Wow had no idea! Do the losses have to be consecutive?

I'm not sure actually, but I don't think so. I was just playing through normally, not resetting or anything if I was doing badly. Eventually it just unlocked.

I own a Vita and have still not bought a Vita game on it. It continues to live on as my PSP gaming machine until Gravity and LBP hit.

Hmm, well maybe you could recommend GAF a few of your favorite PSP games :)

Just tried Gravity Rush and it's feels exactly like the kind of game the industry needs more off. It takes the best part two seconds for the game to win you over. Yes, the title screen, though static, is that gorgeous and the rest of the visuals might be the best we see all year. It's a cliché but the beautifully shaped 3D graphics really feel like a comic come to life, while the lightning and coloring gives it an identity of its own.

Even though the demo was short, what gameplay was there felt fresh, though perhaps slightly remniscent of Crackdown when jumping, even if that changed as soon as you started altering gravity. Flying through the air wasn't just well realised, giving you a rush(yeah) everytime you do it. It's also seems to breathe new life into the sandbox genre and will be interesting to explore more thoroughly without the constraints of a demo.

There were a few targeting niggles and long loading times that are hopefully just beauty marks on an otherwise stunning production, but niggles or not, I am very excited to be playing this soon.

Just realised you can fly around in Gravity Rush whilst still in the 1st person viewpoint too. Pretty neat that they let you do that!
Also, why no Resistance demo in the UK? COME ON!

Resistance demo was really good IMO, was worried about the touchscreen mechanics but it worked really well. The only thing I hate is the double tap on the back touchpad to run, but other than that, it works great.

Yeah, didn't get the 1 million points trophy either.

Hot darn, I already loved this game too much but now it is getting crazy. Such a sweet update. And I just won the top two prizes in a row, first 100.000 and then 40.000, crazy. Also scored 2.2Million and didn't geta trophy either.

Game is so smooth and flashy, does anyone know an iOS game that comes close? I may buy something again soon just to say thanks to these guys again.

I really like the double tap sprint. It seems to work perfectly for me. What I hate is the grenades. I will play the demo again soon though. Maybe I just need to get used to them. Tagging feels great.

Playing Gravity Rush makes you remember why Japanese game developers are awesome.

It really does. There may have been a few stumbles here and there this generation, but every time they nail it, you're reminded why you fell in love with games in the first place.

Worried about Little King's Story... videos of the J version show some pretty bad slowdown in towns when you have an entourage with you. Wonder if it gets slow in other parts? Doubt they fixed that just for a localization :/

According to the Red Sun Gamer guys, the slowdown is pretty bad throughout.

Disgaea 3: Absence of Detention

I freaking love Disgaea. It's a SRPG series with usual grid movement, turn-based battles, and standard RPG elements. But IMO, other SRPGs tend to feel "tedious", while Disgaea is fun, fast-paced, easy to dive into, and it's just as deep and expansive. The series also features a few unique gameplay elements like lifting/throwing and geo blocks, which allows for map designs that are creative and puzzle-like. Oh, and it has a quirky sense of humor, and is chock full of references and parodies.

This game is mostly a straight port of the PS3 game, but with all the DLC content included, plus some new content, and some gameplay tweaks. So it's well worth the $40 price tag.

The biggest improvement to me is actually that post-game grinding is now way easier. You can obtain one of the best pieces of equipment pretty early in the post-game, and maxing out the item's stats is really straightforward. Disgaea is known for its intricate gameplay systems and endless grinding possibilities, but this game is much simpler to grasp and faster to reach stat caps.

If you're new to Disgaea, don't worry. Beating the main story doesn't require that much grinding or understanding of how things work. Afterwards, you can start to figure things out from there.

If you've played the PS3 game, I think you'll have to decide for yourself whether you want more of it. But if you haven't played the PS3 game, I would highly recommend D3:AoD. Probably the best SRPG the Vita will ever get.

May have just sold me on Disgaea. I'm kinda new to JRPGs so I'm looking for things that are a little easier to get into, really wish there was a demo though.

