and I didn't get that message. I got one saying I wouldn't be able to launch it from the SD card though. Duh.

Yeah, you'll lose the data from the copy that you delete on your 3DS, but if you already copied it to your SD card, then you're fine. You just can't launch the game from the SD card.

lol totally forgot about the club nintendo games for the month

URBAN CHAMPION :( what the hell, though it looked fun in the video, its basically just one fight and your done, i have the nes copy

No you don't. Save Data moves along when you copy a DSiWare game from the console to the SD card and vice-versa. It's only when you delete the game entirely and re-download from the eShop that you lose your data.

EDIT: Man, took too long to respond.

IIRC it was developed by the same team that did the inferior Vs. Arcade version of Balloon Fight, hence the dodgy physics--they didn't have Iwata's mad skills backing them up like the console devs did.

what are people's opinions on g&w gallery 2. y/n? never played any game and watch stuff.

They're pretty simple LCD games where you do the same thing over and over for a high score. The Modern versions presented add a little more to the games, but they're still built on the same basic core.

It's a nice collection if you're into that sort of thing.

Thanks, just bought it. You're pretty much accurate in your description. Only one song as far as I know, only one scenery, but I've run into rain. Everything else is as you described including the controls - touchscreen being the best.

EDIT: Honestly, this is a free flash game that eshop charges $2 for, but it's pretty addictive and I wanted something like this for my 3DS. If this were an iOS/Andriod game it'd probably be free with an ad bar or $.99

Or Chibi Robo. Especially Chibi Robo Park Patrol. It's by skip, who did those and Captain Rainbow, and boy does it show.

P.S. How do I end the first day? I have three deliriously happy penguins, what now??

meh, I rather take Super Spy. hopefully it gets a EU release someday

and isn't Monster World 4 for genesis/mega drive?

So, did they do any major work on Super Street Fighter II besides making it online? IIRC that version was slower, crappier looking, had bigger black bars, and sounded much worse than the SNES version.

Also, how does GG Shinobi compare to the Genesis Shinobis?

Probably a business decision. eShop was the way forward for portable downloadables, whereas they had to live with WiiWare for a few years yet.

I know, right? With that dollar I could buy a single breakfast burrito. Just a few more slightly-cheaper games and I could get an orange juice to go with it!

Yep.

It's most similar to Revenge of Shinobi, both visually, aurally and in the way your character moves. The big gimmick is that you can play the stages in any order, and beating a stage unlocks a different-coloured ninja with different abilities that you can switch to at any time from the pause menu--it's all very Megaman-y. Short and kinda cramped but still good fun, and the sequel is even better.

Since the 3DS launched, I've wanted this to happen. Imagine how great those Lumines skins would be with 3D depth.

So I don't like to blow coins on games, but due to this thread I bought pictobits with real monies.

Game is SWEET.

Guys, which one of these platformers on the eShop should I get first? I plan to get them all eventually but I think I should finally buy at least one really soon. Amount of content doesn't really matter to me, it just has to be enjoyable enough for me to finish it.

-Mighty Switch Force
-Mutant Mudds
-Cave Story
-Shantae: Risky's Revenge
-3D Classics: Kirby's Adventure
-VVVVVV

If you're looking for content, I'd go with Cave Story. But you might want to wait on that since Cave Story+ is right around the corner. In that case, I'd go with Mutant Mudds. Fantastic game.

I played this for SO LONG when it came out on the GBC. It has tons of games in both classic monochrome G&W mode and newfangled coloured mode, and lots of unlockables. I sat day after day after day with it trying to get over 1000 points in every game. Actually think I did it, too. It's a perfect timewaster, and very charming and likable. It's one of those great games that can put you into "the zone", where you can do the hardest challenges without breaking a sweat or even thinking about it. But I'm not sure I want to buy it again on the 3DS... it would probably just take over my life again. Who am I kidding, of course I'll buy it again. So, uh, buy it. Very boring at first when things go slowly, but it soon speeds up and becomes awesome.

Because we all love ranks:

Cave Story > 3D Classics: Kirby's Adventure > Mutant Mudds > VVVVVV > Shantae: Risky's Revenge > Mighty Switch Force.
