Haha. It happens. I learned my first lesson early on in classic by downloading a program that dropped all my items. Too bad for the other guy I didn't have anything good.
Damn, I can't imagine how much loot that guy's got from tricking so many people :(

If anyone from Blizzard is reading this thread, then please know I will suck anyones dick to have a job there as a QA bug tester. <3

Let me talk to my friend who works there, maybe you can start there and then just suck up.

this is a joke, do not get excited, unless it's sexually excited, in which case go wild

More super useful keyboard shortcuts:

Ctrl + Shift + T = open last closed tab.

This is nice for when you accidentally close the wrong tab.
This is actually very useful! I accidentally close the wrong tab many times, so this will be of good use~

Another newb question. How much random generation will there be? When I played the beta, it look like the overworld stayed pretty much the same, but that the dungeons changed a lot (except in key areas).

Is G700 worth it folks?

far as i am concerned no, just grab a MX518 or if you can't find one anymore a G400 i think that's the successor, they're super solid, well made mice, the extra fluff of the G700 might be nice to have but not really necessary unless you reeeaaally like the feel and those added buttons or soemthing

Anyone planning on running this on a laptop? I'm hoping to at least see if I can get my fiance into it and we recently bought her a new laptop and although I'm sure it can run the game I'd like to have a better idea of how well. Specifically curious about the video card.

Proc: i7-2670QM
RAM: 6GB
Vid: Nvidia GT 610M 2GB

I gave the beta a run with that card on an i5-480 and 4GB of RAM. It ran on med-low settings but kinda struggled. That card is pretty weak.

Does anyone know if my Mac mini server (2011) will be able to run this at an acceptable framerate with the graphic settings turned all the way down?

 • 2.0GHz quad-core i7
 • 8GB 1333MHz DDR3 memory
 • Intel HD Graphics 3000 w/ 512MB shared memory

I wasn't able to partake in the open beta weekend so I don't know for myself, I've been Googling this for the past couple of days and for everyone person who says it will work alright there is a person who says it won't work at all..

Oh mannn had this happen as well, but I had a ton of good stuff on me. I will find him, one day, and send him to the depths of Hell.

That's pretty much how things are, later dungeons will be a lot more randomized but "important" areas like boss rooms and towns will always stay the same.

Bashiok quote:
The exterior landscape will for the most part be static, but with pockets of randomness (this doesn’t include monster spawns which are still quite random). You’ll always know where the towns and roads are, and know the edges of the map. We felt that exploring the exteriors to find landmarks and quest areas wasn’t very compelling. It’s also more productive for co-op to be able to say to a friend ‘Let’s meet at this shrubbery’ and everyone knows how to quickly get there every time. Dungeons are more linear in the way that content is encountered, so they can be randomized quite a bit and you’re not very likely to be just running around aimlessly. Iif you do hit a dead end you’re at least assured you encountered plenty of battle (and thus loots) on the way.

So while the exterior is largely static, within that defined landscape there are literal square holes (from small to huge) and within those empty square holes a great number of possible pieces can be dropped in. And they’re chosen randomly.
So you may play a few games and always see empty terrain in the same place, but on your next playthrough you’ll instead have a broken down wagon appear and a quest giver that needs you to go kill a unique fallen shaman who stole his tools to fix it. And maybe the playthrough after that the sqaure puzzle piece is a short dungeon to explore with a big chest or mini-boss at the end. Ideally it’ll encourage exploration of the exterior zones over and over, hoping to find that a rewarding adventure has appeared.

Dungeons on the other hand are completely randomized, same as Diablo II.
* All of the halls and rooms and all the bits are shuffled around and it’s all different every time. Some of the rooms themselves will offer unique quests if they’re rolled up, and in some cases individual rooms themselves have those square chunks missing and within those randomly chosen rooms a number of random events can occur.

It’s a bit involved to explain, but very simple in practice (I believe some images of the square puzzle pieces were actually shown at a BlizzCon?).

*Some small "dungeons" are completely hand crafted and won’t include randomization of layout at all, but these are generally things like wine cellars or other underground areas of a few rooms or less.

My dream is to someday be the head QA guy for a company like Blizzard. Shout outs to pipe dreams...like beating D3 Inferno solo in one sitting under 3 hours on hardcore mode with no gear on.

Seriously. I enjoy number crunching games way too much and I'm not really sure what that really equates to. Oh well, I guess :(

But....that's what you get. Are you talking about points?

What Banner Sigil or Pattern, not just "You get one." At least, that's what I assumed Sothpaw was looking for.

Gay porn star ? :O Buttman and Throbin can be your first film to use for inspiration and just have it be the Barbarian and the Templar's love tale from the unedited chapters of Diablo 3.

What's the deal with designing your own sigils, can you make as many as you want or will you only receive one per class?

As long as I can still get the feeling of teleporting around Durance of Hate for 10 minutes looking for level 3.
Oh you absolutely will!

I haven't designed my own sigil yet, just seems so pointless to me :/

I might design one when I get the game, if inspiration strikes that is.

by design do you mean use the ingame options or can you literally customize and bring in images/ vectors art to use?

I assume the former, but still?

I have a feeling everyone and their mother is gonna color their banner black/red with skulls and fires!

It's all about colorful rainbows, everyone! Say somethin' hater!

Just arrived from Amazon:

New Death Adder mouse and Vespula mouse pad in preparation for Tuesday. This is my first Razer mouse and it feels amazing! It's going to take some time to get used to it though since I've been using a Microsoft Sidewinder for so long.

You are ready.

Midnight sale in Germany. Price for the CE is hot, but believe me, they will have like 5-10 CE's for 100-200 people. Typical stupid marketing. Sad thing is we even have laws against this kind of stuff.
"A special offer like that has to be in store in a sufficient quantity". However the law doesn't say what sufficient quantity exactly means, in terms of numbers.

Please explain this concept. I recall seeing people playing dob2 and teleporting about crazily.....

What the hell was that

And you'll be able to do it in 3?
You won't be able to teleport infinitely in Diablo 3 because of how the skill now has a huge cooldown (even runed, you won't be able to get the insane amount of tele-per-second as in D2.

edit: if your question was about randomization in dungeons, here's a great quote:

And thank god for that. One of the worst things to happen to the game. Pretty much forced them to put in that runeword that let you port. Then it was even worse because everyone HAD to have it.

I'm thinking of dropping my Amazon preorder and switching to Blizzard download.
Is this a good idea? (Yeah, I'm aware of all the benefits, I just need a GAF push lol)

Allow me to rephrase the question

How the hell were people able to teleport in dob2? A skill was it?

And will there be any of that craziness in dob3

I'm so glad we won't have to carry books and charms anymore. You end up with no room in your inventory and your Cube full of runes.

Yup. Needless to say, enigma on hammerdins were ridiculous... RIP hammerdins

Sorceress had the Teleport skill. There was later a Runeword you could add to Armor that allowed for Teleporting.

Diablo 3 Wizard has Teleport but on a cooldown; D2's one was spammable endlessly.

Do you want to play at midnight (+ time zone difference)? Don't want a physical copy (and/or CE swag)?

Yeah, the closer the launch becomes, I realize I would really want to play at midnight.
I did want a physical copy which is why I ordered at Amazon, but didn't step up to a CE.
Middle ground - so might as well get it sooner haha.