I wonder if I've done something wierd with the settings on my Vita, because I'm still getting terrible download speeds. I bought Resistance and the estimated time is over 2 hours? For less than 3 gb? :(

I've got lots of other devices connected to the same wifi spot and I never have any trouble with those.

Any advice on what I can do to get acceptable download speed?

You should probably be downloading content via a PS3 if you have the option. Download speeds on the Vita are consistently bad in my experience. A 3GB file d/led on the Vita would probably take an eternity vs. the time it would take on my PS3.

No PS3. :( Maybe there's some way to download via my computer and transfer with content manager?

Even ps3 downloads can be absurdly slow. It took six hours for my PS3 to download Infamous 2 last night.

In your experience being the key part. My PS3 downloads are slow as shit but i get great speeds on my Vita. I downloaded LBP Beta (~400MB) in about half an hour. That would take HOURS on my PS3.

You could also consider Disgaea 1 for the PSP. It's $14.99 on PSN and is Vita-compatible. Core gameplay mechanics are roughly the same, and D1 has the best story/characters of the whole series. D3 does have more content though.

Licorice-flavoured booze?
Just finished playing the Gravity Rush demo, Meow!, was always worried if the gravity mechanics would put me off the game but they are surprisingly intuitive, lovely graphics and the frame-rate seems pretty solid, shame the demo was so short though :-(

Regarding another matter, now I've got a few 'cart' based games it's really annoying not knowing which game is in my system, I hope they fix this in update.

On iOS, I would recommend Bejeweled, Bejeweled Blitz, and Treasures of Montezuma 3.

2 hours? You were lucky. It took mine 4 hours. And this is using an n router and a 20Mb connection.

Not an asshole.

This is my cup of tea. Looks like Dustforce mashed up with Outland and Shank.

My general feeling towards what's coming up for Vita:

Play the Resistance demo and didn’t care for it. Maybe if it goes on sale (PSN) I’ll buy it for the multiplayer. Also started the Gravity Rush demo but didn’t bother playing it, as I’ve already done so, just wanted to see what the voice acting was like. I’m guessing it’s just going to be English subs for the full game?

They should have just focused on making a good MP and then sell it for 20 bucks. Whatever B team handled this bit off way more than they could chew.

people that own mlb the show on vita. Did they cut all the presentation stuff? ie: are there still replays for homeruns, double plays, diving catches etc?

I have this same problem - what kind of router do you have? I'm using an Apple Time Capsule and the download speed is consistently terrible. My Vita won't auto-connect to it and downloading anything off the PSN store is way slower than any other device. I've heard from others with Airport base stations that they're in the same boat—the Vita just doesn't like it.

boo... even the psp ones had replays T_T.

Still, it's one of the greatest looking and playing mobile sports games of all time. If you're in it to watch cutscenes, don't get it. If you're looking for THE BEST baseball game on the market, on the go, pick it up asap.

As a minor comparison; I owned mlb 12 the show, ps3 had issues, dumped the game on ebay. Picked up MLB 2k12 for the 360, was totally lol worthy. Bland textures, hysterical animations, repetitive nature, etc. Forgot that I bought MLB 12 on Vita same day in a discounted bundle, been playing it as a my primary baseball game since. Mobile game that blows the console rival out of the water.

None of the performance issues or w/e I'm hearing about affects gameplay right?

edit: Those are some nifty angles... wait those shots are during live gameplay?

The show sure has changed since I played it like 2 years back.

How do I get my saves from my PSP onto my vita to continue my games on the Vita?
I only know how to do it with the ps3

from the top of my head:

Connect PSP to PS3
somewhere in the XMB is a menu for PSP/Mini Save games
copy your PSP from there to the ps3
connect Vita
select Application(?)
and there the PSP stuff

I went to the store to get Where is my Heart and Velocity because they are now compatible to the Vita on the US side. (Edit: They still require the PS3 to transfer though.)
Saw that Velocity was free for PS+ and saw the other PS+ stuff and signed up for a bit.

Where is my Heart has a very good first impression. That game looks fantastic.
