Persona 4 Golden (Vita) -- E3 2012 Trailer

Of course it does but Atlus is very stringent about their localization excellence. They would do anything to keep their integrity. Well everything but employing good VAs and 2003 niche DVD feature parity.
Co-signed. Well, I don't know if they've been hiring good VAs recently, since I stopped buying their games over the 2003 DVD feature parity issue.

One short line of dialogue, but you get the gist of it.

Not much to go on. I closed my eyes and listened to this and it seems alright. We need more material before making a judgment call.

As far as the VA goes, she's definitely got range and talent - I just listened to a few Catherine clips to jog my memory. Quality is there, but we'll need more to go on for P4G to judge the execution.

By the way, what is this about?
It's just a way of saying that they refuse to offer a dual audio option on their games, which has been standard for DVDs since forever. (And is becoming more standard for game localizations all the time, with the efforts of companies such as NISA, XSEED, Aksys, and even Namco-Bandai, Square-Enix or Sega)

The fact that voices had to be changed sucks but honestly I never thought Chie's VA was good. Pretty sure the VA was a complete newbie and it showed. Delivery was bad on almost all fronts. I mean yeah I got used to it and it sounded fitting, but that's the deal with any VA really. I don't have a Vita so it matters not to me anyway, but I will check out some clips when the game's out so I can see for myself what the new Chie VA is like.

Teddie being replaced is bad though. His voice was perfect for the character.

Also, LOL at the fact some people are all about the dual audio shit. To each their own I guess...

Some of you guys are overreacting about P4A's Chie being in P4G. Yeah, it's disappointing to those of us used to original Chie, but all we've heard of her is a quickly-spoken one-liner from a trailer. At the very least, let's hear her performance in P4A's story mode before we go and write P4G off completely.

Eugh I hate to be that guy since things like this rarely bother me, but she sounds way too squeaky, In persona 4 she had a huskyness to her voice, I hope this new actress can capture that.

I will cry manly tears if the husky part of her voice is gone. It's what made he so attractive as a character.

I really don't care about the voice actors, I turn them off in P3/4 anyway, they're annoying. boothisman.gif

Jeez, they should just completely redo the dub. This is going to turn out rather awkward. The dub was kind of awkward to begin with.

Uh, XSeed's games are seldom dual audio. Same with Square's.

Heck, NIS is largely an exception to the rule.

People should not be crucifying Atlus when they're FAR from the only company that does it.

Removing VA entirely, that's another story... but then again, we're getting Growlanser IV, so, it's worth it.

Haha, what?

Also Atlus hires great voice actors/actresses

:lol
I know I'm probably the only one, but I just like to imagine my own voices for them, especially in such a text heavy game. A part of it is because I read much faster than they'd speak and cutting into each line of audio doesn't sit well with me, so it's easier just to turn it off

Maybe if Persona 5 had some british dubs then I'd be more inclined to keep them turned on

The fees their "handlers" charge for EVERY new iteration of their clients' voicework is crippling for an Atlus, and a waste of money for a SE.

You know after hearing the small bit of Chie's new VA, I think I've warmed up to it a bit. Like as much as I love Chie and her original husky voice, I also remember the first time I heard her and thought it really didn't fit.

Still not sure on Teddy though...

I mean, by the middle of the game I was used to it and eventually warmed up to it, but I think it was just the case of getting accustomed to it. In terms of being good the VA was not. And when I first heard Chie's voice I was like "da fuq this doesn't fit at all." I got used to it but I can't say the VA was ever good, she was obviously a complete newbie (and apparently didn't even continue lol).

Just IMO though.

Looks amazing. So psyched to replay this with the added content. Did the Atlus guy say there was 10 hours of extra story?

Also, has there been a confirmed release date for NA?

Right, he said about 10 hours of extra content that consists of a skiing trip and a new character. No details, although the trophy list for the game had a spoiler in it that could explain some things.

Laughing Banana

Weeping Pickle
So, can anyone inform me the confirmed additional content they're adding to this version? Is there a list somewhere that details the main difference between this and the vanilla version?

Also, why the hell would they snob out Dave Wittenberg? Craziness..............

Picked this up yesterday. Only played for about two hours, but here are some things I noticed:

Right from the main menu, you have a "TV guide". In there, you can watch live concerts, the new and old (of course!) OPs for the game, listen to soundtracks, and more. This is not just exclusive to Persona 4 content, but also includes stuff from Persona 3 (FES). You also unlock more and more of this type of content as the game goes on.

Any time during the game you can press select and pull up a dialog list incase you missed or want to re-read something. You can even re-play the voice samples from here.

You can take screenshots using the screenshot function of the Vita and they look pretty good -- also, there is NO watermark!

Might be a spoiler (maybe) so I'll mark it but it happens in the first five minutes of the game:

You run into the new girl right when you get to Yaso Inaba at the beginning of the game, and then see her in town a bit later. She definitely seems "mysterious", but no surprise at that because in the OP she is hanging with Igor and Margaret.

The graphics look good (the character portraits are especially colorful and pop well on the screen).

Screenshot actually doesn't look that great, are those compression artifacts from the vita SS generator or a product of the image host used to post that image?

I hate you so much right now.

I'll be grabbing this tomorrow so I'll be posting impressions then.

Thanks so much for the impressions. I can't wait for this!

Wow, that sounds awesome. The dialog stuff and other unlockables especially.

Hnnnnnnnnnnnnnrgh that sounds so awwwwwwwwesome.

I'm very jealous.

So any word on how the
new personas for your other characters work? Do they replace the evolved forms from the previous game, or are they a second evolution?

So hey guys that are playing it - a while back, some screens showed the graphical changes to the backgrounds for the Vita version and I'm wondering if those screens look better, and how so, on the Vita screen.

Persona 4 had a sort of ghosting effect on the PS2 and it gave it this dreary quality to the atmosphere despite the cheerful colors and tone. Does the Vita version do something similar to this? If not, could any of you describe the obvious visual differences? Thanks!

Really looking forward to this, always wanted to get into this series. Sounds weird but the fighting game is what got me interested in the characters. Love the presentation style of everything too.

Should I play any of the others before this comes out? Was looking into 3 but it doesn't look like they tie together. Are the games difficult for an average RPG player?
