Just re-watched Sony's e3 2006 presser. And I'm sure we'll all aware of the "moments"

But wanted to mention, as important as it is for Nintendo to showcase some big guns, its also really important they choose the right game to set the mood.
The first game Sony shows is an HD uprezzed demo of GT 4, which just kind of drains the energy from the get go because it isn't even a game in development. And they followed it up with stuff like Genji 2, which while a decent B-C tier game isn't.. something you use to showcase your console.

Nooo. I am trying to erase any GTA5 Wii U expectations from my brain.

I want to believe, but I can't...

Well I tend to overhype and my expectations shoot through the roof in terms of software. My line of thinking is that if the Wii U is capable of running the game, why not bring it to the Wii U? Until R* states it's made for the such and such platforms and not the Wii U, I will continue to expect it for the system.

I don't think it matters for Nintendo. They can be all over the place as long as they announce fantastic games. They've had their moments before, but I do believe they'll get this E3 right.

I think Nintendo understands that.
They opened with fucking Zelda last year.

Deep down I think GTA5 trailer looked too good for the current consoles, but I still have to hold back from hyping a Wii U version.

I know the presentation part is the most exciting but I look forward more to the showfloor, developer interviews, etc...

But the best part of this E3???

No crazy lulls in information from then on.

I'm good with 240!

But shrinkage in mobile tech and tiny advancements in battery life consumption should push it higher.

As snarkish as my response was (seriously, I gotta work on that), I am very concerned at how even Nintendo had a dramatic drop in battery life this generation. Performance is usually linked to battery life, and device makers have been making massive concessions in battery life to get higher performance over much of the past decade. At some point, they'll reach a point where they can't go any lower with the battery life, and I fear that we won't see very rapid improvement after that.

That shit DID go on too long. You only got a hour, lets move it along, guys.

*rest of the conference is boring as fuck*

Uh, can we go back to the Zelda thing?

Random question: Assuming we can digitally download every game for Wii U, are you going to go digital when Wii U drops? Still gonna keep collecting boxes? Are you a sick freak and plan on picking up both the physical release and digital release?
I've already made that transition on PC - I don't tend to buy games in retail stores or anything. Dealing with discs is just annoying, I tend to have a couple games I'm playing at any one time (like Xenoblade Chronicles and DDR), and I hate having to constantly switch those discs.

Agree. I'd love for it to happen.

If it isn't hardware power, I'm sure that Rockstar will come-up with something else creative as their reasoning for their decision.

On the bright side, they'll give us another nice game, like a sequel to that very nice Bully game.

The Retro Studios Nintendo meme has become the most annoying thing. For a developer who changes staff significantly every three years, and no game of the year candidacy for 10 years... they sure do sit on a high pedestal. They are good folks. But there are western studios putting out much better games than Prime 3.

But I really do hope they make a new First Person Adventure. Step up to the big league and see how they stack up against the competition.

To be fair, they *were* going to release the game, basically as an entire DLC game where you get the game for free but buy all the tracks and cars, though they may not have made that decision by that point yet.

All of a sudden I don't like you.

Who got banned this time? I'm having trouble keeping up.

Anyway, I think a new 3D Mario would do the most damage investor and media wise for close out footage.

guek

how much water does that take?

I remember that strange Wii contest from a Radio Station that people had to drink lots of water the one who could drink the most would win the Wii, a mother died for this

I remember that now. Completely forgot about it.

Juding Retro on Prime 3 is unfair.

They "dumbed" down their series for the controller.

I can't keep pouring out 40oz bottles of water, even if I pour it in a cup. Y'all gotta stop getting banned.
Sadly, I am no longer amazed at the Nintendo trolling/baiting that happens around here.
The best metaphor I can come-up with: the haters are like children in class, taunting a teacher, knowing that if the teacher responds too forcefully, the teacher will be punished.

Every day, in the vast majority of threads about the company, relentless.

Prime 3 was fun though. But my point still stands. Unfortunately I hang around Nintendo threads too much and certain things get grating. I just hope there is more westen output under the Nintendo publishing label.

Yeah, it's insane. Wii shipped less than 6 million in that period.

Well you could be right, but it's possible if they push for it. If they expect a total of 10.5 million between the Wii and the Wii U, I find it hard to believe they will sell 6 million Wiis in that period. At max I expect 6-7 million Wii U sold if anything. Maybe if they price drop the Wii to $99, I can see it coming close.

It's an important franchise, especially for this controller.

Not a fan of the series much anymore(prefer arcadey action sports titles) but it should be part of it all.
I've bought one Madden game in my entire life (2000 on N64, dat Bucs D), having a good version on Wii U would get me to buy another one.

Thank you for these. Even though the others aren't my cup of tea, for some strange reason I still find them interesting.

I have one copy, too. Still sealed. At this rate, it'll never happen again, but I can die a happy man having attended the NFC Championship here at home and then witnessing It happen at least once. :D

Damn, hopefully not perm'd, I liked reading his posts, good regular.

The pure greatness of Prime 1 can take a developer far, even when it has very few of the original staff that made it possible. But Retro still has some of the best artists and design in the industry.

True, but you would have a REALLY hard time finding another western studio with the skills to put together a game like Prime 3 on such limited hardware. That game had fantastic art direction, controlled like butter, ran 60fps and had stunning texture work. Can't wait to see what they pull off in HD.

I really think Retro would anchor it outside of some major 3rd party is simply because based on who they are hiring etc it has to be some big core title. They certainly do have a high turnover rate so its hard to claim retro is the exact same retro.

I liked Prime 3 but it couldn't hold a candle to 1 or 2, both about the same quality to me.....masterpiece level.

Retro is hyped up but don't hold it against THEM.

I know what you are saying though.

They haven't made a bad game yet though in their short time putting out games and I think the best is yet to come as this hype puts more pressure on them.
