One Piece would probably do quite well even on Vita.

That has nothing to do with anything, and besides it probably would've sold less on Vita than on 3DS. One Piece is a kids show that appeals to everyone. Vita's not that device.

I'm just pointing out how popular it is. Considering how well One Piece Musou did on PS3 it's pretty clear it has a pretty large audience for a wide range of ages.

Yeah, in a survey conducted for One Piece demographics, it was revealed that 88% of One Piece readers are actually over 19.
It makes sense given it's been around for 15 years.

cw_sasuke

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
Indeed, I'm surprised Bandai hasn't flooded the system with more One Piece yet (Gigant Battle 3, Musou Special, etc).

Will probably be announced in the next couple months and released this november/december.

Was it a study or a survey? One has to question what market would actually respond to a survey.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
And still this year we're having another Special on PSP...of a game released earlier on PS360 (Orochi 2).
But still, the most obvious thing to do would be Unlimited Cruise 3. IMHO it could achieve 400k, given what Special did.

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.

The game was released in america with that name too, originally. Then they changed the title to "What Did I do to Deserve This, My Lord".

The sales numbers themselves make it pretty obvious. You can't just sell a million copies of a comic book in a week without universal appeal, which is what OP has (though I don't read it since the art style annoys the shit out of me). You could target solely the adult audience, but like most titles you see in a magazine like Afternoon you end up with sales that never really light up.

3DS would still be the ideal candidate for a game with such IP, considering most Nintendo IP's universal appeal, vs Vita which is clearly an enthusiast system at this point.

How did unlimited cruise sell?

Exchange too with only and you're right. Both are heavily paraphrased. Because the title sounds like crap if translated literally. The general notion is that those heroes who invade the devil's lair are "cheeky for being heroes". Yuusha no kuse ni namaiki da.

Fire Emblem continues to hold strong, showing some awesome legs.

How much do you think P4G needs to move hardware for it to be a massive success for Vita? 25k? 30k?

Sorry if it's been asked and answered before (probably dozens of times) but are digital software sales tracked at all for Media Create, NPD, etc? I have no idea what % of sales digital makes up on the Vita or the PSP, but everyone close to me I know who has a Vita (5 people, lol) have gone digital - myself included. I'm at the point where I don't want to buy any new games for the Vita because my 16 gig card is full and I hate refrigerator management.

Unfortunately not. We must rely on the publishers/developers mentioning how much something sold digitally.

They're not included. There's no easy way to know and numbers are probably vastly different depending on the title. So while some data is missed when ignoring digital sale, discussing them is a bit pointless because it's based on wild guesses most of the time.

That's not the original Japanese title, it's the American title. The Japanese title is more along the lines of "You're awfully impertinent for a hero".

I thought as much but wasn't sure. With the console makers being more and more guarded over their sales in recent years (generally only willing to tout their successes in PR speak and %-increases) I wonder if we'll ever get a more accurate picture of sales than we do now. Consumers are being conditioned more and more to go digital and that's where it appears the market is headed, so there's a chance that every sales report we get is a little bit less accurate than the one before it. Bummer.

So 10 days until Vita's death knell? What's the next big release for Vita now?

P4G this week. Then so far there's nothing big until Hatsune Miku F (which is August I think).

Well there's Time Travelers in July, but it's not exclusive, and it won't be big. Same with MGS collection.

And this without the digital sales too. Fantastic numbers for tokyo Jungle. Looks like an absolute crazy ride of a game.

[NDS] Pokemon Black 2 <RPG> (Pokemon Co.) (¥4.800)
[NDS] Pokemon White 2 <RPG> (Pokemon Co.) (¥4.800)

The Behemoth is coming!

Being very conservative I'm expecting at least a 2 million opening, that should be a lock. With that amount it would join the very exclusive club of the 2 million openers.

[NDS] Pokemon Black / White (Pokemon Co.) {2010.09.18} - 2,637,285
[PS1] Final Fantasy VIII (Square) {1999.02.11} - 2,504,044
[NDS] Dragon Quest IX: Defenders of the Starry Sky (Square Enix) {2009.07.11} - 2,343,440
[PS2] Dragon Quest VIII (Square Enix) {2004.11.27} - 2,236,881
[PSP] Monster Hunter Portable 3rd (Capcom) {2010.12.01} - 2,146,467
[PS1] Final Fantasy VII (Square) {1997.01.31} - 2,034,879

We will have to wait until Dragon Quest XI or the next main Pokémon game to see another game with such a huge debut.

How likely is this? I mean, Diamond and Pearl didn't open that big, and those were mainline titles.

Do we have any updates on how BW2 preorders are doing?

sinobi has extended info for Kirby's Collection and Just Dance Wii 2 in case they weren't posted somewhere. Release dates for these two are Jul 19, Jul 26 and Aug 2 for DQX.

While I think it will be even more front-loaded than Pokemon Black / White I'm not worried about its opening. Even with a reasonable 20% decline it would debut with 2 million units.

Preorders on Comgnet are tracking 30% below the first title.
