Treasure is definitively a better match for a StarFox title (gameplay and budget wise) under EAD guidance, Retro should be free to develop whatever new IP they want.

This is very true too. Just that rumor (?) seems to be Retro talking about working on something "everyone wants them to do," so making the logical jump to a franchise reboot makes sense. It doesn't really gel with "Nintendo" and new "IP," although ironically, that WOULD probably actually be what most Nintendo fans want Retro to do.

I always liked Rawcowboy's dedication to GN.

Sure a lot of rumors get posted there, but their fun to read even if many are fake.

Didn't notice the title change.

"Space...the final frontier. Until you get to the end and the monkey starts throwing barrels at you."

LOL.

E3, the final frontier. These are the voyages of the WUST Enterprise. It's five-thread mission: to explore strange new rumors, to seek out real news and real specs, to boldly go where no GAFfer has gone before.

oooooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO...

It's clearly a reference to my over-bad photoshoped Wii U ship :p
Wow. How the heck did I miss that?!

And thinking about a few days ago we were conspiring on competing against his website.. by creating a NintendoGAF blog. Evil
Aww.. we'd be no match for them though.

You know the phrase "The Eyes of Ganon are Everywhere?"

Dawn of the Final Month still sounded menacing and exciting. And the Majora Moon could have been a great OT banner.

Final Frontier is...acceptable.

Lots of new news today, eh? I would have missed it all, but got referred to this thread from another site. I don't really check this thread because it's just way too much to wade through, but it would be nice if there were new threads made for new news, even if's just stuff like a zapper patent, or an awesome and highly likely rumor. Just a suggestion.

That source didn't end up posting anything after the initial stick-clicking revelation, did he?

My aunt & uncle run a Mom & Pop store, "The Gamecube Hut", and sold 80k WiiU within minutes of opening.
I have some doubts that the diagram is the (current) Wii U one.

Whoa.
I think the dude dropped a hint here.

Perhaps the hardware detail he knows about is missing from the diagram?

Hmmm... ?

Even the Rumors, he clearly marks them as Rumors so I don't see how that hurts anyone.

That's why I don't understand GN's banning.

The site clearly marks rumors as rumors. They never pass any rumor/speculation as real news. And he'll even call out rumors as bullshit but still post them anyways. I don't see how their rumors are any worse than other site's rumors.

The patent came out a couple or so months after E3 last year. I'm kinda surprised it got the amount of attention it did, but I guess not everyone was combing through it like I did last year. :p

The main issue for me is the memory. That alone doesn't make sense based on what I know and have shared.

The patent filing seems to have been updated yesterday

Thanks for all the very kind words, gang. I really do appreciate hearing those sort of things. I know some aren't keen on GN and that's fine. To each his own. I just know I do the best job I can. Sometimes that's not up to snuff for some people. I can 100% respect that.

With that said, I didn't mean to have the conversation steer towards GN opinions. Sorry about that! Let's get back to the much more fun and interesting Wii U chatter!

frackin 20 pages in already, haha we are insane

Just wait until six years from now when we do the run up to the Nintendo EIEIO. Weekly speculation threads. The 2018 N-conf will fill up its E3 topic, but the conference won't even be over!

blast, there's a terrible bug in my GAF date-charting app!

Whatever happens when 2 falcon punches hit at the same time.

FALCOOOOON BLOG!

Well, we're just killing time until somebody finds the next news bit.

I shall explain this as I did in the last thread, and I'm pretty sure the thread before that.

Go Nintendo has a history of posting rumours. Lots of rumours. And yes, in almost every case, they mark rumour reports as just that. The problem is the sourcing of the rumours. Rumours can often be sourced back to a single forum post and/or internet gossip.

Though we encourage new threads for new news, including rumour discussion, we do not support the forum getting clogged up with every single rumour posted on every single website, especially those lacking credibility and proper sourcing. It's one thing to make a thread based on a rumour sourced back to multiple gaming websites with known connections to the industry, and the rumour itself being credible and interesting. It's another thing entirely to make a thread because some guy said some shit on some forum and we believe him just 'because'.

Furthermore, Go Nintendo has, in the past, erroneously reported rumours and information, adding inaccurate conjecture to reports that further complicates the matter. We end up with people not only posting threads based on dumb rumours from unreliable nonsense sources, but ones that could have been easily discredited prior to posting. Or, in worst case examples, the report itself misinterprets the rumour, leading to completely inaccurate 'news'.

This shouldn't be taken as an attack against Go Nintendo. RawMeatCowboy posts here, and is welcome to. His website is an excellent source for all things related to Nintendo. But because of clashes between Go Nintendo reports and GAF's expectations of rumour and news validity, the website was banned. We don't allow 'Chartz for slightly similar inaccuracy reasons.

But, unlike 'Chartz, which has a blanket ban for being full of shit, Go Nintendo isn't strictly banned from discussion or sourcing. You can source back to Go Nintendo, even though the URL will be blanked out. You can discuss news and rumours there. That's fine. We simply express caution in doing so, for the above reasons. This is especially true for making threads. If you make a thread sourced back to Go Nintendo, and the information is reliable and trustwrothy, then fine. If you link to a stupid, dumb rumour with poor sourcing and obvious inaccuracies, then you'll probably get a ban.

Post smart, stay safe. This has been a NeoGAF Nintendo public service announcement.
